Last Notes npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…valu First one has Cillian Murphy. Second one has Idris Elba. Third one has Ralph Fiennes. That's how I keep them apart, lol. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron Did anyone else dislike 28 Years Later as much as I did? I love the first two movies, but the third one did not seem to occupy the same universe. And bookending it on a sequel hook instead of just telling a self-contained story really rubbed me the wrong way. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron Every single Marvel wiki article reads like this: "This event, which was later undone by time travel, profoundly affected the lives of these characters, who were later revealed to be clones, and spawned the creation of a new spinoff, that was later revealed to be a dream. The character's new son, who was later revealed to be an alien in a mask, first introduced us to Planet Y, which was later revealed to be a future version of Earth, then died, which was later revealed to be from gout." npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron Idea: Reboot Home Improvement as a show about Jill Taylor trying to reconcile her stodgy Trumper husband Tim and their adult, married, antifa son Randy. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron It's actually incredible how much of Pete Hegseth's schtick has been done before by Major Frank Burns. #uspol https://cdn.masto.host/ingenthronsocial/media_attachments/files/115/857/690/511/841/461/original/a263d9e8e3920803.mp4 npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron I just released v1.0 of my #Unredacter software. An AI replying "good observation" can be a poor substitute for an absent father. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron I have further expanded the https://www.maga-collaborators.net website. Who the hell thought that was a good idea?!? npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…cl5w @nprofile…hn6t Yup, I've always driven American my whole life. AI is the factory-made frozen lasagna in the plastic tray. It's fine sometimes, but when you really want a proper lasagna, you go to an Italian restaurant or you make it yourself. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…9wrc Yeah, but I do still see it as sort of a "sorry we're so shitty elsewhere" apology tour. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…9wrc Isn't that pretty much what USAID was for? npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…hpxz I wouldn't say it makes me feel clean (although it doesn't make me feel less clean either). I'd describe it as "refreshed". For reference: Rain: not cleaning, but refreshing Shower: cleaning and refreshing Sponge bath: cleaning, but not refreshing npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…hpxz Yeah, the former. Sometimes when I'm home and it rains, I'll just go outside and stand in it for a while for fun. Usually not to the point of being soaked, and I change clothes as soon as I get back inside, but it feels nice. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…hpxz @nprofile…0d5n I mean, I grew up in a Republican household. I voted for both parties through to the Obama era while donating to libertarian policy groups. I only finally registered as a Dem on January 7th 2021. So, I definitely see what you're talking about, in general. I just see the dems as being only like 20-30% as radicalized as their opposition, and their radicalization is mostly oppositional. Remove the dictator and give him proper due process and dems will de-radicalize naturally. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…hpxz Ah, then you and I have very different responses to rain. For me, it's rejuvenating even when it's whipping and cold. But especially the idea of a gentle warm front blowing in and raining after a long dusty day working in the hot sun is exactly the same feeling I associate with showering after getting grimy in other ways. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…hpxz Evolutionary response to life-giving rain, perhaps? npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…hpxz @nprofile…0d5n I agree with most of that. We're all a product of our history and experiences. Most of Europe would describe your definition of "moderate" to be "conservative", while in Texas, you'd be a commie, so it's all about frame of context. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…hpxz So in other words "moderate" is what everyone thinks of themselves and nobody else. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…hpxz Most of what you're describing happened before half the electorate graduated from high school, so I kind of doubt it was a major factor. But, yeah, I think a lot of the reason why he was considered a moderate was because he had mostly extremely mainline liberal views but "moderated" them with a few extreme right-wing views. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…hpxz I never said people didn't think he was bad, I said they thought he was a moderate. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…hpxz As long as we have a pro-dictatorship party and an anti-dictatorship party, the choice for every American should be clear. You don't have to marry the Democrats for life, but describing them as "radical" in this moment for primarily opposing the very authoritarianism you recognize to be a threat seems to be extremely counter-productive. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…hpxz You are literally the only person I know who thinks Biden wasn't a moderate. But also, he wasn't the party's latest nominee, nor does he seem to have any part in the party's current anti-authoritarian platform. He just pardoned his family and noped his way outta the whole situation. So, judging the Democratic Party in 2025 based on Biden's policies in the '70s and a tiny minority of rioters 5 years ago hardly seems prudent. You're conflating the majority with vocal minorities. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…hpxz Yeah, I don't agree with that assessment. The Dem party certainly has some radical elements, but describing their core party platform or the majority of their members as radical does not seem to be supported by reality. The Republican platform is currently "let's dismantle the government and constitution in the name of efficiency for our god-king" and the Democrat platform is an incredibly meek "no, please stop, maybe, sir?". npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…hpxz You should read the above thread again. I never once mentioned radical or extremist policies in the initial posts (I only mentioned it later in direct rebuttals to your claims). You completely read that into my argument all on your own. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…hpxz > its about not being an extreme polarized radical person, but rather a moderate person who considers the nuance of a situation It's not about either of those things. It's about consistency and integrity and actually following the principles you claimed to champion when you ran for the office you now hold. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…hpxz If that conclusion were true, it would be a lot easier for NPA candidates to achieve federal office. When someone signs their candidacy form with a party next to their name, they're signing on to the party's platform, and voters should be able to expect them to adhere to that. Now, I'm not decrying legitimate breaks for matters of one's conscience. What I'm pissed off about is shitty politicians in swing districts betraying their own to avoid offending the moderates on the other side. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…hpxz Sure, of course, some voters expect that. But it's pretty fair to assume that the vast majority of people who vote for Democrats want them to vote with Democrats to enact Democrat policies, and likewise for Republican voters. And especially when the majority is in the right, voting against it is a defiance of the mandate of the people that put them in office. