Trump and Netanyahu spent a Washington photo op arguing over who is israel’s “number one friend.” The same week, israeli jets destroyed a mosque and displacement tents in Gaza City, killing one Palestinian and wounding a dozen more, under a ceasefire both men call a diplomatic win. The people living under that same imperial weight are named and reachable in this week’s list below. Give directly.

I still don’t get the hesitations, I genuinely can’t relate. Framing a $200 grocery request as a risk that someone will just blow it on fast food is a pretty harmful stereotype. For one, $200 is a very real, standard monthly grocery budget in much of the world, including here in Indonesia. But more importantly, when we hold onto the fear that poor people won’t stretch funds “responsibly,” we end up withholding help from people who are genuinely just trying to survive the month. Why would anyone police poor people’s performance of poverty as if there’s a manual for how to be poor correctly? Mutual aid asks us to let go of that need to control the recipient. Your response does explain the donor logic of charity well though, which is what mutual aid isn’t about.

I wonder why people seem to be more “moved” to show up when it’s about bills than monthly groceries needs; it’s literally for food for a month. I wonder if people are quietly demanding others to perform hunger before moving to redistribute resources. It’s really sick if you have a conscience and a presence of mind to think about it.

"I hate asking for this" in a mutual aid request is… Idk what to call that. Please don't say that. You're allowed to ask for help. You deserve help without any requirements. Capitalism makes you believe that your basic necessities to survive and dignity are mutually exclusive. Capitalism makes you believe that nobody is going to save you. If you're already in this space where strangers help each other, where strangers are consciously asking for help from other strangers, that shame has no reason to follow you in. What are we doing, if not proving that lie wrong?

Feel free to tag me in your mutual aid requests for a boost. This is not a bot account; an actual human operates it. This account will post the weekly requests roundup of requests under @npub1g4f…3s0w’s mutual aid checkpoint and the hashtags #mutualaidspace and/or #MutualAidRequest. My follower count may be small, but the federation relay control plugin I set up makes up for that.
That said, this week’s roundup is going to be delayed by a day or two because of some persistent technical issues. But fret not, I will be back in action soon, insyaAllah.
