But users? how users decide which chain has value?

#SignalTrace represents a real convergence of stationary #cameras and #mobile device #tracking that creates what #privacy advocates call "people-based tracking" rather than just vehicle tracking. The technology can identify individuals even with obscured or changed license plates by using device fingerprints.
The difference between "police state" and "democratic society with surveillance tools" lies in:
1. Legal oversight (warrants, judicial review)
2. Data retention limits
3. Transparency about collection
4. Civil remedies for abuse

When hundreds of millions of #smartphones and interconnected #cameras create what's called a "hyper-localized surveillance grid," they're not just observing reality they're generating data rich versions of it that can be analyzed, manipulated, and weaponized.
what steps can we take to make our life more private.
if you ask me ... we need to ditch these smartphones to start with

UK government Device Scanning Plans: Framed as child protection this risks becoming #clientside scanning of #private content on millions of devices.
This is exactly why privacy-first, decentralized tools like SimpleX Chat (or similar end-to-end encrypted, no-metadata apps) matter more than ever.
They keep your conversations truly private, no central servers holding data, no easy backdoors, and resistance to mass scanning mandates.
Strong #encryption and user-controlled tech aren’t anti-safety are essential safeguards against overreach.
We can #protect #children without turning every #phone into a #surveillance #device

The Reality of #mauritius Local Banks: You cannot cash out massive amounts of #Bitcoin into local banks (like MCB or SBM) anonymously. To prove your funds are capital gains (0% tax) rather than commercial trading income (subject to 10-15% tax), you will need to provide an explicit, clean accounting trail of your original Bitcoin purchases.
💡
#UTXO Isolation: Before executing any off-ramp, ensure you do not compromise the privacy of your remaining self-custodied stack. Segment your wallet using distinct UTXOs. Only send the precise balance you intend to liquidate to an exchange or OTC desk, keeping your primary long-term cold storage completely unlinked from your Mauritian bank profile.
💡
Utilize International Crypto-Friendly Banks: Instead of moving fiat currency directly into a Mauritian bank account, consider using offshore multi-currency digital banks that plug into the local ecosystem via international wire transfer, keeping your immediate daily transactional footprint clear of local financial surveillance.

#mauritius #asknostr
⚠️ guys is anyone aware of mauritius operation chokepoint ?
#Mauritius is an island with highly #centralized subsea cable infrastructure
making infrastructure-level filtering, logging, and absolute blocks much easier for the state to enforce.
👇
1. The Proxy Architecture Threat (Breaking Encryption)The Mauritius Information and Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA) proposed a highly controversial architecture to combat social media abuse. How it works: The proposal involves installing a local state-run proxy server/decryptor at the island's internet #gateway.
The impact on you: Traffic from major apps is intercepted via a state-deployed root certificate, effectively conducting a tool-assisted Man-in-the-Middle (MitM) action on incoming/outgoing web data. While this is designed to target centralized platforms, a state operating this type of gateway infrastructure can easily flag, log, or drop packets communicating with known Nostr relay IP addresses or utilizing unrecognized cryptographic traffic patterns.
👇
2. Mandatory Local SIM Card RegistrationYou cannot access the local internet via cellular data without tying your physical body to your digital footprint.
Mauritius strictly enforces mandatory #biometric and identity registration for all SIM cards.Even if you use a secure client like #Damus or #FreeFrom over a cellular network, the data packets leaving your phone are explicitly tied to your passport or National ID card at the telecom level. The state knows who is transmitting encrypted data, even if they cannot easily read what is inside the event payload.
👇
3. Total Internet Kill SwitchesDecentralization relies on access to the global network. Mauritius has proven it will sever that access entirely if it feels threatened.During the late 2024 election cycle, the Prime Minister's office ordered a complete nationwide block on social media platforms following a wiretapping leak.Because Mauritius relies on a highly centralized telecom choke-point, the state can easily enforce a scorched-earth protocol: if they cannot police a specific network or relay, they can block the ports, blackhole the IP ranges, or disable internet access during periods of civil tension.
👇⚠️
4. Device Seizure and the Legal FrameworkIf you live in Mauritius, you fall under the jurisdiction of the local Cybercrime and Data Protection laws.If local authorities flag your IP address for high volumes of obscured traffic, local laws grant police broad powers to demand access to physical devices. While they can't change the Nostr protocol, they can physically compel you to hand over your device passcodes or face immediate imprisonment under local non-compliance statues.