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron I will never understand why some Democrat elected politicians think that Democrat voters elected them to vote against the Democrats. "The GOP are winning elections across the country by actually opposing their opponents? Let's do the exact opposite of that winning strategy for no apparent reason!" #uspol npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron I was very much opposed to the "doomer" talk. But seeing that Democrats won't even fight for our country has shattered what little hope I had for a recovery without war. Every ounce of our democracy is now hanging by a thread that is the federal court system. Protect yourself. It's coming. #uspol npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron Just experienced my first real-life engine failure in #GeneralAviation! Luckily, as pilots always say: "checklists save lives", which is why we were able to detect and identify the issue *before* take off. During run-up, when I tested the first magneto, the RPMs immediately dropped 200 and then kept falling until the engine started choking. I turned it back on before it died completely. We tried again to reproduce the result and then called ground control for a return to the ramp. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…j2mx Uh, yeah, so are the rest of us 😄 npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…9wrc I can't even get my liberal friends to agree to that. The problem with the American Dream is that everyone wants to deregulate billionaires because everyone expects to become one. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…hpxz Dunno, how about you ask all the Nazis who got excited after yesterday? https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/elon-musk-salute-reaction-right-wing-extremists-1235241866/ npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…hpxz If you look at the individual politicians and what they supported, then you'll see that Trump was the one to threaten a TikTok ban in the first place back when he was president in 2020. It was only when he was out of office and democrats agreed with the ban and it stopped being a partisan culture war issue that he flip-flopped to opposing it. That's not so different from Biden signing it and then choosing not to enforce it. Nobody has their hands clean on this one. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…hpxz Biden said the same thing as Trump: that he wouldn't enforce it (for the one day of his administration it applied to). TikTok just dngaf what he said because he was on his way out. Both parties, and their leaders, demanded this ban. Now both parties are acting like the dog that caught the car it was chasing... npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron Redid my website for potential new clients. Open to both criticism and referrals! https://www.ingenthron.us npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…hpxz That kind of thinking strikes me as overly-conspiratorial and direly lacking in evidence. It's certainly possible, but I think Occam would take issue with it. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…hpxz If they had so much influence, why wouldn't they just prevent the aid packages from the beginning so they wouldn't have to throw their entire army through the meat grinder in Ukraine for over a year? I certainly think Russia is trying to influence our political sphere, but much like everything else Russia does, it's only about 10% Machiavellian and the other 90% is buffoonery. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…hpxz They lifted those restrictions a couple weeks ago, interestingly. Ukraine has now launched US missiles against Russian targets. And, yeah, I disagree with that initial restriction too, but I see the logic: trying to do just enough to stop Russia without getting NATO dragged into a full-on land war. It's a difficult balancing act. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…hpxz Maybe so, but it seems a bit far-fetched to me, especially what with their pushing so much funding to Ukraine as well. If the Democrats have been bought by anyone, current evidence would seem to point to Israel, for whom they've shown far more deference. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…hpxz Wait, if he's "controlling" the democrats, then why did the Democrats sanction so many of his oligarchs and take their shit? npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @nprofile…j2mx Sorry to hear you're not feeling well. But can't you use an authenticator app? How is that doxxing? npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @npub1fcj…esja It'll keep happening while folks keep paying for their subscriptions. VOTE WITH YOUR WALLET. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron Wouldn't an incredibly simple way to automate anti-abuse be to automatically suspend any account that gets blocked by more than half the users it reaches out to? This would lighten the load for moderators and empower users. And the requirement for the suspicious account to make first contact for the block to count prevents the rule from being easily abused. #Mastodon #Fediverse #Moderation npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @npub1lse…5d80 I think there's also a pretty large contingent of people who will just take the money and not vote at all. Since the only condition of getting the money is being registered to vote, you could even call it a registration drive. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @npub1lse…5d80 Yeah, I don't think anyone will feel obligated to any more reciprocity to Elon than they would if their bank errored $100 in their favor. Are there some people in our society who would feel the need to reciprocate / give back the money? Sure. But most of them probably wouldn't take Elon's offer in the first place. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @npub10r4…dv23 @npub1lse…5d80 Yeah, but that article is for something else entirely, and it mentions that what's described in the OP is, in fact, legal. https://cdn.masto.host/ingenthronsocial/media_attachments/files/113/326/759/669/969/963/original/fe84d8ac85ba2303.png npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @npub1lse…5d80 Sounds to me like they're harvesting your contact info to send you biased election mail, which is all protected speech. It's not any different than if Planned Parenthood offered free T-shirts for joining their mailing list. If there was *anything* intimating a quid-pro-quo for the $100, I'd agree with you. But paying people directly for their contact info instead of buying it in a backroom from a shady advertiser actually strikes me as shockingly honest. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @npub1lse…5d80 I can't imagine how it would break the law. It's not so different than a sandwich shop harvesting and selling your data for every 12th sub free. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @npub1kpw…xzz4 Well, they don't strip. But otherwise, yeah, that's literally its entire appeal. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @npub1kpw…xzz4 ...which pales in comparison to the money spent keeping the current systems in place. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @npub1kpw…xzz4 Sounds like a great idea! Sadly, though, my movement's underfunded and none of the billionaires want to donate to it 🤔 npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @npub1kpw…xzz4 No, but you did use the free market as a defense against why obscene wealth isn't indicative of exploitation. npub1aaankn9zrfmvmcwmxfz205r4fap4fngwzxxglfctrfel50u3sc4qr6ra6c Louis Ingenthron @npub1kpw…xzz4 Then we do not, and will never have, a free market in this country. I've noticed that lots of folks who started out speaking Spanish speak very very quickly, often leaving no gap between words and blurring them together, no matter which language they're currently speaking. Is it a cultural thing (most Spanish speakers I know come from Central American hispanic families), or is it something to do with the mother tongue itself?
