Better with GarlicOS than the pre-installed OnionOS - but both work fine I guess so all good

Yep, just checking my instance logs and anything related to alpha.polymaths.social is getting a 401 Unauthorised response.
Any other instance admins getting these? I'm seeing it on 3 of my instances, I don't think it's just me!

Well, that was fun - thought I'd do a little filesystem cleansing and ended up accidentally (I did not check my work, tut tut tut) removed fedi VM ( I thought it was on a different disk, whoops!) - joy!
#Backups are available of course and restoring now. #Snac2 being the easiest to restore so that's back online first! I've lost today, but that's OK I've been pretty quiet!

@npub10ck…z9cu nice. I run a few servers on freebsd and it's been such a pleasure I've just set up an old laptop on it too to tinker with. I've learned a lot in the last few days and I like it.

update: apparently the web design company are going to be sat watching it all day to ensure they can take action when it changes
OK, orrrr, we could just arrange a time in the future, change the TTL so it's likely to happen at that time, then proceed as planned at that time so nobody is waiting around watching a screen for too long
right!? Please, somebody tell me I'm not being insane here!

I don't know if I'm just getting myself unnecessarily angry and frustrated or if someone else is just being unhelpful, but if I'm asked to liaise with a web company about making DNS changes so they can move a website to a new server, I expect to liaise with them, plan the time when it's desired to happen, switch the TTL to a low time temporarily so things can switch quickly when needed, and ultimately make the switchover have a little downtime as possible
What I don't expect if the first email after the "can you liaise" one being "can you change the A record to x.x.x.x as soon as possible"
garrrr, does nobody else plan these things? just do it and hope for the best? FFS

at least the first one I installed for use. I used a Slax Live ISO for a small period of time, back in the early days of that, that was probably my first intro to Linux. Or #Clonezilla of course.

I've self hosted a few different instances, Masto, Pleroma, Akkoma, Rebased, CalcKey, and more recently GoToSocial but snac is, by far, the simplest to set up
