Anyone ever seen a Lightning payment on an Invoice with a 1 hour expiry that confirmed 3 months later?
Binance sent a payment, they marked it as failed, refunded it and 3+ months later it shows as settled and they want the refund back (given because they have the Payment Hash).
How would a normal user with a Wallet of Satoshi account know what to do about this?

If I wrap a 0.5 BTC at $40,000 and deposit $40,000 HBD, and a few weeks later the price is $42,000 and I have to deposit another 0.5 BTC, I believe the plan is that I would have to deposit enough to make the collateral up to 84,000 total.
But these numbers will be altered by the reliability of the wrapper. For example my Hive reputation (with all the revenue streams it gives me) ensures that my reputation on Hive is worth many times more than these figures.

Wrapping and unwrapping will be an organic process. So in effect this will inject a form of dollar cost averaging into the amount held as collateral.
But highly trustworthy wrappers will also develop to the point where the absolute value of the collateral is less important.

Sad reality of #LightningNetwork today.
@binance implements it but (after initially allowing larger amounts like 3m) has now set a limit on 1.999m sats.
They also don't allow @MuunWallet or @Breez_Tech wallets and I know why: both of these solutions offer non-custodial storage but it is too slow and unreliable.
So you have to send to either your node or a wallet on a custodial centralized provider like @getAlby or @walletofsatoshi . Both fine products, but not what BTC is supposed to be.

You just made me think… according to Bard… there are 13.75 million vehicle transactions per year in USA and 278m personal and commercial vehicles.
If each transfer of a vehicle (in the USA alone) is a BTC transaction (because you’d want to record change of ownership as the bare minimum) that’s 9.2 months LOL. Assuming no other transactions.

LOL the Ordinals craze makes running your own Lightning node insanely and stupidly expensive so only a few thousand zealots will do it.
Opening channels and then re-opening them when they force close because of bugs and subtle incompatibles in all the core software, oh and Tor being such a crappy system to run on, makes Lightning node running stupid at small scale. Sure it is a few sats at 1 sat/Vb but at 100+sats/Vb you have to be made of money to do it.

I’ve been reluctantly building on Lightning because I saw big VC money going in and to ride those coat tails and pick up on what they built.
The current fiasco with Ordinals has me doubting Lightning’s future entirely.
I don’t see any ROI for VCs when channel openings and random closures will eat all possible profits and cost reductions. Without centralised services and huge nodes investing big BTC bucks, I don’t see any way this works.
I don’t see what incentive Miners have to do anything different, they make bank on these fees. They don’t want stupid 1 sat/vb channel openings and at 100+ sat/vb I don’t see how Lightning is viable.
Perhaps at some point this destroys Bitcoin completely, I don’t see how the original “best money ever” continues when moving it even via Lightning requires either a huge upfront investment or huge fees.
Where is the incentive for Miners to even want to change the code and discourage arbitrary data storage?
Unfortunately Bitcoin’s ridiculous governance model (i.e. shouting on Twitter and some email lists with no actual ability to force a change in the code) looks increasingly like its biggest vulnerability.

Just the vagaries of Lightning.
My node also force closed with Muun's node because they became unresponsive.
Unconnected but simultaneously I have 13m sats on chain but that I can't touch. Will have to ask Lightning Labs on Slack for help with that.

Unfortunately they're giving 201 on the first call which just gives you parameters and the address to fetch the invoice from I guess that creates a unique internal code.
That second call could legitimately be 201 as it creates a unique invoice. But 201 on the first information only call is a bit weak.
In the absence of a tight spec you get this kind of interop problem.

I just spent 30 mins trying to figure out why my http://v4v.app doesn't work with this LNURLp and I found it.
The LNURL spec DOESN'T specify response codes, IBEX returns 201 (created) which is fine but my code was looking specifically for 200 (which pretty much everyone else uses). Fault is in my code.
I’m just going through now and changing a whole lot of checks for == 200 to >=200 and < 300. I know you love hearing about this stuff… as usual, you broke something 🤣😆🤣😆
But the LNURL spec is also poorly written too. 🏃‍♂️✂️

Thank you for the hours of study you clearly put into that opion! I presume you run a Bitcoin full node and a Lightning node yourself?
I will quickly shut down the witness node I run ranked 50th which pays me about sats 750,000 per month. Clearly those funds when converted to sats are an illusion and the multiple Bitcoins I’ve collected in cold storage over the last 4 years from working within Hive will evaporate at some point.
BTW my witness ranking comes because real people with a combined investment in Hive of 153,884,113,642 sats (1,538.84 BTC) from 220 individual accounts have voted for me. I’ve only been a witness for 4 months but the years I spent doing useful stuff on Hive built my reputation to a point that when I started a witness I picked up votes quite quickly.
Perhaps I should refuse the 133,000 sats per DAY the DAO pays me to run the various other services. This comes to me because people vote for my proposal in a similar way to the witnes position.
I’ll stop posting on Hive (where I typically make 166,000 sats per post or more, funnily enough someone gave me a single tip of 71,000 sats in addition to the payout I’ll get in 7 days).
This is what happens when a core protocol includes value exchange AND instead of giving all inflation to hardware operators, some of it goes elsewhere for things like dev work or content.
I just checked, my Lightning node made 95,000 sats routing last month. A high water mark for me. 26,000 sats is my monthly average over the last year. I presume you run a Bitcoin full node and a Lightning node yourself?

You have Google Captcha on your support page.
The spec for Lightning Addresses allows a minimum other than 1. Your site doesnt work with in spec addresses.
Why do you need to verify sending a Sat? Once you get the response from /.well-known/lnurlp that's more than enough to confirm.
The recipient might have liquidity issues or server downtime generating an invoice at any time in the future but that's just part of normal operation for Lightning Addresses.

The TL;DR is that Mastodon becomes a hideous resource hog at scale, and this is almost an ^n problem with federation.
If you want some fun, post a link on a Mastadon site and then watch as dozens of instances all download it simultaneously. If a popular account shares your link it's like a DDOS attack.

If you take a look at my profile you'll see I'm using [email protected] as my NIP-05 identity but then I have a walletofsatoshi Lightning address.
This means you can tip very small amounts.
If you then want to gather up Lightning and send it to Hive, I have big channels with Wallet of Satoshi so there should be very low fees.

I've had a good look at the Zap system and it's not fully appropriate for me to add it to the Hive Lightning Bridge.
I suggest you get a Wallet of Satoshi account and use their Lightning Address system.
Still use v4v.app for NIP-05
Reasons: Zaps are often too small, I won't deal with zaps below 1000. It would also force me to join two systems which I don't want to join.
It also puts a big load on the receiving system, Let #[0] handle that.
Anyone needs more explanation let me know.