People are out here celebrating "tax-free Bitcoin" in accounts like UK ISA or US IRA and pensions
they never owned it in the first place!!!!
You bought an ETN. A fancy IOU. A debt note issued by some bank that "promises" to track Bitcoin's price. The actual sats? Held by a third-party custodian in some cold wallet you will never control. No seed phrase. No private keys. No sovereignty.
Let's be brutally honest about what "ownership" actually means:
Bank account? Not yours. It's an unsecured liability of the bank. They lend it out 10x. Bail-in rules exist for a reason. Cyprus 2013, anyone?
Broker account / pension?
The shares aren't in YOUR name. Platform goes bust or gets hacked or "regulatory action" hits? Good luck in the queue with the other creditors.
ISA or IRA "Bitcoin"?
Same game, different wrapper. You own a claim on a claim on some custodian's claim. Three layers of "trust me bro."
Bitcoin was invented to END this circus.
"Not your keys, not your coins" represents the entire point
Satoshi didn't write the whitepaper so you could outsource your monetary freedom to the same system that prints money, freezes accounts, and confiscates wealth whenever it feels like it.
He gave us a tool for absolute property rights in the digital age, something no government, no bank, no "innovative finance product" can ever replicate.
Every time you put sats into an ISA, a broker, a "regulated platform", or any custodial solution, you are voluntarily handing back the keys to the very system Bitcoin was designed to replace.
You're paying a premium (in the form of counterparty risk) for the privilege of pretending you're "being responsible with taxes."
Taxes on what? On something the state can't even seize if you do it right.
Yes, capital gains outside the ISA suck in the UK for example, but sovereignty has a price.
The people cheering "BTC in my ISA" are the same ones who still think their bank balance is "their money." They've completely lost the plot on what ownership even means in a world of infinite fiat debasement and digital surveillance.
Bitcoin isn't a "risk asset" for your diversified portfolio.
It's the exit
It's the "opt-out"
It's the hardest money ever invented, precisely because nobody else can touch it when you hold it properly.
Stack self-custodied sats.
Learn multisig.
Run your own node.
Hold your own keys.
Everything else is just like fiat with extra steps.

• Not tied to any single state

Sovereignty Matters !!
The #UK government has introduced new identity verification requirements for business owners.
The government, no matter the party, is positioning the nation as a beta test ground for authoritarian control.
Business owners with significant control are now mandated to submit to #digitalID verification, or face hefty fines and outright exclusion from directorships or ownership roles.
This leaves individuals at the mercy of rulers who can strip away assets for non-compliance.
This highlight the vital importance of #selfsovereignty, especially in your financial life.
When traditional assets like IOUs or even outright owned properties are vulnerable to seizure true independence becomes a necessity.
The law in UK' is in place since 2004 (2004 Civil Contingencies Act) and allows asset confiscation in "emergencies" .... we saw what they are capable of during covid right?
👇👇👇👇👇
with #Bitcoin in #selfcustody you have #selfsovereignty.
☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️
No one can strip you of your assets if you hold the keys.
Disagree with the current regime? Simply pack your backpack, leave the country, and take your wealth with you intact.
In a world of #centralised control, embracing decentralized assets is essential for protecting your #freedom

VENICE AI Vs PROTON LUMO
what do you think about this?
Similarities:
• Both emphasize privacy first and claim no conversation logging on servers.
Key differences:
• Venice AI stores chats locally only (in the browser/device). That means losing browser data = losing history.
• Lumo encrypts saved chats server‑side (zero‑access to Proton), so you can access them across devices if synced.
• Venice’s design routes to decentralized GPU nodes, whereas Lumo runs inference centrally (but with encryption safeguards).

A business spends years creating priceless data, then hands it over to a cloud provider it doesn’t control.
It trades sovereignty for convenience and becomes a tenant of the datacenter owner.
Most people do the same with the only real asset they own, TIME.
They exchange it for IOU‑style “ownership”: houses they don’t truly own, cars they lease, bank accounts that can be altered at a regulator’s will, and FIAT currencies they don't control.
Yet they feel safe knowing they are dependent on lenders who can rewrite the rules anytime.
#KlausSchwab at the #WEF praise a world where you own nothing and you are happy.
That world is already a reality since both businesses and individuals live without true ownership, yet they are happy.
#SelfCustody #Bitcoin is the exit route from this #WEF styled reality.

