Arizona Republicans are moving to criminalize community activists sharing real-time ICE alerts, with Senate Bill 1635 making “unlawful alerting” a class 1 misdemeanor—punishable by six months in jail and $2,500. While activists use social media to warn residents about federal immigration agents—especially amid aggressive deportation efforts—Republicans see it as obstruction, pushing back with threats of prosecution and even calls for investigations. Despite legal protections under the First Amendment, some officials aim to silence these warnings, but legal experts confirm free speech rights remain protected. The lengths the GOP will go through to help Trump is truly astonishing: https://azmirror.com/2026/02/19/arizona-republicans-back-bill-to-jail-people-for-blowing-whistles-to-warn-of-ice-presence/ #FreeSpeech #Immigration #Activism #CivilRights #ArizonaPolitics #firstamendment

A Salem woman, identified only as Maria, was injured when ICE agents racially profiled her, broke her car window, and pulled her out, leaving after discovering her passport. She suffered a concussion, torn rotator cuff, and bruised ribs, and remains terrified to leave her home. Her injuries mark the first extensive harm to a citizen in Oregon linked to such profiling cases. Union leader Johnny Earl condemns the violence, emphasizing that immigrant workers, like Maria, deserve dignity and respect. Advocates demand accountability and justice. Green activist Greta Thunberg was arrested in London during a pro-Palestinian protest, accused of supporting a proscribed organization under the Terrorism Act after holding a sign backing Palestine prisoners. The arrest follows earlier detentions related to a protest against a building linked to Israeli defense firm Elbit Systems, with police citing concern over her support for Palestine Action, labeled as a terrorist group by the UK government. Thunberg's involvement underscores her ongoing activism on Palestine issues, amid global debate over Gaza and rights. Will her arrest spark wider protests or repercussions? Eileen Higgins has claimed a historic victory in the Miami mayor’s race, projected by NBC News, marking the first time Democrats will hold the office in nearly 30 years. The former Miami-Dade County commissioner secured 59% of the vote against Republican Emilio González, who was endorsed by Donald Trump. González conceded late Tuesday night. This win signifies a major political shift in Miami, with the city’s longstanding Republican dominance finally broken, even as Miami-Dade as a whole has trended Republican in recent elections. The race was deeply influenced by national issues such as affordability, Trump’s waning influence, and immigration policies, themes expected to shape future midterm contests. Will this victory signal a broader Democratic resurgence in Florida? At a massive “No Kings” rally in NYC, 82-year-old Vietnam vet Fred Pereira slammed ICE agents’ actions, calling them “outrageous” and likening them to a paramilitary force, not real soldiers: “Soldiers fight other soldiers. Soldiers do not fight women and children.” Pereira urged fearful Americans to protest now—“or bow down later”—echoing a wider theme of the rallies. Lawmakers like Sen. Schumer and Bernie Sanders joined, denouncing Trump for enabling billionaires to hijack the economy, while Bill Nye warned of the “possible end of our Republic.” For more on these passionate voices and nationwide protests: https://www.mediaite.com/media/tv/vietnam-vet-at-no-kings-rally-torches-ice-agents-soldiers-do-not-fight-women-and-children/ #NoKings #Protest #ICE #Trump #Democracy #Rally

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, once seen as Wall Street’s most Democrat-friendly boss, has sharply criticized Democrats and expressed skepticism about NYC mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani, calling him “more Marxist than socialist.” Despite ideological differences, Dimon says he’ll offer support if Mamdani wins, citing his duty as a civic leader. Dimon admits capitalism “has a lot to fix,” but worries about Democrats dictating values and fears the city’s shift left. While Mamdani’s base is young and anti-capitalist, Dimon insists stable city leadership matters more than party. Democrat Abigail Spanberger has surged to a double-digit lead over Republican Winsome Earle-Sears in Virginia’s governor’s race, per a new Emerson College/The Hill poll. Spanberger’s support jumped from 42% to 52% since January, driven by big gains among independents (now backing her by 19 points), men (shifting from an Earle-Sears lead to even), and voters under 50 (now 27 points ahead). Earle-Sears struggles to expand her older voter base, while Spanberger enjoys a 51% favorability rating. Trump remains unpopular in Virginia, with just 42% approval. Early Tuesday, about 300 ICE and federal agents executed a dramatic raid—complete with Black Hawk helicopters and agents rappelling onto rooftops—in Chicago’s Southside, supposedly targeting “dangerous gang members.” The operation netted just 37 arrests, though officials only sought six high-priority targets linked to the Tren de Aragua gang. DHS hasn’t clarified how many arrested were violent criminals versus ordinary residents with immigration issues. Critics say the show of force was massively disproportionate, raising questions about priorities and the true impact on the community. What’s the real story behind the raid? kakistocracy thy name is Laura Loomer:
Far-right influencer Laura Loomer’s complaints to Secretary Marco Rubio about injured Gazan children receiving U.S. medical visas led to the State Department halting all Gaza visitor visas, sparking controversy. Loomer—who has used her social media clout to push officials out of government and recently targeted these war-wounded children as “security threats”—has quickly become a powerful, unelected voice shaping Trump administration policy. Rubio defended the visa pause, citing broader security and congressional concerns, while Loomer’s Islamophobic rhetoric continues to influence U.S. decisions. Good for her!
