My kids pretty much eat it all before i get much of it. Have a good time with it! npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Lately I’ve been working on replacing some corner posts that have been pulling out and letting the wires sag. I don’t think I’d want to build fence all the time but it is very satisfying to get these corners set. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill https://open.substack.com/pub/immanuelstar/p/proverbs-41-9-characters-in-the-book?r=1qlk63&utm_medium=ios npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Loading up 11-52 dry fertilizer to plant with air seeder for the upcoming corn crop. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Boy they got me today at tsc. Freedom ranger meat birds for $1. So i got 23 of them. Called late afternoon and all the layer pullets were also at $1. So I got 18 more. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Use bait boxes outside. I hired a pest control company to set them out and check them and refill them every other month. It’s shocking how much they have to refill. A lot of times the bait is completely gone. I haven’t had any issues with mice since then. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Don’t see too many of these on nostr. I’m fertilizing wheat with 28%. Usually we apply ammmonia pre plant on our wheat. However we’ve started planting some wheat early in harvested corn for grazing with cattle and calves. So there are a few fields that get some liquid applied in the late winter. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Had a good day of shooting yesterday. Was feeding cattle and saw this bobcat running by and got him with a single shot. Then took my young Wirehair dog out and got into some roosters. She figured out the pointing part quick and brought the birds back most of the way to me. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Weird way to make ice cream but it’s full of eggs and cream and uses monkfruit to sweeten. My wife thinks it’s excellent so it must be alright. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill I just finished listening to The Mandibles. It seems to be highly recommended on nostr. It was a good listen and definitely worth it. I realized that I have a wide range of interests when reading. I listened to Mandibles during the day and would read Enemy of God by Bernard Cornwell in the evenings. It’s a novel of Arthur. Quite the variety. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill I bought a tree shear and have been cutting down cedars in the pasture. It’s a satisfying job to do. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill How are you carrying it? If you don’t mind me asking. Ruger makes a solid revolver npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Went to Lasada last Saturday. First time I’d been shooting clays in a while. First time to take my family also. My kids took turns keeping score and pushing the buttons to throw the clays. It was a good time npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill We’re at a rock the plains festival in Manhattan Ks. Bunch of red dirt music. Pat Green, Randy Rogers Band types of music. Seems like smoking cigarettes in making a comeback. I’m sort of shocked at how many people are smoking. Is it making a comeback or has it never really left? npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill The Garage in Salina, KS had a yellow theme going on. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Started wheat harvest today npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Irrigation for peppers for when it gets hot. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill That looks real nice npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Saw an ad on the classifieds for quail. It’s been a year or so since I had some so I got 12 of them. Almost 6 weeks old. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Sure is nice weather for January 16. Guess the weekend is gonna be bitterly cold but then it warms up again after that. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill This year I discovered an author named Peter Heller. The first book I read was the Dog Stars. It’s about a man and his surviving after a disease wiped out most of the population. This was wrote way before Covid, maybe 2012 or so. He writes it in a way that describes in detail the monotony and simple things that happen everyday after 90% of the population disappears. He finds a friend that likes guns and survival. The main guy knows how to fly. They fix up a plane and fly around looking for supplies. They have to survive intruders to their place. It seems like there’s no point to the story but I think that’s just it. There’s no zombies or government trying to get everyone or any other apocalyptic scenarios. It’s just about surviving one day at a time. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill If you are wanting to better yourself for the new year, or anytime really, two podcasts i recommend are the Pat Flynn Show and the Dan John podcast. Pat’s show usually has Dan on once a week to answer questions. They both take a reasonable approach to health and fitness. Basically, get your protein and some veggies and lift weights as heavy as you can and as regularly frequent as you can and over enough time you’ll be where you want to be. There’s no hard 75 or whatever else extreme type of workout. Basically 3 workouts a week for 52 weeks is the program. They like kettlebells but Dan was an Olympic lifter for along time. He knows how to program a workout. Both shows usually run under an hour and often more like a half hour long. Worth checking out if you are looking for a fitness podcast. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Watering cattle the fast way npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Well your mileage may differ than mine on the way you see it. But it is there and I’d say it’s a small part of the struggle between the classes. And there are many classes but they are all under the Golds. And the Reds are at the bottom. Which leads to the title of Red Rising nicely haha npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Nice setup. I’ve got one similar to it. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill I listened to all 6 of the Red Rising books, wrote by Pierce Brown. The main narrator was Tim Gerard Reynolds. IMO, hands down the best narrator. That’s all I can say about that. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill I gotta say that a good narrator to an audiobook is better than tv or a movie. It’s easy to imagine or see what is going on in an audiobook with a good narrator. Similarly, I’ve stopped listening to books because the narrator was bad. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill I’ve only read two books this year about bitcoin. So I’ll start with those. