@nprofile…xznw Seems it is vibe-coded (1258 commits from week of 5 July), so why bother?

@nprofile…29up Many companies (and I mean developers, actually) believe it is impossible to create games without a full engine like Unity, Unreal and "maybe-if-your-game-is-very-simple" Godot.
Sometimes I'm called crazy to study C++ and use a framework to create games, even though gamedevs has been doing that for decades 🤷

@nprofile…valu I'm more surprised to see copilot being used (outside a MS project, like Roslyn), AFAIK it is one of the least useful (being claude being the most used, but it works on a app so it is not as public).
I'm doing some experiments using Theia IDE and Sabiá-4 (brazilian LLM model, it is a fine tune of another model afaik), still trying to figure out where to go on this (as this technology will impact me).

@nprofile…3q9y what's fascinating to me about this is, UX and UI design is much more discussed nowadays than in 2000s (I guess? At least in Brazil I'm mostly sure it is)

I don't know if it's nostalgia, but it's interesting to see older programs and feel that they were more interesting than today's ones.
Like this Windows Media Player screenshot, which basically Spotify interface if you think about it.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Media_Player#/media/File:Windows_Media_Player_12,_under_Windows_11.png
And yeah, I think is partly nostalgia, because I did used computers at that time, and I didn't used WMP actually, just straight opened mp3 files directly.
The UI design though... good times

@nprofile…e330 I'm pretty glad O3DE is an alternative, since it has a similar component-entity model (the major difference is on scripting, which is lua or C++, and uses events)

I got curious why AAA games are called "AAA"...
According to wikipedia¹:
> The term was likely borrowed from the credit industry's bond ratings, where "AAA" bonds represent the safest investment opportunity and are the most likely to meet their financial goals.
And this explains so much things in this industry.

@nprofile…sht7 Interesting choice of them taking Bazzite, it's basically a "fedora-based steam os", it's aimed at gaming.
It built on top of Universal Blue, which I don't know much, but on the website it cites the other distros built on it, that are more aimed at desktop usage.

@nprofile…gvnm I'm not sure if I have anything new to contribute, since great comments and points have already been made in the comments.
At least for me, stopping following the news so closely, reducing social media, learning new things and doing something completely outside of the computer screen helped me to get a fresh air from a quite bad time I was in.
So, in any case, I hope you have a great week and year ✨

Dithering and dust particle effects :3
This is likely the last visual effects to be added for the time being, next is UIs.
Also, lesson learned:
After seeing the demo of Abyss X Zero development (from the devs of Unsighted) at Festival Jogatório and how they did the vertical slice first is definitively the way to go.
Next game I'll make these visual sooner instead of doing them that late.

@npub1aw2…8vv5 I didn't existed on 90s, but during 2014 (I think), that is, the peak of 🇧🇷 economical and political crisis, I said to my parents that I got bad luck on living on 2010's
They said that today (2014) was much better than 80's to 90's
Indeed it was horrible: absurd and unstable inflation and everyone being openly homophobic and racist, everything thanks to the dictatorship on the decades prior to that
Things got absolutely downhill these years, but I'm skeptical that "human peak" exists

There are many amazing talks about Blender being pubished due to Blender Conference.
However, you don't need to use Youtube to watch them! They're also being published on their PeerTube instance, @npub1ush…xyl8 !
And yes, since PeerTube uses ActivityPub, you can browse, like and share, and even subscribe with your mastodon (or any other federated software) account!
Anyway, enjoy blender conference!
