Last Notes npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…mrtd habe erst Speakon erlebt - habe noch nie mit gross genugem Geschütz zu tun gehabt fur Powercon - aber Lautsprecher am Kabel ziehen ist schon so ein "wir sind eh schon zu spät dran mit Abräumen" ding <_< Viel Spass und Glück dann jedenfalls. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…mrtd der Nachteil von "der Stecker fliegt sicher nicht raus": "das Kabel kommt aus dem Stecker" <_< npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger The crazy thing is the performance difference I'm getting here. I converted a silly node js script to rust. What took the JS script like 10 hours (probably because BigInt and strings are slow and I didn't really care to optimize the JS either, apart from making sure it used constant RAM) takes the rust version a couple of minutes. I'm sure if I really tried I could get the js version an order of magnitude closer, but I think some of it is just inherent to JS and how it works. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger I won't tell you how deeply nested my matches are though <_< (yes, I know that matches are expressions and I can return a value from them. Doesn't mean I have to do that.) npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger Uh oh, I made my first "productive" rust project that works and all that. Before this I've always only started rust things and never quite finished them. This is done. Thanks to like 15 crates (plus their dependencies) it's just 180 lines of rust, too. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…mrtd (und auf dem dashboard dann https://github.com/neuhausf/lovelace-swiss-stationboard weil das genau so zeug kann ;) ) npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…mrtd renderst du das extern oder alles mit esphome zusammengebaut? npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger I don't think I've often looked into the courtyard this time of day and counted this many fellow nerds with lights on sat at their comptuers... npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…r8qq I think I've used subgrid about every other time I've used grid. It can simplify layouts so much - especially since you can add and remove subgridding for breakpoints, for example. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger I somehow forgot about Project Hail Mary until the movie suddenly appeared, even though it was big on my reading list after the Martian. But having read the Martian I can tell where Andy Weir is going to spend chapters describing stuff that is just minutes in the movie. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…4gmv https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angels_%26_Demons_(film) npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger Wait, I've seen this movie. https://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/various/antimatter-particles-are-transported-in-geneva-for-the-first-time-worldwide/91149348 npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…ka4g don't worry, nobody expected you to dodge. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger Verpfeilt npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger Bei der bls ruft jetzt auch immer die Leitstelle noch im Zug an bei einer Störung. Bisher habe ich immer nur erlebt, dass sie die Infos, welche die Lokführerin oder der Lokführer schon durchgesagt hat, vager wiederholt... npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…ml9f @nprofile…wd3e you made me look up what my local imax charges. Normal cinema is 20.- (~25USD). IMAX is 30.- (38USD). All things considered it seems IMAX isn't that much of an upcharge. Though our cinemas here are still struggling pretty hard. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…q9cx I guess I just found my weekend project... npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger This is how the planning at a big construction site here is going... npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger ICE neben ICE in Bern 😱 npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger I've finally managed to wrangle the Swiss voting results open data. There's much more I want to do with it, but most of it will need yet more separate data that's even more painful to work with :/ npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…35cw also das = elektrisch fahren, nicht das = diesel 4x4? npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…wd3e yeah, I pick and choose what I watch of jet lag - and I've never been into the whole thing enough to listen to the companion podcast (or watch 15 minute long bird videos for that matter). I think you're legally not allowed to call something a podcast if it doesn't have an RSS feed :P npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…wd3e thanks for the tip though! Layover isn't one of my subs. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…wd3e now they just need to fix their CDN so it doesn't buffer every few minutes because it runs into network errors >:( npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…wd3e I got a "close the window, it's too warm outside" alert from my automation today! The sun was strong here. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger By the way, I've open sourced the training data I've used for eslint to do automated code reviews for me. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger Why are "AI code reviews" stupid? npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…ml9f it seems most of the public broadcasters around here have the listings of their streams up on their websites and only error when you actually try to play it, if you want to window shop a little ;) npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…ml9f it's crazy to me how we just get all the streams as part of the public broadcaster here and some other places have a shittier version behind a paywall (oh wait, I pay for the public broadcaster too. But I think that's fine actually). But uh, maybe a VPN is the better investment then? 