Instance admin. Not a professional sysadmin like some here; fuck me, I'm not even a *good* sysadmin. But I wanted in on Mastodon, and "Spin up your own server" felt easier than figuring out which one to join

Goal is empathy, posts are typically about daily life and home / car / computer repairs and events I guess? I dunno, I've been posting often enough you can just scroll and see

Huh - I'd have assumed a bi-metallic strip that opens or closes based on waste heat from the oven,
but I only have one photo to go off it, and the person *right there* suspects electromagnet, so the hell do I know

But I *like* my wires. They don't run out of battery, or act up based on who's using a microwave next door. They don't have a dongle to lose, or have weird delay or echo issues - especially nice for headsets, where I want as close to realtime as possible.
I think you might get a skewed result without the option for "None", is what I'm driving at 😬

Okay but like,
on this distro *in particular*, or is this an *every* distro problem?

When geeks call for Linux on Mobile, do you believe "Android is Linux" to be a good-faith interpretation of what they mean?
Or should "Mobile Linux [running a mainline kernel without un-updateable vendor blobs]" be stated explicitly every time?

financially, I'm "stuck" with the Tuzu for now (poor me /s)
I'll keep the lecoule in mind next time, or more likely ask about for a recommendation from you or Mastodon in general

it's the Tuzu, with Sailor ink cartridges, Harbin ink, and... a third bottle I've tried but don't have with me to check the brand of
The Harbin & other bottle are much more forgiving with my medium-fineness Lamy too, so I don't assume it's the ink

Realizing just how *fast* my fine-tipped Sailor #FountainPen dries 😐
It writes so nicely, and I do need a fine tip for my work "log" book, but god is it a pain in the ass over the weekend

Grabbing (and seeding) torrents on private trackers,
sharing my Plex server with friends and family,
downloading game patches for Steam (an 8GB patch landed for Marvel Rivals just an hour or so ago),
or up-or-downloading photos and videos to the NAS at home, to back up, to stream, or to share.
Then doing all of the above when there are others in my household doing the same. If you and I both consistently want to use the same half-gig at the same time, paying for half a gig will be a limiting factor

Mostly replying to warn against anything gamer-branded (maybe not relevant, but saving even one person makes the warning worth it IMO),
until I remembered the actual video from GN, with a recommendation in the $220-$230USD range
Linked to the start of the actual chair review, but I thought the entire thing was entertaining

So the #PinephonePro, with Sleepwalk, has pretty damn good standby battery life
Active battery life is another story, however
So I've picked up several spare batteries (thank god #Pine64 thought to make them compatible with Samsung ones) and an external charger
But shutting down takes longer than I want to, so I typically just pop off the back and drop the battery, pop in a new one, and off we go
That *finally* bit me to-day, and I had to fsck the disk manually from a seperate install
So I guess I should be responsible now and shut down properly when possible. Even with the journaling file system

I'm seeing far too many people kvetching about the DoJ's demand that #Chrome be sold off by #Alphabet
But Google used their dominant marketshare in online maps, document editing, and video streaming & hosting, to gain marketshare in web browsers ("This site works best in Google Chrome" my ass)
That's something Microsoft (among other companies) has already been called out on, and for the better
Divesting Chrome and breaking a monopoly sounds like exactly what the DoJ *should* be doing

HA
Music via #bluetooth on #Mobian on my #PinephonePro no longer sounds like it's being played underwater
Secret seems to have been editing /etc/bluetooth/main.conf
Line 65 was set to off (I assume by default??), instead of multiple
Moderately heavily tagged because either I'll look for this again, or because it'll help someone else. Both would be good though

I thought if they ran out they had to shut down for the day? Like a pool without a lifeguard has to close?