Fed Governor Lisa Cook is pushing back against calls from President Trump and FHFA head Bill Pulte to resign over unproven “mortgage fraud” allegations tied to a four-year-old application. Cook says she “has no intention of being bullied to step down” and is gathering facts to address any legitimate financial questions. The brewing controversy comes as Trump ramps up pressure on the Fed to cut rates and as the DOJ looks into similar claims against other political opponents. Cook, a Biden nominee, remains firm in her post for now, promising transparency amid the scrutiny. White man convicted of fraud calls on black fed chair to resign over fraud. A blatant attempt to take over the fed with his colluder (s) at his beck and call.
President Trump is urging Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook to resign, amplifying calls for her ouster after allegations from FHFA head Bill Pulte that Cook falsified documents to secure favorable mortgages—a claim now under requested investigation by AG Pam Bondi. Trump’s push comes as he fills other Fed board seats, recently nominating Stephen Miran after Adriana Kugler’s departure, and fuels speculation about who’ll replace Fed Chair Jerome Powell when his term expires in May 2026. Trump continues to pressure the Fed for faster rate cuts, intensifying scrutiny of its leadership. Hundreds of West Virginia National Guard troops are headed to D.C. to support Trump’s federal crackdown on crime and homelessness, part of his sweeping effort to overhaul local policing by federalizing D.C. law enforcement. The deployment follows Trump’s executive order activating National Guard units and drawing both praise and concern from residents and local leaders, who are legally required to cooperate but uneasy with the takeover’s scope. An attempt to install the DEA chief as police commissioner was reversed after a lawsuit, but D.C. police must now work closely with federal immigration enforcement. How will this reshape the nation’s capital? This is soooo ridiculous...
A divided federal appeals court has cleared the way for President Trump to resume mass firings at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, reversing a lower court’s block on layoffs. Up to 1,500 CFPB jobs are at risk, though dismissals are on hold as plaintiffs consider further appeals. Critics warn this could gut consumer protections and tip power to corporations. The court found the lower court lacked jurisdiction, even though Trump’s intent to dismantle the CFPB was acknowledged. What will the future hold for consumer safeguards? Eugenics comes to Silicon Valley. Making Gattica great again.
After years trying to prevent AI from destroying humanity, mathematician Tsvi Benson-Tilsen now champions "genetic optimization"—using tech to help create smarter humans who could keep up with AI. In Silicon Valley, this isn’t sci-fi: parents pay up to $50K for embryo IQ screening and high-end matchmakers report tech CEOs looking for Ivy League partners to boost their future kids’ smarts. Advocates claim it’s about humanity’s survival; critics say it reflects Silicon Valley’s obsession with merit and ‘good genes.’ Should tech shape the next generation? Possibly the most important story of the week:
New findings from Trump’s DOJ and FBI claim Epstein died by suicide with no “client list” or blackmail scheme, clashing hard with long-held MAGA conspiracies that he was murdered. Infighting erupted when FBI director Kash Patel and deputy director Dan Bongino backed the official version, shocking Trump supporters who believed Epstein’s crimes implicated high-profile elites. A missing minute of surveillance footage further fueled paranoia, adding to allegations of a cover-up. Even allies like Tucker Carlson and Elon Musk slammed the administration’s stance.