🤔 (Not sure what for example the beeb does since you'd want decent english broadcasts) npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger Oh wait, maybe they will use that at least as a factor? npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger See, what confuses me about the discord age verification thing is that they have plenty of users with linked steam accounts (or xbox live or battlenet). Steam accounts that have existed for more than 13 years. Thus the user must be older than that. And they already have that data. Why bother with friction? npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger So this is why you bring a power bank with a screen that shows you the output voltage and amps on trips. Now I know for sure that something is weird with the primary charging port. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…xtyc nul points npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger Had to turn EDGE (2G) back on as I leave Switzerland. What a weird little bubble we have. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger Quotes rendering in Tusky <3 npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…0ep5 minibar! Cafe. Tee. Sandwich. Minibar! npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger It's finally come to bite me that I put my printer, probably one of the worst WiFi devices on the planet, in the furthest corner where it can only be reached by WiFi and barely at that. I've had to retry a print three times now because it's too big and apparently there's a Tx re-transmit rate of >50%... I guess I'm ordering cables and getting a retired switch a new job. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…ml9f man, I just remembered that for a while I'd tether my phone and use wifi from the phone via usb tethering because that was the most reliable somehow. Things sure got way smoother since the first year of the Linux desktop. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…ml9f I still remember when getting WiFi to work on Linux was even worse than on windows (though I often ended up burning a CD or copying windows drivers to a thumb drive on a library PC or similar after some catastrophic thing happened to my windows install). Then intel made wifi chipsets and it all became fine? That's roughly how I remember it... (Broadcom still has a tainted name for me) npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…ka4g ay(e) npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger Finally took the third drive that failed out of the NAS - it's just been sitting in there without being part of any volume any more for a while now. Next I guess I'll have to figure out where to shredder hard drives? npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger I love the absurdity of the tax office sending me a document with information I'll have to submit in my next tax report. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger Looking at my notifications on Mastodon I have done way too much posting of apparently relevant and interesting stuff recently. I'll give my best to post boring random things again for the rest of the year. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger Saying that the info that your studio isn't crunching yet is insight into the development stage of your video game doesn't make it look like you want to avoid crunch. Just saying, rockstar. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger Als Vorsichtsmassnahme schon mal die Ricola bereitstellen. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…fz27 I don't like using middleclick for something else, like grabbing a canvas and moving it and every time it also pastes whatever's in my clipboard for example. Essentially it annoys me more often than it feels useful - I personally don't mind ctrl + v much, since I do have two hands and one can stay on the keyboard. I do see the usefulness of having paste on mouse buttons, but I think that should be a user opt-in, so they're aware of it. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger Yes please, I've always manually disabled this wherever I could. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…5g2a data exchange sure is always a fun problem. Hope it's not too painful and mostly an exercise in moving gpx tracks between places. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…5g2a there is of course fun stuff like https://wanderer.to/ that can be wherever you want it to be. But I doubt you want to bother with trying to host something. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger I've just realized that the reasons we sucked at preventing COVID-19 from spreading are very much related to the reasons we suck at preventing climate change from accelerating. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger It's been a while since I've mentioned it, but it gets funkier. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…z754 hm, I don't think I noticed. Was it in the prize task from Mazie or where did that fit in? npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger Sure, paper clips are fine zipper pull replacements. But since I have a machine that can make things exist, these look like a pretty neat solution (compared to other stuff I've seen and tried so far): https://www.printables.com/model/1467327-robust-zipper-pull-replacement-ratchet npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…l5ns after enjoying wayland for a while on Fedora already that wayland sure sounds tasty. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…atxf ah, darum der wechsel vom filesystem. Hatte mich gefragt wozu das ist. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…atxf kurz in die mikrowelle und gut ist? npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger Nochmal 2 Jahre mehr?! https://www.bern.ch/mediencenter/medienmitteilungen/aktuell_ptk/zukunft-bahnhof-bern-ausbau-laeuft-in-vielen-bereichen-gut-komplexitaet-fuehrt-jedoch-zu-verzoegerungen npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…vnqu wer erwartet schon, dass es im Cage 2 Minuten lang kein Strom haben könnte D: npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…fgy5 I know of https://github.com/derdilla/blood-pressure-monitor-fl and I think gadgetbridge is also starting to move that way. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger By the way, it's surprisingly easy to forbid for..in with eslint in a nice way without requiring a special rule from a plugin: https://github.com/freaktechnik/eslint-configs/blob/a9062faf565041d914e84a65aaedae5a554f744a/packages/eslint-config-base/index.js#L306-L312 npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…fgy5 lots of health devices like blood pressure monitors, scales etc. (but also ones where it's debatable if they even should have software like toothbrushes etc.) npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger Alles open science aber Angst vor Spionage an der Hochschule? npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger Postfinance hat Twint gemacht. Twint ist unabhängiger geworden etc. Postfinance macht Postfinance Pay weil Twint nicht genug rendiert und plötzlich andere Zahlungsanbieter ihnen Ecommerce Kunden klauen?? npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger Oh no, translation engines are starting to support Swiss German, leading to corporate people and spammers thinking we expect formal communication to be written in Swiss German. No thank you! npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger The warm water supply has been struggling in the building all day long. It must be really cold outside. *looks outside* Oh, snow! npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger If you insist... npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…lrft @nprofile…3sz2 hi, only just randomly came accross this, I have one or also a few blank ones (plus some pin headers at the right pitch etc.) if interest is still there. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger In blau: das berner Stadtbachtal‽ (wegen verschiedenen Bauwerken etwas verschoben...) npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…dfpj I'm interested to see how well FEX (https://github.com/FEX-Emu/FEX) is actually going to work. But hey, if it means we get to do fun ARM stuff in linux consumer desktop world more often that's neat. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger One day Valve will actually sell me hardware. It appears we're still not there yet. (Not shipping to my region) npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger Universal basic income is a dividend? npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger Saw an ad for a service where ML "improves" your CV. Reminded me that I'm the weirdo writing without LLM assistance, just like the weirdos that insisted on writing by hand when I was in school. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger What's so funny about peace, love and understanding npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…2252 there you go: https://code.forgejo.org/forgejo/runner/issues/1111 npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger Hach ja, Newsletter Tools. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger I've been updating all (well, most, some of them talk with 3rd party services) my extensions with npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…2252 ah, found it! Turns out it was an if condition that wasn't evaluating correctly. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…2252 sadly the repo is private, but this is the action result: npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…2252 I am. Does that mean I should use the actions/upload-artifact and no longer the forgejo fork? The integration test repo setup still uses the forgejo one, so that's why I used that. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger Also, how do you provide credentials for a uses that points to github or a protected repo? npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger I've been playing with #forgejo actions all day. A lot of the basics are barely documented or don't exist yet I guess. Plus it's really hard to search for other people doing the same thing. I also haven't managed to get the artifact actions to ever work. Nothing in the logs of the runner, and a negative runtime reported with just a failure and no details in the forgejo UI :/ npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger @nprofile…z754 ah yeah, the anti scraping cpu cycle wasting I had to deploy because scrapers would just hammer each and every little commit I have on my instance (it's actually https://github.com/TecharoHQ/anubis) npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger Thanks @nprofile…z754 for asking some questions about it, leading me to the conclusion I already believe in for software code: there's probably no reason to keep it to myself npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger I've decided to publish my little niche anti-AI action you probably didn't even know I did: npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger By the way, getting Blurays is so much simpler thanks to the language/region specific skews only being about the packaging. The actual contents of the discs often seem to be identical. I guess Blurays usually have enough space for all the audio/sub tracks (and localization logic for menus because the text isn't baked into video), so why bother with different disc contents? npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger I forgot Tron Legacy taught us that it's okay if your girlfriend was a program. (Actually, I tend to forget about most of the story of that movie, but it's worth it for the soundtrack and the visuals every now and then. Which is to say, the 4K Bluray rerelease is good) npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger So how many grafana dashboards should I have? I'm at 16 and thinking there's still something missing. npub1a9tl6trsccfsaeyx9rge65truduts23yllmfvh9qw4vxwhcuk3es75j9xw Martin Giger https://song.link/s/3yLfUywz7buat1thZFAWDI is really good.
