Mozilla was at about 15% of the desktop market when they jettisoned the extensions that gave their browser super powers the other big browsers didn't have. They did this over the objections of tens of thousands of their users.
Two years later and their desktop usage had dropped to about 5%.
In marketing, you never turn yourself into a commodity, but that is exactly what they did.
It's the total tone-deafness of their "leadership" that is disturbing.

Did you know that dandelions are asexual -- all clones? Even though they have flowers and everything, they're actually clones.

Nice place. But we got carded a third of the time we visited. Apparently if you linger over the panel, trying to figure out which of the dozen pastries you bought, they consider it very suspicious. Meanwhile people familiar with the choices were flying in and out in seconds.
Couldn't help but think that if anyone was stealing-by-self-checkout, it would be the fast people, not the lingerers.

It looks like a very modest kit to me.
Have you ever used the fiberfix? How well did it work?
What pressure are your tires? High pressure tires are a nightmare with those tiny hand pumps.
One tiny bit of kit I carry is a valve adapter so I can use the air at garages. Depends on your tire ... and location.
Towels and wipe pads are useful after a fix.

I've never forgotten to clamp down my quick-release, mainly because they stick out if you don't finish the job. Thanks to the "lawyer's lips", it would probably not be a disaster even if you did forget for a short bit.
What I have done is forget to re-attach the brake (after a wheel on/off). Which is why it is good that you have a front and back brake.

On my Android phone, I needed *five* apps to use Nextcloud -- one to synchronize calendars & tasks, another to display calendars, another to display tasks, another (the main one) to display photos and media, and another to create notes.

I've been using Joplin for a little more than 2 years. Most of that time I've used OneDrive for syncing.
In general, it's been reliable, with just a few snags.
The main thing I worry about is that when you need to do a fresh install on a device it can take hours to bring the data over. I think most of this slowness is because of the need to decrypt ... phones aren't exactly powerhouses for heavy processing.

Obsidian is great but it is not Open Source.
That means you can wake up one day and find that they've sold themselves to some financial company that specializes in tech take-overs. This never ends well.
The main question is, can you use Obsidian without depending on specialty data structures, usually created by 3rd parties (I'm thinking "dataview", but there are others).
If not, then you are to some degree stuck inside a proprietary system, without an exit plan.

Does it seem to get hot while charging?
You could get a LIPO box or bag to use while charging. They're not foolproof, but It might provide some peace of mind.
If you're using a high wattage charger, you could get a smaller wattage one to reduce the chance of overheating.

NC did some minor update this past week, and as a consequence many of us lost the ability to use the photo app.
The fix was fairly simple, but it made me wonder if the NC developers performed bare-metal test installs, so they could the results the way non-developers would.

In the Netherlands, wouldn't this promote cars over bikes and the amazing NS transportation system?
Electric cars use half the power of ICE (other "ICE" meaning) engines. But that's still too much if you want to combat global warming. And every 5 to 10 years people need to buy new cars, which isn't good for the planet either.
To me, cars create a social dystopia. Having to spend an average 10k per year means that an auto-based society is also a poorer society.

When they removed all the extensions, which gave them the only distinctiveness they had over the other browsers, I knew they were trying to kill their own product.
Their market share fell to about a third of its original value within a year, if memory serves.

It might help to say what language you are doing and what app platform you are using.
I'm doing Dutch, mostly on web, and have almost no technical problems (there's a weird thing with speaking exercises, but they still work).
But Dutch only takes you to level 60, so maybe the languages that are getting more "love" have more problems.

In Dutch, on the desktop, I see very little sign of AI at work. To have access to AI conversations you have to pay for "Max", which is too much.
Other language companies are also using AI. Memrise pretty much over-turned it's community-based language material in place of AI-driven conversations and activities.
It would not surprise me if the other major players are also using AI behind the scenes, but more discreetly.

The original statement was that *all* the employees had been laid off which was factually incorrect.
The problem of loss of jobs related to AI is the same ongoing problem as with all automation. The solution is systemic -- a redistribution of wealth. But the propaganda machines have successfully convinced people that this is bad.
There are entire factories today that run in the dark, because there are no people there.

No. They did not fire *most* of staff. They let go 10% of the *contract* workers. The 600 regular employees were not affected.
You might want to specify want languages you are interested in. Different services seem to do different languages better or worse.
Duolingo is pretty much the king of *practice*, though lacking in other regards such as grammar and accompanying memes.

They probably detect the private tab and block you. On firefox, instead of private tabs, you can use containers. On chromium, you can use unique profiles (which you then periodically delete).
I was able to find a version on archive.org. I don't know if that will work any differently.

Checking my records, because I forget things.
I bought and installed a Microshift back in January. Only installed one side, because I tend to do things on a triage basis.
The microshift works well, but which way you shift is different from the other shifter (Shimano Tiagara). Also, it's about 10% smaller.
What I found is that I couldn't get the name-brand anymore that fit my style (brifter?). I guess that was a bike fad or something.

In the past I saved the parchment paper for re-use. I also re-use aluminum foil.
I don't actually have a whole lot of use for wax paper these days. If I have cut fruits or vegetables I want to keep protected in the fridge, paper towel works as well as anything.

Glyphosphate isn't an insecticide. I've never heard of any study that suggests it does anything to bees (shown in image) or any other insect.
It kills broad-leaf plants and grasses.
It only kills the plants it comes directly into contact with -- it doesn't permeate the soil and affect other plants.
