yeah, i’m debating if this is a trade off i’m willing to make. it takes away any worry that my family wouldn’t be able to access the stack if something happens to me, which is nice. no seed words is probably something we are going to see more of from manufacturers. bitkey is 256, phone is 256, server is 512. it’s not a bad option if it fits your bitcoin philosophy. thanks for sharing mike! 🫡

it’s been 6 days and i’m starting to finally laugh again. not about that topic, i can’t joke or meme it. it’s too close to home and the panic i felt and the stories i heard from friends and it was something i’ll never see humor in. i’ve been extremely sad, very angry, personally hurt and let down.
but i’ve finally found things i can laugh at again, and that tells me that we’re gonna be okay, bitcoin is gonna be okay.
i’m so so grateful for you all and so proud of our community and our ability to care and support each other no matter how good or how bad it gets.

i have always advocated for self-custody of your bitcoin, and i’ll continue to do so, but i think going forward a good strategy is one that’s built on maximum protection and damage control, therefore i believe that a mixture of accounts is likely the best solution.
~85% in 2-of-3 multi-vendor multi-sig deep cold storage.
~10% in an exchange (i.e. river, strike, or fold)
~5% in a hot wallet + lightning
i’ve given this a lot of thought, and these are the trade-offs that i’m willing to make. if any of you are still trying to figure out your strategy, i hope this helps in what you decide to do. 🫂

fwiw river locks incoming bitcoin for a holding period. you can also enable force field which you can set withdrawl limits.
doesnt seem like a bad idea till you figure out a new self custody strategy.
