I underestimated how much financial advisors understand bitcoin.
I was speaking with one recently who said “…bitcoin isn’t like gold it’s like fiat”.

Yeah, exactly. It’s to help start thinking of time in terms of block height. The same way we think of value denominated in bitcoin rather than fiat now.
I like how Satoshi called bitcoin a “time chain” and block height is essentially a world clock
