It is our pleasure using the words of the minstrel from Duluth (Bob Dylan) to announce that in the next few weeks you'll be seeing some changes around the Tavern.
We are rebranding The Gamer's Tavern in...
**The Gamers' Tavern**.
No, we're not insane, it looks like just a tiny apostrophe change but it carries a heavy load on its shoulder. Read the post to discover what will happen next.
##
First, a bit of history
Allow me to talk personally here, as Alex, as the innkeeper and give you a tour of the last few years, telling you what happened. Of course if you're not interested and just want to know what will happen in the next weeks jump at the end of the post.
###
The first tavern
The Gamer's Tavern was born in September '22, a few months after I closed my italian gaming e-zine (Voodoo Digitale). The reason for closing Voodoo Digitale was simple: I always felt something was missing in that project and felt always out of place in it, up to a point where it wasn't fun anymore.
My thoughts at the time were simple: I will enjoy playing games and live streaming, no more commitment to anything or anyone.
So The Gamer's Tavern was created with no intent from me to be a full time streamer or make money out of it, just having fun. And boy, did I have it!
Have the fist logo as a treat in case you weren't around by that time
[](https://ibb.co/Jw7QwM5M )
(Yeah, it was bad. I know, I know, my bad!)
###
The second tavern and the fediverse
I was young (?!?) and naive, so of course the first tavern interacted mainly on Twitter, Facebook (did I say that I was young and naive already?) and Instagram (same here!), streaming on Twitch and YouTube (yeah you got the gist of it ;) ).
Somehow, even though I had fun playing and streaming, with the people who gathered around the channel I could never feel a deep connection. I wasn't just only one in a million (as you may have understood, I was fine with the concept) but it seemed so **shallow** that sometimes it hurt.
I was about to throw the towel again when I first heard about the fediverse. I created my first account in [dragonscave.space](https://dragonscave.space/ ) and started using Mastodon. I was simply **flabbergasted** by the amount of deep interaction that I had in so little time and decided to make it the main home of the tavern.
I moved around different Mastodon instances and tried out different services, but nothing changed: **the people who gathered around the channel were the best I've ever (digitally) met**!
I don't believe there was a precise moment in time when I (and the actual staff, who first were Twitch moderators) decided to go full “eff it, we're going to host a fediverse service, for all the great folks out there”. And then another. And then another and so forth. It maybe was just about giving back what I received as the main “face” of the channel or something completely different, that I couldn't grasp at the time.
And when I talk about being the face of the channel, is because I literally had my face on it. Have our second logo iteration as another treat for reading!
###
The third tavern and the realization
Years passed and what I couldn't grasp before was clear. It wasn't about having fun and being a streamer. It was all about having meaning and great interactions with the people. Having fun playing videogames and making them laugh was just the cherry on top of those interactions.
**It never was about me.**
**It was about others.**
It was just being there when they needed, laughing together, being sad together, going for a chat, playing a game or just you know, being silly together.
And that's exactly when I stopped live streaming. I talked about this with the staff and we decided to focus everything on the community. We expanded our services, we offered a safe and cosy place for everyone, we wanted the tavern to be a place where you could just drop a “Good morning” (or “Good ATotD” as we often say – *Appropriate Time of the Day*), mourn the loss of a relative or a pet, share a new job position, a new life born into this world. Happy moments, sad moments. And with no need to be connected 24/7. Exactly like a tavern, where you could walk in, talk with the other patrons while drinking a beer and then you could leave, with the thought of coming back sooner or later for another round and another chat.
##
Future plans
I believe I already bored you all out of your mind, so I'm going to cut short into what the future will holds for the tavern.
The Gamer's Tavern will undergo in the next few weeks under a rebranding, with a new logo (courtesy of [Goldstarknight](https://goldstarknight.carrd.co/ ), give him a holla on [Mastodon](https://mastodon.art/@Goldstarknight )) and a new name: **The Gamers' Tavern** to symbolize that it isn't built around a persona anymore but around the community and for the community.
The new logo won't picture my face anymore (mostly because my beard is getting grayer by the day, but don't tell others – just kidding of course) to carry on our message, that will be enhanced and boosted by the name change too:
**IT'S ALL ABOUT THE PEOPLE IN THE TAVERN**
Effective immediately, I will also drop the [Innkeeper](https://gamerstavern.online/@innkeeper ) Mastodon account and will use [Alex](https://gamerstavern.online/@alex ) from now on, leveling with the other great members of the staff:
<li><a href="https://gamerstavern.online/@jamie" rel="nofollow">UndeadJamie</a></li>
<li><a href="https://gamerstavern.online/@brakeougaming" rel="nofollow">BrakeOut Gaming</a></li>
<li><a href="https://gamerstavern.online/@harrybo" rel="nofollow">HarryBo</a></li>
Other Innkeeper's accounts on other services will be ceased in the near future and substituted with my personal accounts, because I will keep being part of the staff of The Gamers' Tavern (and maybe who knows, start streaming again) :)
A new general staff account will be created in every service we host to better allow people in need to contact us.
But it's not over. Other news will follow in the next few weeks, so... pass by for a round whenever you want and listen to the latest updates ;)
The Gamer's Tavern is a cozy place where you can rest and have fun with others gamers. This community main goal is to provide everyone a **cozy and safe** place to keep in touch and play together.

