An awesome surprise: Door hardware has finally arrived!
We’ve been getting by with temp hardware but honestly I never liked the wear they would add to the doors. We got huge discounts for our hardware through partnership deals. I am looking forward to seeing these installed and feeling that firmness and quality as we go in and out of our rooms.

Our wall sheathing is looking good and roof features are starting to show 😌
Those ceilings are looking amazingly high. I was almost uncomfortable with it. Until I saw the framing on them! We are going to love coming home to this house ❤️
This has been a wonderful, creative process for me. Can’t wait for the rest of it to continue.

Homes today are practically made from cardboard, we then push people into cities made out of said cardboards.Inside, they are forced to surrender freedoms to live in a shell of a home
I am out. I will build better homes for those who choose to live free

Week4 - Concrete prep and plumbing rough
We’re ready to pour concrete. Last few items to inspect today before we get concrete delivered.
Vapor barrier is down and lapped over. Want to make sure we don’t have any big gaps in there esp where we finish the floor and will be unable to see it if there is moisture building up.
Rebars come next, over the vapor barrier. We made the spring closer to make it more rigid. Thankfully we did not have any extra labor cost from that (Amen!)
Plumbers then came back and taped up to the vapor barrier. Also, we checked that they have insulayfoam around their pipes. This helps a lot once concrete is poured as it gives them wiggle room for final fixture locations
Me and my family are excited for the concrete pour. We are all set!!!

Week 3 now and we have concrete forms in the ground! We can finally walk around and visualize the spaces with my kids. They keep asking about their rooms and such. I am just trying to keep the contractors moving! Demo took some juggling but we got thru it. We are moving at a good pace, a true blessing. God is helping us every step of the way. I feel it.
We had dirt brought in, about 10 loads, which is 120 yards
We are getting plumbing done after this. This is plumbing rough-ins where the plumber digs up his drain lines. There is little work for water supply at this point.
No rebars yet, we are ordering some extra ones for tomorrow. I am working closely with the concrete contractor. We upgraded the slab for better rigidity than what we originally got quoted for, which is typical to the homes they do. It'll cost extra I thought. I keep reminding myself, this is not supposed to be a typical home. I designed this to be a robust, premium homestead. Now I get to build it as a robust, premium homestead. Somehow, the extra beam and rebars are not adding to my labor costs, only to my materials. Such a blessing!
We're looking to add more dirt after this, we'll balance it out after plumbers are done as they add to the dirt as they excavate for trenches for their drains.

On July 13 2024 someone tried to assassinate Trump. I’m putting it here since we know at some point Facebook and everything else will block it, and Nostr won’t even let me myself delete it.

I agree, it would stop the war at the current scale we blatantly go about spreading.
Since it would cost us real money to go to war.
Since the resources we try to monopolize will now be purchased w real money.
Since the US Will not have the monopoly of the money supply that allows us to spend for war the way we do.

Handgun training?
Thankful that my wife is getting trained and building some interest in defending herself. She sent me this after I set up a class for her and some of her friends.
In my opinion all women should have good training on self defense. Actually I think we all should. This is a life skill

Neighbor RV Crushed by metal frame of barndominium in storm
Slowly thinking about this, this can always happen to us. Sometimes the risks are too much and then things go against our way. This was a very hard thing for me to look at and to glean lessons from. As we drove by (a couple of times) to take a look at our neighbor, fellow builder, fellow dreamer's damaged RV, partly crushed by the metal frame of the family's barndominium build - it felt heavy in our hearts. We felt this weight - me, my wife and my children. We all realized quietly, deeply, that this can happen to us too. All that work, destroyed and piled into a significant setback. More time and struggling just to get back to par, then so much more to get through to the other side.
We take on risks, we take on hard things. And sometimes we fail. On the other side of these challenges, there is much value. Much meaning. For those of us on this path, despite the challenges, we know it is worth it for the well being of our children-and also their children.

It’s been a busy couple of days at the #homestead. Wife had the sudden urge to start a #garden. I’ve been putting it off since I am swamped w building a house.
Definitely #blessed that she has had the #homesteading bug, so we can make progress even when I am unable to help.
We filled up the garden beds w great soil from below our pecan tree. Great topsoil there, plus lots of composted mulch from when we cleared the land when we first moved on site.

Hope you don’t mind me chiming in. I love the feel of the fog out there. The picture seems to tell me that is the goal. The trees are working to frame the view too. Some zooming in may help focus the subject, since there is a bit of a distance and a lot of messages can come into the photo. Is it the fog or the open field we want to focus on-that will d pens on how you compose the photo. I hope this helps

Full time #RV living has its iOS and lots of downs. I feel like I am repairing something every weekend. A lot of things I just completely let go of and may revisit repairing it months later. Too many projects for one guy.
The focus was supposed to be on building a house. Or maybe this RV repair period is a warm up for when we get started with the house.
Either way, #skillbuilding doesn’t go to waste.

What is up with most search engines today where everything is getting memory holed! I’m using Brave and I am still getting practically the same results as Google. Still struggling finding things that I know should be coming up for my keywords.
Just searching for GMO and avocados and I can’t rely on the internet anymore
