I don't like that people use security as an angle when criticizing the use of AI in KeePassXC. If a project accepts public contributions, this means there will be malicious actors trying to smuggle in code which weakens security. The project must therefore have a solid review process in place to ensure this doesn't happen.
If you see AI as this huge security threat, then you don't trust this review process. But then you shouldn't have trusted the software at any time before to begin with.

When discussing Bluesky, people on here really need to stop thinking in terms of instances, i.e. running the *entire* stack themselves.
If many people run only parts of it -- and this is happening now that running relays has become easier -- and members of the network spread out, then that's perfectly fine. If your relay does some bullshit, you can take your PDS to a different one and get to keep your entire history. Relay admins and PDS admins are less incentivized to play stupid blocking politics because neither are a useful boundary for communities. This is *better* than what we have here.
The real problem is getting people to spread out to different PDSes and relays because most simply don't care about decentralization. This is pretty much like the "mastodon.social vs. the rest of the fediverse" situation, just more severe.

Honestly, a lot of it also comes down to emojis as a concept just being overall not well thought-out. I recently complained about how they're handled in software, too.
What we need are two things:
- Emoji variations that are selected depending on the background. This would fix many design issues.
- An API to enumerate emojis so that software devs don't need to reinvent the same thing over and over and over again. Applications only need to ship their own emojis because they can't detect if an emoji is available or not. It wouldn't look good if there were Unicode character placeholders in the picker or received texts where someone can use newer emojis that you don't have yet.

It sucks that I want to lash out when people say an emoji I made is hard to see on certain backgrounds, or that they dislike the outline, etc. It's not that they're wrong, but here are the facts:
- I am painfully aware about legibility on various backgrounds.
- Ensuring good legibility on dark backgrounds means using a lighter color. But then the color starts looking too different from what it should be. Crows are black.
- Also side-note: Crows don't glow when you look at them in the dark, so it's actually pretty realistic if the emojis aren't 100% visible on dark backgrounds.
- I'm fed up with restricting my imagination when all the other emoji makers - and I'm talking about the big ones like Google, Microsoft etc - allow themselves to not give a shit all the time. The gray I chose has the same lightness as Noto's blackbird emoji. It is lighter than the gray in various other emojis.

Note that the takeaway isn't "AI sucks" but rather that developers felt it made them faster even though the numbers showed the exact opposite. That may be due to the output quality, but also due to inexperience with using these tools.
