There's a logical fallacy that used to be called "the bad toupee fallacy". It's a kind of bias where you believe the examples you see make up the whole set. Someone may say "toupees are so bad, I can always tell when someone is wearing one." The fallacy is that you only see the bad toupees, the good ones you never notice.
In the 90s professors noticed that students didn't have much experience with spotting toupees (I don't know if toupees fell out of fashion, or if toupee technology has advanced). They now call the fallacy "the bad boob job fallacy".

I will never understand the obsession with 'gun deaths'.
The 20 years after the gun buyback had more deaths in Australia (in total and per capita) from 'mass casualty events' than the 20 years preceeding port Arthur. It's true that before the gun buyback, they were mostly (but not exclusively) perpetrated with firearms, and after the buyback they rarely (though not 'never', as the cathedral often claims) were committed with firearms. But why does anyone care *how* mass violence is committed?
:nord: Without guns to defend themselves, more people died
:NPC: Yes, but they didn't die *from guns*, so it's cool.

Traditional gas stations aren't well suited to ev charging for a variety of reasons. If EV charging demand was anticipated by the market, you'd see them crop up where people will park for an appreciable amount of time, like at restaurants and parking structures.
Regardless, biden tried to end-run the market process with $7.5B allocated for new charging stations in 2021, but the money came with so much red tape and DEI hoops to jump though that by the time he left office they had completed iirc 7.

The point is to compare the tone and substance of the articles. The point is to demonstrate that Wikipedia is trash when it comes to anything remotely political.
And it doesn't matter if woke is on the article or not, because 'woke' isn't just some derogatory term for 'far-left', it's actually how that faction of the left self identified, so it's just using their own descriptor, unlike 'right-wing extremist' for moderate conservatives.

I don't know what you mean by "ok". I was not a kirk fan, I don't endorse his statements, I characterized them as "unkind, acerbic, crass, and demeaning", I'm not sure how more forcefully I could express my personal disdain for some of his commentary. As distasteful as I found them though, they were no justification for his cold-blooded murder, or for celebration of his cold-blooded murder.
As for government force, I assume you're referring to pam bondi. As far as I'm aware, she was universally lambasted by all quarters of the right for trying to invoke "hate speech". I am not aware of any appreciable number of folks on the right who want anyone put in jail for their ghoulish tiktoks or social media posts.
As far as "cancel culture" goes, there is a very big difference between dredging up a years old off-color joke someone made on Twitter and starting a social media pile-on to get them fired over it, and people not wanting lunatics who have just publicly announced that they think they would be more than justified in murdering approximately half of the US population walking around the office behind them with access to scissors. I don't begrudge any co-worker of anyone celebrating a political assassination telling HR about that liability issue. Though I do find the website and doxx sleuthing to be very cringe. I get the turnabout is fair play thing, but I'm more of a rise above it guy myself.

While virtually everyone admits Charlie was generally cordial and respectful to folks at his live events, he often had a more acerbic and crass attitude on his podcast. The handful of quotes of his being circulated as particularly damning are either misquotes or taken out of context, however he did make jokes in bad taste and say unkind and even demeaning things about democrats, LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, and affirmative action beneficiaries. I was not a listener to his show, these are just some examples I have heard for myself since his death while investigating the allegation against him.
William's view is that kirk was 'spreading hate', and 'hate' leads to 'hate crimes' e.g., violence against minorities and democrats. Ergo: kirk was 'endangering' people with his mean words; Q.E.D.

This is nonsensical. You can't seriously argue that one guy making oblique references to some lifestyles being a sin in his religion on a poscast causes real world harm but thousands of people openly advocating for the murder of more or less half the population is innocuous because it's a small percentage of the population. A little bit of consistency would be appreciated.

And yes, celebrating is also advocating because it's logically incoherent to simultaneously argue that it is bad to do, but it is good when it happens.

A. Spend a ton of money to implement a one-off system that would probably be fine legally, but you never know until it's litigated. Oh, and if your service changes at all it will need to be rewritten from the ground up. Oh, and Implement it *perfectly* because if it has 5-nines of uptime but is down for a few minutes every year, or you missed a one in a million edge-case it doesn't catch, you're actually up a creek without a paddle.
OR
B. Spend 10 minutes adding a pop-up that 100% indemnifies you in all cases; then get on with your business.
I know what I would expect a lawyer I was paying to advise me to recommend.

No anarcho-capitalist I know of takes issue with collective bargaining in the abstract. The current form of highly-regulated unions we have in the us though are completely neutered. Mandatory negotiating and cooloff periods, no wildcat or sympathy strikes allowed, it's basically controlled opposition: "sure, you can strike, but only in very regimented ways we can easily plan for and won't effect stock prices too much". Of course we also don't approve of laws requiring businesses to unionize or prescribing how they must deal with unions if they don't want to.

I don't think the US will have much trouble defeating the Iranian conventional military elements or deposing the existing government. Air superiority all but guarantees the outcome of that part of the conflict.
But if recent history teaches us anything it's that they will have very little influence over who assumes control of the power vacuum, and that a few dedicated goat herders with aks can send the most sophisticated fighting force in the history of the world running with its tail between its legs when it tries to nation build instead of nation destroy.

The NPR comedy news quiz "wait wait don't tell me" had a story in the obama administration about a study that showed dark beer restored more electrolytes than Gatorade. It's a story entirely too good to fact check. Now after a workout and run I recover with a good Irish stout. 🍻

>BA in mathematics
Usually when a discipline has a BA and a BS available the difference is the BA skips the maths, so what the heck is taught in a BA *in* maths?? 🤔

Remember that one time when that congressman Wheels-McGee, or whatever his name was said he got invited to drug-fueled orgies by mitch mcconnell and then *someone* mysteriously leaked photos of him in drag and a video of him humping a passed out dude to the press and he lost reelection and nobody ever asked any questions about who leaked those or how they got them?? 🤔

Hopefully that will translate into a mild wildfire season 🤞
