Nice! Glad you got it back!
The social media side of the protocol/client space is still pretty flaky at times. I like testing different clients, but there’s definitely risk involved. Good news is that we’re at a point where we can all roll our own clients. That’s also the bad news. Lol
I still feel the decentralized pub/priv key architecture is the best part. That, and sending decentralized money!
I’ve been wanting a good Nostr auction client for some time. I guess there’s no excuses now.

I consistently ran into an issue a while back similar to this. I was primarily using primal at the time and would occasionally long in to zap.stream from a laptop to watch a livestream. If I would follow an npub it would completely flush my entire follow list from primal and when I logged back into primal I’d just have that npubs I’d follow from zap.stream. I’d end up using the primal restore option to pick a timestamp to restore to.
Summary - I think different clients are able to overwrite your follows from other clients. 🤷‍♂️ Didn’t make a lot of sense, but hope that helps.

My partner and I discuss this topic often. That we have disparate language within the fiat system. People feel as though they are talking about the same topic, but they aren’t.
I brought this book up to her some time ago, and it brought back memories of what we thought democracy meant in the 1980’s and 90’s. When you wanted to say something wasn’t fair we’d say it wasn’t very democratic. We didn’t bother to look up the word. We “knew” from the state sponsored education that it meant “fair”, “free”, “equal”, “liberty”, etc…. Nevermind that the rules were ever-changing, you didn’t really have a say, and that broken money gave certain people power in how the market and even the law worked.
Simply understanding that money doesn’t have to be controlled, and that you can safely store your time and energy into something that could be unconfiscatable (property rights) somehow changes how one fundamentally sees the world.
I don’t feel this book would’ve had as much of an impact on me if I hadn’t found bitcoin first.

I can see why it could look suspect if you haven’t seen the Entropia pieces before. They’re expensive but it beats cutting out tiny pieces of paper; unless you’ve got kids that’ll do it. That’s what I had my kids do when we setup theirs. Still, the plastic version is much more manageable if you don’t like dice. A person should still take the time and review the pieces though to make sure they match the list. Always a good idea!

Easy starting points
• Run a node
• Host your own password storage
• Delete some old social media accounts

It’s not about human verification. It’s about their centralized approaches and making decisions for people. It’s also putting users at risk by creating a giant honeypot.
Individuals wielding public/private key encryption, not only allows them to determine human from AI, but it also allows them to determine trusted AI from untrusted AI. The best approach is to allow people to build trust one connection at a time. We don’t need their help and we don’t need state regulation.
Quit trying to “save us” with your panopticon. Decentralize or get out of the way. And as users we need to avoid these “conveniences”. You’re only helping to build your cell.

You may support this move; however, this is how we start losing liberties. Imagining this being used as impetuous for making use of “self custodial” bitcoin illegal. Just saying we should be very careful when celebrating the methods we use to stop criminal behavior. FinCEN is unelected and without congressional oversight, and has broad authority to issue regulation under the Bank Secrecy Act. They have the power to broaden this to make self-custody illegal to “protect the children and stop terrorism”.

Followup. I figured out a workaround for anyone that’s in the same situation. Mileage may vary. Again, this is iOS specific.
I have a Premium and non-Premium account and zapping from the same Minibits/Lightening address:
1. Keep a separate NWC profile setup in Minibits for each. (Label them differently)
2. When you experience wallet connection issues Disconnect the Minibits wallet from the Primal client for the selected profile.
3. Paste the Connection string back in and close both Minibits and Primal. Reopen Minibits and Primal in that order.
4. When you open up Primal you should see the pop-up from Minibits:
“Minibits NWC listener
Listening for NWC commands…”
*That indicates it’s ready to zap. 🤞
If it doesn’t work repeat steps 2 & 3.
I don’t know if this is more of a Primal or Minibits issue, but it’s currently a suitable workaround for my purposes.

Fwiw Anyone looking to move. I have a Premium account and the integration becomes flakey with NWC and Minibits. Also noticed issues saving lightening address when the Primal Wallet is turned off. Some days it works, but only appears to be an issue with Primal premium. I’ve setup other users with minibits on Primal without issue, but they were not Premium users. I’ve also integrated Minibits with two other Nostr clients without issue. There’s an issue logged on github so I’d imagine it will get addressed. This is specific to iOS in my case.
Premium is great otherwise and considering Pro, but waiting to see the Minibits issue gets squared away first. If any devs want me to run tests or have q’s, just reach out.

I agree with the thought but can’t imagine how I’d react put in the same position. When the mafia makes the rules you may find it’s not just you that suffers, but those closest to you. It’s one of those decisions I hope they/we don’t all regret. It’s not legal precedent now, but the implications of a plea certainly don’t help free speech.
Watching the Flash stream of news we can’t help notice our privacy is also under threat.
Erosion of privacy chills free speech. When people feel constantly monitored, they're less likely to express dissenting or unpopular opinions, fearing judgment, retaliation, or other consequences – effectively self-censoring and limiting open discourse. Essentially, privacy provides the space needed for free thought and expression. And “unpopular opinion” is now just a figment of reality when central media gives us the narrative of what is popular.
So, I guess back to your point. 😔

I guess it’s all on how they state their results…. They must’ve thrown out this version:
“23% of investors or fund managers have allocations to cryptocurrencies!
The average allocation is already .4%!
3% of our investors already allocate 2% of their funds and another 8% allocate at least 1% of their funds.”
Today it’s all about editorial; even when just reporting results. You can often gain insight on incentives/fears simply based on their word choice. They could’ve released the survey numbers and let people draw their own conclusions, but they need the conclusion packaged with their report so we know what to think. 🤔
It’s funny that historically most fund managers also invest 1-3% of their own money in their own funds. I’d be curious if that number is going down, and how much they allocate to Bitcoin.

Can we go back to the former and just discuss whether or not to run the coming versions of core. And express our opinions as node runners.
Why are we choosing sides instead of literal values?
While I love the idea of multiple implementations. Attaching a brand to the debate sort of turned this into a popularity contest instead of people choosing actual number values.

What a terrible comparison!
Yes, I’m sure he wants a regulatory moat.
We need open source software, decentralization, and encryption to protect ourselves from threats like Sam Altman.

It’s always been when, not if your data will be compromised.
Anytime your state claims they’re collecting your information in a centralized database they are not protecting you or your children. They’re putting you at greater risk.
Efforts to convince you otherwise usually involve fear, and that should be your first clue they are trying to extract or control.

💯 People want a built-in web of trust and that simply doesn’t happen. You have to build your own trust network. I feel Signal gained most of its success simply because it’s tied to or phone numbers. Both fortunate & unfortunate. It’s hard to get people to realize why that matters without some sort of pain or overt surveillance headlines that hit home. Is there some way to create a Signal to SimpleX bridge? Not even sure how that would work.

Is this where they fake donations and print money?
Or do they have some sort of ledger that you can verify?

Was 3 miles south of this in the sun without a drop of rain. The sky to the north looked like something out of movie 2012.

The only thing that made any sense was getting rid of property tax. The rest of what he said was complete trash.
