that calls for a classical quote:
We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art, and very often in our art, the art of words.

what I find hilarious:
"even when the AI tool is instructed to preserve the original sense."
You’re never "instructing" an LLM. You’re just giving context in the hope that it will cause the behavior you want. But the LLM does not follow instructions: it just mixes and matches patterns that fit what you wrote within its compressed training data.

I asked a friend who uses claude to analyze a codebase I maintain, just to make sure that we don’t ignore stuff that people can find.
There were 60 reported vulnerabilities of which 6 were real and one relevant.
And the suggested fixes were all incorrect.
So I’m glad that we got that one relevant report, and we’re working to address it, but that’s not what I’d call a good tool.
You have to know what you do, then you might derive more value than it consumes.

I wish it were actually mandatory to mark AI-generated art on youtube.
Seeing a new music channel and not knowing whether it’s AI or real musicians is damn annoying, and I now find myself just skipping out on channels, because they may be #AI.
If they are AI, then there’s no artist who can grow over time. Outside very narrow circumstances, that instantly eradicates my interest.
Because beauty and complexity in AI songs are just incidental, forming no consistent whole. Paint on a void.

the pre-print paper: https://arxiv.org/abs/2601.20245

Video screens only show the blogpost, so I don’t see how it can actually analyze the research.

Hamas continues the ideology¹ of wanting to murder all Jews that mufti M. A. al-Husseini spread in collaboration with the Nazis and their Radio Zeesen.
So you’re wrong with your claim that the conflict started 1948.
This false claim is how you started your thread.
The continuity of wanting to annihilate Israel is the cause of the ongoing conflict. This ideology even festered in Gaza when Israel drove out all the Israeli settlers from Gaza.

The hate that drives this conflict spread around 1941 when mufti Mohammed Amin al-Husseini met with Hitler and supported the Nazis with their Radio Zeesen in inciting hate against Jews in the Arab world.

I would be happy if they just said: there were always clear rules. cc by can be used by machines, but then every single creator whose creations got used must be attributed properly.
Most of my creations are under cc by-sa. If a machine builds something on top of my creations, the rule *should* be clear: keep the license. If it reads cc by-sa, it must be cc by-sa (or a compatible license like GPLv3).

It’s pretty crazy what the extremely explicit, long winded IntegratedDevelopmentEnvironmentFactoryProviderFactoryFactoryLanguage enabled, that I once swore never to use again, and have been working with again a bit since 2013 (because suppporting privacy projects was more important than my aversion) and professionally since 2017.

Using this as kind of definition, most Java projects wouldn’t actually be Java, but Java/maven. Then there is a clear definition where tests lie. The pom.xml actually has different scopes that compile either only production code or production code and the tests.
And there’s a second filesystem hierarchy for tests (src/main/java vs. src/test/java), but the two get merged together to figure out access by tests to package-private classes.
So this kind of exists, but in Java/maven.

Maybe that’s because what a test is isn’t that strictly defined.
Is a unit test the same as an integration test? What’s an end-to-end test that spins up several docker containers before it runs its code?
Is a doctest that’s part of the procedure definition the same as a unit test?
Example: https://hg.sr.ht/~arnebab/guile-doctests/browse/ice-9/doctests.scm?rev=tip
Is it different if it’s just defined in the docstring as in Python?

Viele Gefährten beginnen als schreckliche Wesen. Aber sie schätzen Tav. Sehr.

The local library already has some console games. But game downloads are notoriously hard for libraries.
There’s almost 200 years of library tradition missing for videogames (because for one, videogames are simply not that old, but also many large videogame producers aren’t keen on libraries).
If you can find a way to enable libraries to have your game, that could go a step towards improving access. But I don’t know how hard that can get.

The limiting factor there is not price, but reading time.

Nuances: kids (much less money) can get books from public libraries, and books are passed around by people who cannot afford them full-price. Street libraries give books for free. These structures that ensure access are missing in gaming.

But keep in mind that Trump first stuffed the supreme court, and democrats failed to undo that in their 4 years, so the structure that’s meant to protect against the wrong man in power is already broken.

And that’s not even considering what this provides for people who work directly in digital.

I just started doing a good news page (finally running it again, after many years not updating).
But I don’t see as much as I hoped:

That said: I do post my best-thing-today sketches roughly one a month:

I hope those help people. Some told me that they do.

Dear #Mozilla,
Please stop trying to tell us, what we’re supposed to want, and start accepting that we want a fucking great webbrowser.
You have a fucking great webbrowser.
Don’t ask me to pay for pocket or VPN that I don’t need. Do a fun yearly in-browser fundraising with crazy cool perks like a button: "Friend of #Firefox".
Shipped worldwide. Payable in a way that as many people worldwide as possible can pay easily — e.g. from EU with bank transfer.
That’s my wish for a present from you.

Im Paper steht: "No potential conflict of interest was reported by the author(s)."
Aber: "Emblemsvåg leads a project called NuProShip, which has enlisted Norwegian stakeholders in government, academia, and industry to develop a Generation IV SMR fit for international shipping."[1]

Was ist da dran?

ISI sagt

That’s basically the idea of saying “if we just had different people, then this would be easy”.
Besides: if you’re annoyed by getting random answers from me, please say so. I have you in my notifications because I find a lot of the things you write pretty interesting, though I don’t always agree, but that also means that I tend to answer … if that annoys you, I’d take you out of the notifications (I don’t want to annoy).
