yes, I work with AI agents too much to trust them. No common sense. I personally think LLMs are a dead end for real artificial intelligence, which will be self-learning, have common sense (understand real world cause and effect), and probably more closely resemble bio intelligence. Scared also of giving any big tech company such control over my life. Would wait for a local agent that I could fully control.

I work with AI too much to trust personal agents in their current form. I find they generally don't have common sense. I also don't want facebook or google embedded into my computers. I'm imagining things will be a lot better in a few years with better local models.

I love that we can use bitcoin to reduce energy costs for humanity and stablize the grid butI must admit tuning out whenever the bitcoin as "clean energy so we can stop man-made climate change" comes up.

Hard part is always testing. Agents will tell you it's properly tested when it's all theater. You'll have thousands of tests and just hope that some solid percentage of them are real. Hopefully the new testing integration in the game harness will solve that.

My diet is meat heavy now. Experience generally good. Find that it's easy to maintain a consistent weight. I went keto for a while a long time ago. Very positive, after the ~1 week "flu". It helped me notice my hunger pangs were just sugar cravings. Had more consistent energy. I think keto is good for resets. Not sure anyone would need to maintain for long term unless you have other issues (aware that some mental health issues see improvements from keto).

Yes, this sums it up. There are people who see the project as a hope to make the world a better place (fix the money, fix the world), and those who don't. My perspective comes from having kids and family that I hope have some of the freedoms that I grew up with. Protecting them from being fiat debt slaves. That you don't care is actually sad really. It's says that you're not thinking about or hoping for a positive future. Nothing to care about.

Yes, exactly why the community just ends up in binaries (this good, this bad). it's a tradeoff between saying something, or saying quiet when people are about to "invest" in that new trump memecoin (or whatever). Personally it's better to say something even if it has to be a tldr for new people. We've all made mistakes and learned from them. IMHO better to protect people than not.

This is true. There were some toxic bitcoiners screaming that hardware wallets were shitcoins because their risks were not being properly disclosed. Hard for most people to understand the risks and the community is constantly trying to create simplified heuristics to help with the education process. The concept of shitcoin is such an attempt. Most people don't have the time or ability to dig into the nuanced details. The binary (bitcoin vs shitcoin) is a simplified heuristic that is correct the vast majority of the time. Sadly the community failed with hardware wallets. I suspect because they were a source of revenue for podcasters and had better UX than dice rolling, etc.

I agree with you. Your definition is similar to mine: "A token that is a likely rug-pull because its defects are not well known to users." I think your definition might be better. The reason I classify Monero as a shitcoin (despite appreciating its attempt at privacy), is because users don't know the risks of inflation bugs (like how Liquid got attacked), the difference in supply emission, and how people overestimate the privacy aspect because of its small usage. Giacomo Zucco I think spent some time addressing this; also Seth's post is related: https://sethforprivacy.com/posts/why-i-focus-on-bitcoin/

They are not fake purity tests. They are attempts to protect new entrants from common mistakes. After watching people get burned through false shitcoin promises, bitcoiners have a tendency to not want to promote shitcoining.

I'm not as knowledgeable as some in the community, so I can only provide a partial list. Op_cat is powerful and nobody knows all the ways it can be used. It's a hope that creative attackers won't later find a way to abuse it. Like with the changes with segwit and taproot that were later abused to make it easier and cheaper to add inscriptions to the chain, if something has unknown scope, it could be used in ways we don't foresee. Also, developers are focused on the technical risks of the proposal. Few are considering the full system of overlapping incentives that make the bitcoin network function properly and keep it decentralized. Op_cat likely increases the power of miners over the nodes by increasing MEV extraction attacks, promoting miner centralization. Those who oppose op_cat often take the view that bitcoin is our best hope for separating money from state and we must move carefully. Just as we wouldn't make changes to a operating nuclear power plant without understanding the full risks, we shouldn't just make changes to the bitcoin network without understanding the full risks. As nobody can know the full risks of a feature like op_cat (because of its flexibility and power), it should be used only in sidechains and L2s.

With all the recent bitcoin attacks, bitcoin security is on many people's minds. The reason many bitcoiners take issue with op_cat isn't because it's "inefficient" or "too general of a solution". It's because it increases security risks. You have an opportunity to explain those top concerns simply to help educate people on both sides of the debate.

Unfortunately, you can't just throw bodies at a project and make it better. Not sure if you've managed a large dev team. As you add people your team overhead in communication and coordination increases causing lower productivity. Amazon famously had their restriction that no team could be larger than the people that could eat two boxes of pizza. You also can't dismiss the tradeoffs between layers and decentralization. The smaller the base layer data requirements, the more nodes that can independently operate. It's a no-brainer for me. The best system is the one with the greatest ability to run local nodes at global scale while preserving created trust.

I'm sure the Liquid team thought they were being "aggressive" in their security too. We have no idea how much effort developers are putting into their projects. My point is that the uncertainty is the problem. You can't know, nobody can. The only thing you can trust is what you can audit. I can prove for myself there are only 21 million BTC.

