I have some shitty koorui (bottom left) and an intehill one that I quite like (top right of the photo) (kudos to @nprofile…p4qy for hooking me up)
depending on your preference of how you want to position it (stick it to the side of the laptop vs free standing placement) you might want to look into something more elaborate like sotsu or bunch of others who are doing similar things. there also lots of dual options now.
i havent bit the bullet on any of the expensive options yet - I have some cheap amazon portable stands and duct tape for improvisation
also for longer stays I've also bought a cheap monitor before and donated it when leaving

you can have 100 separated wallets if you're gonna open that veracrypt drive and keepass on the same computer you use to argue with stranger over the internet it doesn't help you much
clearly there is deniability and at rest security in mind with veracrypt+keepass but accessing that is problematic and the author glances over a large part of a threat model for self custody with everything missing (or omitted) in the post. so i don't think i'm missing anything, i completely understand and see the missing parts of his setup
trusting the machine you are using is a big assumption and should generally be avoided as much as possible (just look at the recent bybit hack). having separate machine only for bitcoin wallet stuff and not connecting it to the internet is basic opsec for setups like this.

Something being a mess doesnt mean that a lesser solution is better by default.
Nostr ux is a mess but its still better than twitter in other aspects.
Self custody is messy, its complex and complicated, theres no great solutions to many problems. There is a lot of handwaving and assumed "you only need to do this 100 things and it works". Unlikely that in 100y we are still using the same concepts or that we onboard a billion people the same way. It gets better over time but thats besides the point.
Solution in original post is crap hence my warning. You decided to hang on the messy self custody cpmment part of that comment.

I never said people should use custodial solutions instead. But given how you managed to misunderstand my simple comment its not a stretch to think that self custody might be quite a complicated process for people even without some half baked ideas on hpw to roll your own setup like the original post.
