I find God in the tangled forgotten souls, and my heart knows no other joy or sincerity. All other loves are just obligation.

"Data is the new colonization" it took me a while to realize exactly what is meant by data and what is lost with the loss of privacy until I could see it with my own eyes. The new predator has a new sense organ and we are struggling to adapt to how easily our hidden tendencies/temperaments are shepherded and shaped. Perhaps this is a benefit of speed, that the consequences of heedlessness are readily apparent within months if not weeks and in that is a chance to become attentive.

Ghaflah is a concept I'm still trying to wrap my head around. Usually it is in reference to the Day of Judgement, and the lack of awareness of the significance of one's (in)actions, or even the significance of their very existence, which is ultimately rectified once it's too late. As the technological/machine-like society aims to remove all contingency, and therefore the consequences of inattention or mistakes, doesn't it remove the significance of human attention and action? And as we see the devastating results of such a world on our agency and self-efficacy, it is like we are living through a preview of the Day of Judgement. And yet still complacent. What could possibly convince us to change?

"What enlists agents into cosmic war is not any particular political, spiritual, or ethical stance, but the use of energy. An intelligent agent does not need to be moral, or conscious, or have the ability to set its own goals, to participate in cosmic war."