That's not racism. It's the opposite. He's clearly expressing his concern for how govt intervention is harming black people. Lowering standards for a group will obviously have negative consequences. The govt is literally branding an entire race as not equally competent. It's pretty clear that govt intervention has harmed black people. As another example, you can either believe that black fathers just naturally abandon their children at far higher rates than everyone else, or you can believe that there is another systemic underlying cause at work. I would think that people who knowingly support a system that harms a group of people based on their race, are actually the racists.

It's one of the reasons I've been collecting passports and residencies. Long time believer in the Sovereign Individual thesis. The welfare nation states will need to go through the "great adjustment" where they slowly go bankrupt. They can't avoid it and will be dangerous places as it happens. Already, in places like Canada, the majority of voters in the country are financially dependent on the government. Direct welfare, employment, subsidies, etc. Once you're dependent on the govt, you'll likely continue to vote for more socialism until your physical safety is directly at risk. It took Argentina 80 years to reach that point. As the world transitions multi-polar, I'm hoping there will be safe havens in the world (but not guaranteed, of course). Another part of the SI thesis is the decentralizing effects of technology. YOu can see that playing out in open source AI models. Always getting cheaper and easier to run locally. World in transition, but many reasons to be optimistic.

Sure, it might be finite, but you don't know how many more bugs are in there. It's the uncertainty that kills it. You can never know if you fixed all the bugs. When you have a choice between storing your life savings in one vs the other, you'll always choose the more certain one.

We've all just watched Liquid get burned because of confidential transactions. Nobody can tell if there is an inflation bug until it's too late. It's necessary for a globally trusted base money to be open and visible to be trustworthy. We need to add privacy in other ways (joins, L2, etc.)

It seems many bitcoiners do, which surprises me. I would have expected more suspicion for fiat world narratives. 9/11 was actually my blackpill moment. I was glued to the news that morning. I remember clearly the news updates on flight 93. They were interviewing folks from the ground reporting how they had heard planes flying overhead, and a large explosion in the sky. They also showed scenes of parts wreckage strewn over large areas of ground. Bits of engine here, plane parts over there. Then at some point they pivoted to show a burnt area of ground, again no crash wreckage. A while later they started reporting that a plane had crashed into the ground, and at first I had thought they were referring to another plane. After they stopped reporting about the explosion in the sky, and no longer showed the burnt ground, I realized that they were actually talking about the same plane and had switched stories. I justified it at the time by thinking that Cheney had claimed he had the power to order planes to be shot down, and they did, but changed the story when they discovered the phone calls about the passengers going to attempt to storm the cockpit. Why explain about shooting down the plane when you can make heroes of the passengers? Then I started realizing that pretty much everything they told us was not true. Opened my eyes.

I think by publishing your transaction in the visible mempool, you're notifying people that your seed might be an easy target. They then have minutes to focus on it to solve it before its included in the block. if they crack it, then they can replace the fee to sweep it from you. I think that's why some people were proposing to use mara's slipstream to avoid the visible mempool.

That's a good way to look at it. I still can't shake the preference for software and dedicated airgapped systems. Hardware devices seem like they have much higher risk. They usually keep your address (Coinkite seemed to collect and retain it despite claiming otherwise), they are supply chain targets, they require firmware which may reduce the speed of fixes, etc.

Yes, when we look back years from now and only 0.1% of people hold self custody, we'll remember why. I've been thinking about this for a long time. I don't know how it can be fixed. Hardware devices are slow to update, represent an honeypot / attack target. Using software alone requires specialized knowledge. I hope we find a way to fix this.

It's very frustrating. That core did that and that 110 is so limited in actually fixing the root problem of data / spam. I appreciate the middle finger to core that it is, but at this point, I'm hoping that the community can rally around a block size decrease.

2026-07-30 14:34:39 GMT

Indeed. It's a political response to a political action. The policy change for Citrea was arguably not for technical reasons to improve bitcoin. I think that's why the plebs were so upset that it was done.

2026-07-30 13:07:58 GMT

- reply

I support 110 in principle, knowing that it's not going to make any difference in blockchain spam, because I think there needs to be some accountability for core pushing through a policy change to benefit one spammer corporation (Citrea). It's a one-year middle finger to core. The idea behind the game theory (not sure at all whether this will work) is that a soft fork can be adopted with a significant minority of nodes and miners because all nodes accept the soft fork by default (because, as a soft fork, it restricts consensus rules that all nodes already accept) and thereby puts miners into a position where they will lose their block rewards if other miners switch to the soft fork. Each miner has a choice, they can switch to the soft fork and always get their block rewards, or not switch and has some small probability that they won't. The safe choice is to switch as there is no cost to switching for most.

It's really about not letting Core's dealings with Citrea go unanswered. The community felt helpless and needed to do something. It's effectiveness is secondary to its middle finger.

2026-07-29 16:50:20 GMT

- reply

The whole 110 effort is a reaction to Core changing the relay policy against everyone's wishes solely to make ONE corporation happy (Citrea), so that said corporation could add Eth features to bitcoin. I wish 110 was better, and it wouldn't be the end of the world if it gets implemented somehow, but I completely sympathize with the effort.
