Did the Canadian federal government adopt quietly British spelling for its documents when the U.S. bullshit started?
Two thoughts:
1. I support it.
2. I love that there are people who (a) noticed, and (b) were so enamoured of the idea they literally wrote the PM.

I'm so thrilled to announce that #Edmonton is the first city to use the Tourism Infusion model started in Nanaimo!
"Visit Alberta" runs from July 3 to July 12 — and there will be a special meetup for healthcare workers interested in moving!
✅ ALL THE INFO: https://visitalberta.healthcareinfusion.org
p.s. Jocelyn and I are still working on the national Tourism Infusion handbook, so any community can replicate what Nanaimo did. And yes, it will be 100% free. Should be out in a couple of weeks! 🙂

Hey Trump... We got another one!
She is a psychiatric nurse practitioner from Arizona. She and her family are moving to #Nanaimo soon, and she'll be the Team Lead RN for the Nanaimo complex care housing team!
The whole Island community is making this happen — from Island Health recruiters, to the Ministry, to the nurses College, our local helpers in the Infusion Discord.
ALL YOUR NURSES ARE BELONG TO US.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

UPDATE: Yesterday, I posted about hey.cafe — a fully Canadian alternative to Facebook.
They got SWAMPED with people. More than doubled their user base in a few hours.
Doors are still open, but they're capping new accounts at 250 per hour. So if you get a "we're full right now" message, just try again in a couple of hours. 🙂

MERCH UPDATE: A few months ago, I shut down the merch store after learning some orders were being shipped from the U.S.
I promised I’d return with a fully Canadian, environmentally responsible option, and let you know when it was ready.
That time has come! 🙂
My merch store is back up at https://shop.todmaffin.com with Mirror Falls merch for now (but more coming soon; see below).

Holy crap is Telus scammy.

2. Internet cost went up $50 in ONE MONTH (!!) with no warning or notice.
3. TV cost went up $10 with no warning or notice.
I knew I made a mistake when I switched.

Nothing to do with drugs.
Nothing to do with security.
Just straight-up theft.

A forgotten story from Canada’s past that feels eerily familiar today.
In the late 1850s, a single act of courage in a small Ontario town changed a young boy’s life—and said everything about who we are as a country. No plaques. No statues. Just people doing what’s right when it matters.

I’m sitting in one of the day-surgery waiting rooms at Nanaimo hospital. Everyone here’s waiting for a family member. They’re cracking jokes, an older gentleman is playing 60s music on his phone, people are singing along, occasionally complaining about paying $1.25 for parking.

It is no longer safe for Canadians (or people of any nationality) to enter the United States.
Border guards are seizing phones, and going through your emails looking for messages saying you don’t like Trump.
They will turn you away, or send you to a “facility.”

In the small city of #Nanaimo Canada alone, grocery stores are forced to dump 500 kg of American produce PER DAY.
Why? Because Canadians aren’t buying ANYTHING American any more.
And probably for a very long time.
Well played, Trump.

“If you look at a map, they drew an artificial line right through it, between Canada and the U.S., just a straight artificial line. Somebody did it a long time ago, many many decades ago, and it makes no sense.”

It started with joking about it.
Today, the US President told his military to make plans to invade, by force, Panama.
He announced his plans to annex Greenland - in front of the NATO head.
He said the only way out for Canada was to become part of the U.S.
This is not a joke.
War is coming.

Honestly, these fucking Treasure Goblins! Okay I’m done. #Diablo4

@npub1gv8…uu0q I see. I understand you can’t disclose financial arrangements, but can you confirm whether or not Vivaldi rewrites links in any way? If I manually visit a product page or click a link to a product page to, say, Bing Shopping or Amazon, does Vivaldi insert itself in any way into the URL or clickstream?
Or is it more a simple matter of “they pay us $X for every X searches we send them”?

@npub1gv8…uu0q I feel like I should be bright enough to know this, but how does Vivaldi make money from search engines? Do they pay for you each search? Are you embedding affiliate codes in clicked links?

The entire city of #Yellowknife is being evacuated. This is unprecedented and terrifying.
And thousands of citizens aren’t aware because Meta continues to block news in the country.
This is what happens when citizens are convinced to use an American multinational corporation as their community’s primary communications channel — a corporation that couldn’t give two shits about anything except its “fiduciary duty” to shareholders.
People will die.
Meta will shrug.