Bitcoin was created to eliminate:

• Custodians
• Permissioned money
Off-ramps reintroduce all three.
👉spend BTC directly
• Bitrefill
• The Bitcoin Company
• LN POS shops
• BTC Map merchants
• Lightning e-commerce
• Gift cards → real goods
Spending #BTC is less risky than selling BTC

#Decentralised Protocols Matter More Than #Centralised Platforms
As decentralised money matures, it inevitably reshapes how we think about power, ownership, and communication.
True sovereignty is not only about controlling your assets it is about controlling your voice, your identity, and your ability to participate in the digital economy without reliance on centralized gatekeepers.
Decentralised monetary systems were created to remove single points of failure:
No central authority controlling issuance
No intermediary deciding who can transact
No platform that can arbitrarily freeze access
Once individuals experience financial sovereignty, it becomes difficult to justify dependence on centralized systems in other areas of life especially communication.
WE DON'T NEED ELON MASK
Platforms such as #X or #Meta are powerful, efficient, and globally adopted but they are also centralized.
Rules can change overnight
Accounts can be suspended or de-platformed
Algorithms decide visibility
Data ownership belongs to the platform, not the user
This is where decentralised protocols like #NOSTR become relevant.
#NOSTR is not a company.
It is not an app.
It is a protocol.
That distinction matters.
Protocols enable:
Censorship resistance
User-owned identities
Interoperability across clients
Permissionless participation
Instead of trusting a corporation, users trust open standards and cryptography.
Just as #Bitcoin separated money from the state, decentralised communication protocols separate speech from platforms.
As decentralised money grows, decentralised communication becomes a natural next step.
The future is about building open, resilient systems that no single entity controls.
Decentralised money showed us what is possible.
Protocols like #NOSTR show us where we are going.

1. UK banks are not legally required to provide a detailed explanation for freezing or closing an account.
They might give a generic reason (e.g., “compliance review” or “risk assessment”), but they don’t have to disclose specifics.
2. Cannot Tell You Why During Investigations (Tipping-Off Offence) they are legally barred from informing you about it or the reasons for the freeze.
This is to prevent suspects from hiding evidence or assets

good morning #nostr family
just wanted to share my experience during a pilgrimage in medugorje ( bosnia )🇧🇦
a fantastic god worshipping experience and i met fantastic religious and warm people.
i took my mother there as her last wish.
she got cancer in the tongue, she is 74 and inoperable.
so not long to live.
the sanctuary alway full of people and the locals so accommodating and welcoming.
there is a hill were they say the virgin mary appeared to some locals long time ago. people go there too an pray god while going up.
if you love god , whatever god you worship please have one prayer for all the cancer patients of this world and the doctors so they do the right thing instead of serving the big pharmaceutical companies.

why everyone is so focused on the #bitcoin value against fiat or gold no one focus on its value proposition : permission-less money you own and spend with a fix supply in an era where privacy and rights are shrinking at the speed of light.
i speak for experience being locked out from my bank accounts four times in 12 years. traumatic experiences.

this is how the power law looks like compared with a 4 year moving average.
i get that giovanni santostasi and many other model #bitcoin
but i say that the fiat currencies keep expanding to infinity so we know bitcoin is going up.
👇👇👇
so lets remain focused on the true value proposition of #bitcoin. 1.money you truly own
2.money you can spend with no one permission
3.money that have a fix supply

"When overnight lenders - the most conservative players in finance
won't lend for 24 hours even at premium rates...
What does that tell you about what's coming?"

Personally i was locked out for months from my bank accounts at hsbc, rbs, barclays and nationwide without warning.
I also had hot issues with monzo, starling, chase, lloyds, tsb and halifax
I think that list represents pretty much all the banks in the uk 🤣
A traumatic experience if you ask me, with the last experience in August 2024.
I don't chase fiat, i chase #bitcoin ownership every months since 2016... and it pay off with the peace of mind.

#bitcoin put control into your hands allowing you to own your money, spend your own money without anyone ruling. isn't this priceless?

The banksters built a trap: raise rates and everything breaks; lower them and the money turns to trash.
This fiat plane is made of paper and tape, but people still chase GBP instead of #Bitcoin!
Even worse, some folks trade their Bitcoin for GBP then dare complaining when the bankster system crushes them.
