Also clunkier things like LocalSend and even Syncthing. they require a step or two, but to me that step is worth the sovereignty.
For instance, with Syncthing, I literally have a "clipboard.txt" file synced p2p between all of my devices. I copy paste into that on one device and a moment later that "clipboard" is updated on all my devices. ...One hidden benefit is it has an arbitrary history. If i copy twice on an apple device, the previous copy is overwritten :P

I think Bitcoin is actually just all of Austrian economics instantiated in the real world. I mean that literally: Bitcoin is not a physical thing, it is an **idea**. Specifically, it is a constellation of a set of narrow ideas from Menger onwards, instantiated as pure information yet able to perturb our physical reality as if it were A Thing.
It is one of those rare moments that you typically only see in art or spirituality where a pure idea can break the fourth wall into physical reality in a nearly supernatural manner.
I could get on board with this as a religion, since the main characters are Human Action and subjective value - all of it reduceable to easily understood and observable phenomena, yet with an element of ineffable spirit where the worlds collide.

Okay I had an idea today. I've got some lightning channels with way too much inbound liquidity and figured the best way to handle that is... get some payments coming in!
I used to do a lot of pen and ink illustration - mostly "1960s comix"-inspired stuff, lots of cross-hatching, brushed ink and outlandishness. I thought the next best thing I could offer up to nostr customers after software development work is one-of-a-kind, original ink drawings. Probably small-ish stuff, simply framed. But always originals, never prints or digital files.
**Below is a random collection of a few doodles I found lying around the old hard drive to give a sense of my line style.**
I bought https://lightn.ink (Lightnink - Lightning for Ink, get it?!) on a whim with the intention of setting up a simple storefront for lightning payments. I'd also do nostr marketplace.
So the #askNostr part of the post: Would you trade sats for drawings? I figure this crowd would be into roughly Bitcoin-themed stuff. I'd very happily take direct requests ("Draw my avatar struggling out of a bakery with armfuls of bagels!" wtf, I dunno - you come up with the ideas. I'm not good at that part) like some kind of very slow, very human, image-generation LLM Proof of Work machine.
Or maybe you suggest ideas for series you'd actually want - like a limited edition of 10 different portraits of Fed chairmen with an erection at the helm of a money printer or something.
I want to join the nostr Lightning economy with some products of my own. Whattdya want?! I'll do it.

The scariest dystopia I can imagine is one that seems inevitable: Neuralink-like device connected to AIs so that your thoughts become prompts, and the subsequent thoughts, ideas and mental images are indistinguisable from AI responses.
It's bad enough knowing that all "your" thoughts are downstream of everything you've ever perceived or interacted with - including the hypnotic sludge from overtly manipulative algorithms. The only thing worse is being unable to discern which thoughts are "yours" and which are API responses from MegaCorp's AI servers.

The next time someone complains about "greed", ask them what they mean by that word - it's a great start to an eye-opening conversation. in a world of purely voluntary exchange, "greed" is meaningless: people only get rich if they bring value to others. you might _want_ more than you can get, but you can't GET it I'd nobody gives it to you. so traditional "greed" is nullified before it gets anywhere.
people who talk about "greed" are most likely actually mad at coercive structures that entrench monopolies which could never exist in a free market.

have you tried to make a no-KYC protom account lately? they require a "human proof" email address. if you are highly concerned with leaking or connecting identity, this is a no-go.
I guess you could use lnemail to just receive this verification, but my point is that it is very difficult to create an email account without already having one - but lnemail seems to allow this (at least for now) so why not expand your market?

a use case for sending that I've had recently: short-ish term full email accessibility. Imagine you join a private chat fully pseudonymously and you want to coordinate working on some project with some people from the group. you want to be able to coordinate asynchronously over email, create accounts for this project, email with other people who AREN'T in the private group (maybe they're normie-world clients and the group is a bunch of shadowy super coders for hire).
you want to do these things without giving up your identity to KYC. it's **always** the email service (or phone service) that is the hardest to no-KYC.
all that said: you might only need this temporary pseudonym for a month or however long the project runs. after that you want a new one. a send/receive and pay-by-lightning KYC-free email is perfect for this. and I don't think it exists already.

