Another person and I went out and set a dozen traps. Six we had six cats trapped before I left and I managed with a little bit of help to catch these four tiny kittens by hand.

Take a baking sheet and flip it over. That's your pizza steel for this thin crust pizza. 425 for 8-12 minutes. And I definitely recommend a sprinkle of corn meal or semolina between the baking sheet and the pizza.
You may want to turn on the boiler for the last few minutes.
Cost per person before toppings is $1.60. And you'd be really pressed to put another dollar worth of toppings on a pizza this size.

Reagan came with other cats named after presidents. She was too mean to be adopted by anyone so she lives here but is not officially our cat. She belongs to a rescue.
Reagan decided to join us inside today. That's a rare event other than the morning feeding. She was overdue for some flea meds. That long fur is not a good match in this South Carolina humidity or for fleas. But she is spicy so that takes some work We blocked off the cat door, closed other doors and gave her limited places to be.
She hid under a dresser and I was able to pull her out and give her some flea meds. This is the first time I have touched her in months and months. It went better than expected. Only the tiniest amount of blood.
What is surprising to me. Is that she's still in the house. I thought she would have ran out the moment we opened that cat door.

This one has served as well and the lid fits tight. But it is the backup bin. We have a much larger food bin that is the default. 12 cats go through a lot of food. And sometimes we get a lot of donations at once. In fact, this week I think we picked up close to 200 pounds.
If someone in one of the local Facebook groups posts that they need cat food we have a bag for them.

I had dough I needed to do something with. Wife said "make bread and put stuff on it.". That sounded more interesting than French toast.
So here we are.
Top left going clockwise.
Butter & orange marmalade.
Bread grilled in butter topped with pak fried smoked mozzarella.
Butter & cinnamon and sugar.
Butter & cheddar.
Butter & peanut butter, raspberry preserves.
Butter under smoked mozzarella, orange marmalade, raspberry preserves.
Butter grilled bread, smoke mozzarella & smoke sardines, broiled.
Bread and meltish cheddar.
Cost per person? I have no idea. Homemade bread was about $1.25, 80¢ of butter, $3 sardines, 75¢ smoked mozzarella. The rest is rounding errors.
This is basically high food but I don't get high.

Sauce made with a can of tomato sauce, granulated garlic, home grown dried basil and oregano, star anise, s&p, red pepper flakes olive oil.
Chicken meatballs were free and worth exactly that much.
Smoked mozzarella from last year's smoke cheese batch.

Today she reached the point where I was okay with giving her some free range time in the house. She did very well and didn't try to dodge me too much when I went to collect her. More importantly she adventured the whole time instead of hiding.

Lucy won't come to you for attention. But you can always pick her up and make her purr.
Lucy's mom has a bob tail. Her sisters Charlie and Tasselhoff have bobtails. But Lucy is the odd one in the family with a full length tail. It doesn't seem to cause her any problems.

I had one piece of steak, an aging bell pepper, aging mushrooms, half an onion, processed American cheese slices, flour, lard, salt and baking powder, two potatoes and some peanut oil.
The solution seemed clear. Offend my Pennsylvania wife with something that wasn't a Philly Cheese Steak.
The steak was free.
Cost per person: $2.10.
If I had to pay for the steam it would be closer to $5.50

Our local meat store, can't honestly call it a butcher, recently started carrying flank steak and skirt steak. Angus flank and skirt steak. For 7.69 a pound.
The perfect cuts for making San Diego carne asada style burritos. I've seen many a carne asada burrito on menues outside of San Diego. They have absolutely zero resemblance to what I recognize as a carne asada burrito. The real deal has citrus marinated beef, guacamole, pico de gallo salsa. That's it. No rice. No beans. No cheese. No creama. No corn. Three items in a tortilla. But if you add French fries you can call it a California burrito. But that's a different subject.
Cost wise this is complicated emotionally. This burrito is slightly smaller than the real deal. Current price of the real deal from Roberto's on El Cajon Blvd is $11.25. This homemade version was $9. Once you adjust for size they are pretty much the same price. I've always known that I couldn't make them as cheap as j could buy them. Today was just proof.

I grew up in San Diego. Most definitely not Mexican food that people in Texas would recognize as Texmex but, according to many, would fit your description. The key difference between Texas and San Diego Mexican food is that Texas uses corn and San Diego avoids it except for corn tortillas.

If you aren’t familiar with this project here are the basics:
I remove Heathcliff from each day’s Heathcliff comic. In most cases this preserves their absurdist, dada, anti-joke vibe because his presence is frequently irrelevant to the joke even though he is the titular character.
Every day except Sunday. On those days I add him to something he wasn’t in.
This isn’t Garfield Minus Garfield. Those edits become introspective instead of more or the same level of surreal. Those were done selectively versus this project being daily. The edits I do are to show that Heathcliff is often irrelevant to the joke/anti-joke absurdism that is modern Heathcliff. I will also be posting edits by others on the Heathcliff editor community that aren’t on Lemmy.