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill I’ve been reading more this year and I started reading more last year. Last year I read 25 books. Doesn’t sound like much but it comes up to about 1 book/ 2 weeks. Honestly not too shabby. This year I’m at 87 books and hope to break 90+ before the end of the year. I count audiobooks as well and that is a big part for this year. I used to think I couldn’t miss an episode of no agenda or any of the several podcasts I listen to. This year I decided to spend most of my time listening to books. I do still listen to @npub1587…kv0n on TSP quite frequently. Honestly, I’m a lot happier with listening to books instead of podcasts. I think I’ll start posting about the books I’ve read on here. Maybe I’ll see more non btc content #grownostr #books #bookstr npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Not a whole house mini split but we have an old addition that goes 90 degrees from the main part of the house. The ductwork from that side doesn’t get to the addition at all. So we did a mini split on the addition and shut the air flow off to that side. It works but the mini split has its own little issues. I had a mouse crawl up the lines from outside and go into the mini split unit and chewed up the room temp sensor. So it wouldn’t heat proper. The screens on the unit get plugged fairly easy and need cleaned every 2 weeks or so. The guys that installed it also didn’t get the drain part pointed downhill enough and sometimes it’ll start dripping water out the unit and make a mess inside. I’ve got it fixed for the leaking but it should have been done right the first time. I don’t know your setup but unless it was a perfect fit for your situation, I would not do one for a whole house. Plus it’s kind of an eye sore, having a unit in every room. Just my opinion. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Made sirloin and t-bones tonight. While the grill was still on I got some chicken thighs ready to go on. I think skin on, deboned chicken thighs are fantastic eating. I take a bit of baking powder and rub it into the thighs and then put some seasoning on that. It makes the skin crispier and delicious. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill We had a field of corn get hailed out and it was bad enough we sprayed it out and planted wheat on it really early. The cattle are loving it right now. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill I like that it stays flat. I cook it at night and then let it cool in fridge over night and then eat it cold over the next couple days. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Bacon about to go in the oven. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Got the chicken house that used to be a chicken tractor staked down and some sides put on for protection this winter. It’s down right cozy in there. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill The new dog likes to look at the birds. Good thing she is a bird dog npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Looks good npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Burgers going on the grill npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill We were hanging out and then they heard the chickens squawk. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill I don’t want to jinx it but it looks like we’ll get some good rainfall this weekend. It’d be wonderful to get a good shot of rain before the ground freezes up for the winter. Be good for the wheat and the pasture. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Went dove hunting tonight and got a limit of birds. My dog needed to cool off even though it wasn’t terrible hot. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill An appropriate post for nostr. Grilling burgers and reading about Bitcoin. #grownostr npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill The hail storm also smashed my green beans that we were enjoying. You know you can take green beans and steam them for a few minutes and then melt butter and add salt and pepper and green beans are just dynamite. So we replanted some beans and I don’t know if they’ll make any beans to eat but they look good now. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill These tomato plants got smashed with hail a month ago. I trimmed the broken limbs off and now there is nice regrowth and new flowers showing up. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill The other day we worked the cows and calves by our house before they went to grass. This guy someone got out of the pen after being worked and nobody saw him. We found him almost a week later. I had to catch him and put him in our shed. He was a bit standoffish at first but now looks forward to his bottle. Not sure if we’ll sell him or keep him awhile. Too bad, he’s a nice calf and would be doing well on grass with his mom. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill 6 tomato plants here. When it warms up some more I’ll plant a row of bush beans on each side. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill So I decided to just put all the tomatoes and peppers and eggplants out today. Supposed to be low wind and nice temps, so might as well. Then I walked by where I had planted some peas and onion bulbs. They are coming on! I kind of forgot about the peas so that was a nice surprise npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill I’m going to start hardening off some of my tomato starts. Those things have been growing like crazy, the weather forecast seems to be above freezing for a couple weeks, so I might as well get them going. #garden #grownostr npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Does any one still use a ledger hardware wallet? I’ve got an iPhone and ledger seems to be the only major hardware wallet that works with iPhone. #bitcoin npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Hey! It started raining last night and I woke up today with about an inch of rain in the gauge! Just what we needed! #farming #gardening #grownostr npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Sure looks like a good chance of rain today and tomorrow. It’d be nice to get rain instead of snow but we’ll see how it all goes. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill For some reason I’ve got the theme song from ncis stuck in my head. I haven’t watched that show in years! npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill That issues etc episode reminded me of this one by the Worthy House npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill I was looking at my fountain app new episode feed and this one from issues etc came up npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill Had a reversal a month ago so we can try for more. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill I’m banding on 11-52 fertilizer on alfalfa of all things. I think it’s one of the easiest ways to get alfalfa going in the spring. The disc openers are very low disturbance and the slots can’t even be seen in just a few days. This will be year 4 of alfalfa on this circle. I’m hoping that after another 4 or more years the pigweed seed bank will be destroyed. That’s another option to fight weeds in ag. #farming #grownostr npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill It’s kind of weird to get on here and scroll. A good different. #grownostr npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill I built a chicken tractor for my hens. I’m afraid they’d disappear on me or get into trouble if I free range them. Plus I’m hoping they will tear up the puncturevine and weeds in the yard if I run them in certain spots. We shall see. #grownostr #chickens npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill I started seeds feb 10. My tomato plants seem huge and the peppers look good but are smaller which is probably just as well. I made my own potting soil and added some mycorrhizal pellets when I dropped the seed in. #grownostr npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill This is my first winter with chickens. I had quail for the last 2 years and it was very important with the quail to keep dry and out of the wind. npub19nsk223te4szuuurnpp738g9g9hrap57cs0pzeucarjyn6vnnssq80tlt8 jabwyrill The girls seem to be doing alright with the cold today.
