I just did an update froman VERY old version. It was not too difficult to fill my list with defaults but why do I need to do such a complex thing in order for it to work at all?
I'd prefer to do it the dumb way over have it broken.

Moral ist IMHO eine Variante von "Was Du nicht willst was man ...".
"Du" ist in dem Fall Recht gut definiert. Die Geister scheiden sich beim Begriff "man".
Allerdings werden dann in dem Rahmen noch allerlei andere Dinge drübergestreut die sich dann mit dem Grundprinzip mehr oder weniger widersprechen.

Not so sure about 1.
Even if it would be possible to implement it via OP_RETURN, you would only have 80 bytes and probably a huge percentage would be gone for management overhead leaving just a tiny fraction for the payload.
So economically, it's now order of magnitudes cheaper to spam.
We can just hope that RGB is outcompeting it quite fast so that it'll vanish.
I"m still surprised that the mempool is not clogged.
The biggest threat is child porn as some sort of poison pill. Look at how outraged people like Francis or Luke are.
Luke is already implementing mempool censoring Features and others pointed out that mempool censoring won't work..
But I haven't heard anything about pruning. Is that even possible? If it's possible to prune, why isn't it possible to mempool-censoring?

I think you always NEED to depend on a third party because you want to be sure that your content get stored somewhere. As not everybody can store every content, you need to pay someone to store your content and you're dependent on that third party.
