Today I washed all the bases of my Cursed City miniatures.
I have less than 2 months to complete those models.
After that I need to pack all my hobby and computer stuff to prepare for moving to our new house.
I'm sceptical I'll finish the bases with my current pace, energy and motivation.

Assembling the Mortis Engine was a dumb idea.
The only way I found to store it was to separate it in two, and put it in my crystal fortress.
It's using way too much real estate there...
I was using this only as a temporary storage area for WIP projects, but it won't tolerate large models anymore.

@nprofile…gy6t @nprofile…vrgz Never she talked about her Japanese level, or what she did to try to integrate, join a community or making friends.
She talked most of the 40 minutes about English teaching and speaking English.

I'm not saying Japan is perfect, just that she's not talking about the relevant things.

Some landlords don't want foreigners, but it's the same in other countries too.

For mini painting, I'm now setting a time budget before painting, and if I see I can't go to the level I want, I'm just going to take shortcuts, and still complete it in time.
For projects where you want to maintain a good level of quality, you need to not think about time, and do relaxing things in between. Game programming can be frustrating and time consuming...

@npub1jeq…h2xs now looking specifically at your miniature, you should get a darker green, or put some shade to get darker shadows.
The green you have been using for the highlight is not vibrant enough. I would have highlighted everything with a white/grey. And then put a glaze of a very vibrant green. Mixing green with white would lose the vibrancy.

2024-11-09 12:50:18 GMT

- reply

@npub1jeq…h2xs putting water first before Nighthaunt gloom prevents getting marks at the edge of where paint was applied and you get a very smooth blend.
The wet blending allow to do the blend in one step instead of multiple layers of glaze.
Dry brushing is going to sell the spectral effect, your brush should be damp to not have a dusty effect.
For chainrasp, I've been using abadon black for the cloak. For other units, I have been using incubi darkness w/ kabalite green and sybarite green highlights

@npub1jeq…h2xs Nighthaunt was my first army, and my first miniatures were a chainrasp horde unit.
I recently painted the corpsemaster of the mortis engine, and I'm also attaching an old picture from when I started painting.
I ended up with the following recipe:
- one coat of hexwraith flame, wait for it to be completely dry
- I use clean water to wet the bottom half of the miniature
- I use Nighthaunt gloom for the top half, that I wet blend into the water
- dry brush of ulthuan grey or white grey