what prevented a competing bank from forming and charging slightly lower fees and breaking that monopoly? could it be that a high barrier of laws and regulations ensure that it is too difficult to start a new, experimental, competive bank? (or one which otherwise upsets the entrenched interests who exist close to the State power centers?)
I would wager that it isn't "hard to start a bank" because the service itself is difficult to run, but rather because of laws and regulations that claim to "protect the customer". If I'm right about that, then the laws are clearly achieving the opposite of their goal if a monopoly was able to form and persist without natural competition doing its work.
The aim of entrepreneur in a free market is to come along and find a way to provide the same service cheaper, or a better service for the same price by reducing input costs (thereby drawing away customers from the higher cost product). when that opportunity exists, someone WILL take it, if it's open to them. why wouldn't they?
if, in a free market, productivity doesn't increase / prices don't come down there can only be two reaons why: you found the bottom. OR: someone is coercievly intervening (and the market is no longer free).

a free market doesn't create competition. competition is the base nature of free individuals trading freely with eachother. competion creates the free market - monopolistic, violent States perturb competion and create perverse incentives. you can't centrally plan a system that "creates proper competition". the originating central plan is the poison that ruins the downstream market.

you're describing war and violent conflict, not market-based voluntary exchange. yes, there will always be belligerent actors who choose violence, and that's what potent defense of private property is for.
I believe the strategy of violence will tend to lose / lead to financial and resource ruin on the part of the initiator of violence, if he is surrounded by the right kind of neighbors

not as long as they don't claim a violence monopoly over land that they don't legitimately own and improve. which is much tougher when you have neighbors (corporate or persons) who don't appreciate you "claiming" their land by force.
without such a monopoly, these corporations don't have the same power to tax involuntarily, so poorer services would fail, unlike States.
Even if everyone sold all their property to **one** single owner, and agreed to a "volubtary tax"... There is a point of maximized revenue (the Laffer point) that they wouldn't go beyond, as a financially good policy. The State doesn't have pecuniary motives, so it doesn't follow sensible rules like this.

I was talking about doing it with cashu and not requiring customers to buy or even know about Bitcoin. they "just use that card thing that all the local businesses accept at a discount" and they can top it up at any merchant (this is where the Bitcoin transaction happens behind the scenes) or cash out if they were just a visitor to town for the day and didn't spend it all.

I want to do this for local businesses with a physical tap to pay card. the retailers save 4%+ credit card processing fees, which means users of the local payment system can get a perpetual discount everywhere. and newcomers to town can get enticed into the ecash/lightning world without knowing it.

does something like this exist already on nostr? : Uncle Jim-enabled nsecs + private community "beginner's island"
explaining:
- Uncle Jim (UJ) sets up a relay intended to serve a private set of users
- there is some special client app these people will use
- the users, when they are invited and create npubs, choose a username and passsword (rather than record an nsec or see the word "key").
- the username becomes their NIP05, the password decrypts their nsec in the client for signing. Ideally, UJ never stores their nsec plaintext, though he is running some server that holds the encrypted versions.
- everyone uses this relay and client happily, seeing it as some community-focused discussion app, without realizing they're using nostr (yet)
- UJ (and perhaps others) can interact with people in the private community, but can also access the rest of nostr, of course
- as appropriate, UJ's little nostr fledglings can learn about the rest of nostr, take control of their keys and go off into the rest of ecosystem, too (while keeping access to the private group)

How to instantly drop a grudge:
You **could**, theoretically, drop any grudge at any moment, if you were sufficiently forgiving/enlightened/understanding/whatever.
Therefore, the fact that you don't drop the grudge is either:
- A failing of yours
- Or: you don't find those qualities to be important.
If it's the former, congratulations - it's not the other person's fault. therefore: grudge dropped; as assenting that it's not the other person's fault is synonymous with letting the grudge go.
If it's the latter, you don't care to drop the grudge anyway so what are you even doing here? go off and be belligerent somewhere else.

what about if someone is following me on nostr but I only post notes to a single personal relay (completely uncensorable) and they don't have that relay in their subscriptions?
my reach to them is zero, but my speech is unlimited (to my own relay). my point is reach is an emergent property of the current dynamics of the network topology, infrastructure, costs, client software, etc. speech is different. I can post to my own relay with 100% confidence in freedom of my speech. but I can't control my reach (I can nudge it) just like someone else cannot force me to broadcast their message (their reach)