#2025 #September #MonthlyReport
The Gamer's Tavern is a cozy place where you can rest and have fun with others gamers. This community main goal is to provide everyone a **cozy and safe** place to keep in touch and play together.

2025-09-06 13:42:35 GMT

The Gamer's Tavern chose a full Fediverse approach and all the donations will be used to maintain servers and get better hardware.
Oh, and let's not forget about fueling the staff with more coffee, so why don't you buy them a [Ko-Fi](https://ko-fi.com/the_gamers_tavern ) or toss a coin to your admins through [LiberaPay](https://liberapay.com/thegamerstavern/ )?

You can join The Gamer’s Tavern's community and be in contact with other amazing gamers using the following tools:
<li>Discord</li>
<li>Matrix</li>
<li>IRC</li>
that we are mirroring.
Whoa, wait a moment, what does it mean they are mirrored? It means a message sent on one platform will appear on the others, and vice versa!!
**The future! We're living in the future!!!**

The Gamer's Tavern is a cozy community talking mainly about gaming but not disdaining other topics, fully committed to the Fediverse and run by an amazing staff (see [Staff](https://blog.gamerstavern.online/innkeeper/the-staff )).
The main goal of the community is providing gamers a cozy and **safe** home to play together.
The Gamer's Tavern won't ever feed you ads or sell your data, we are against all those BSs and that's why we are active only on Fediverse social medias (Mastodon, Pixelfed, Lemmy, Peertube, Owncast, etc. see the complete list [here](https://linktr.ee/thegamerstavern )).
**We just want to play together and have fun.**

#2025 #July #MonthlyReport

2025-06-15 12:06:56 GMT

We decided to host a new free service (surprise surprise!) and this time is [Mobilizon](https://mobilizon.org/ )
We decided to give all you gamers, streamers, content creators, etc. a brand new federated place where you'll be able to put your event/calendar, may it be about live streaming, publishing videos/podcast/audiobooks/books/whatever on your channel or just looking for some players for a cozy night. It's a calendar, it's a LFG tool, it's a plane – no wait, scratch this one – and it's yours and as always it's free of charge :)
You'll find the new service [here](https://events.gamerstavern.online/ )
Seeing how much we expanded our self hosted catalog, we feel it's about time to publish a FAQ page on our blog and we will in the next few weeks. In the meantime, feel free to reach our staff and ask directly on Mastodon/Discord/Matrix/IRC/Lemmy

We wanted to take a moment to talk about the kind of space we’re building here at The Gamer's Tavern. Our goal has always been to foster a cozy, welcoming, and inclusive community—one where everyone can enjoy thoughtful discussions, gaming camaraderie, bad puns, and good vibes.
We know these are trying times. With everything happening in the world — *politically, socially, and beyond* — it’s easy to feel on edge.
**Despite all the negativity, we want to make sure that The Gamer's Tavern remains a space where people can find some relief from all that. This is our place to come together and support one another, away from any stress and hostility in the outside world.**
Lately, we’ve noticed an uptick in tense conversations and escalating conflicts. While disagreements are natural, we want to make sure they don’t turn into something that makes the Tavern feel less welcoming. If a discussion starts getting heated, we encourage everyone to take a step back, de-escalate, and, if needed, loop in a mod rather than letting things spiral.
Likewise, if you see something concerning on the Fediverse, please reach out directly to a mod for help. Keeping things constructive helps maintain the atmosphere we all love.
At the end of the day, we’re a small server, and we want to keep this a place where folks feel good hanging out. If you ever have questions or concerns, our mod team is always here to chat.
Thanks to everyone who helps make The Gamer's Tavern a great place to be!

##
GENERAL
###
Respect towards others
It's fun to make fun of yourself when it's a game for both sides. Do not exaggerate or touch on sensitive topics that can easily offend the other person (religious, sexual orientation, etc.).
###
Respect the netiquette
Respect the sacred principles of netiquette as much as possible: find those [here](https://www.britannica.com/topic/netiquette )
###
Toxic behaviors
It makes no sense to be in The Gamer's Tavern with the sole purpose of insulting others and being toxic.
###
Aggressive behaviors
We want our community to be a welcoming and respectful space for everyone. To ensure that we ask you to express your opinions repectfully by:
<li><strong>avoiding</strong> instigating violence against individuals, groups, etc.;</li>
<li><strong>avoiding</strong> personal attacks, insults, or needlessly aggressive tones.</li>
##
ADDITIONAL RULES FOR MASTODON
###
Beware of sensitive topics
Use Content Warnings (CW) for sensitive topics as some topics can be difficult or triggering for others. Use a CW for subjects like:
<li>violence;</li>
<li>politics;</li>
<li>mental health;</li>
<li>tragedies</li>
or any other potentially sensitive discussions.
*When in doubt, adding a CW is a good way to show respect for others.*
##
ADDITIONAL RULES FOR PIXELFED
###

We ask you to avoid directly contacting other Tavern users **unsolicited** and sending said links.
#

never mind if it's on Mastodon, Pixelfed, Discord, etc., we have a **ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY** regarding contents:
