In a world where governments are tightening their control over speech and money, the right to choose how we express ourselves—both in words and in value—is more important than ever.
I’ve just returned from the Human Rights Foundation’s Global Bitcoin Summit, where I connected with freedom fighters, developers, and advocates from around the world. I wanted to share my gratitude and a few key takeaways from these inspiring conversations.
But first, a big thank you to the whole team at @HRF, @gladstein, @arshmolu, @ck_SNARKs, @femilonge, and others who curated an incredible group of presenters and attendees. I also wanted to thank the incredible team at Bitcoin Park @bitcoinpark_, including @JoshBitcoinPark, @harry_sudock, @bitkite, and ODELL, for hosting such a fantastic event!

This summit and these conversations reinforced my optimism about the future, despite the challenges we face.
Words are tools to express thought. Money is a tool to express what we need and value.
Human rights currently protect freedom of speech in parts of the world—the ability to express thoughts—but there are no protections for the freedom to choose our money. As governments move toward Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), they will seek to control not just speech, but also the forms of money we use to express our needs and values.
The right to choose our money is key to protecting other freedoms. Just as free speech supports democracy, freedom of money lets us act according to our values without interference.
At the Human Rights Foundation Global Bitcoin Summit, I met individuals committed to empowering others to use Bitcoin to protect their rights. Together, we’re building a future where Bitcoin, or "freedom money," safeguards both our speech and our wealth.
While governments attempt to limit freedom through CBDCs, we are creating a financial system and education that upholds human rights and enhances global prosperity. It’s a privilege to work with others who share this mission and are dedicated to building a better world together.
The future is bright!
