We're trying Fusion right now because it's free but the VM refuses to find a startup disk even though we gave it one. We tried the basic flow of downloading an ISO but it was like your disk *will* be 64 GB! SO we had to go the custom route with an ISO which should still work? So partner got her first check for this month, and it and mine were immediately wiped out in paying stuff back and christmas shopping, to the point we're at the very edge again. ANother will come right before January, but that's likely to be the same story. Her birthday is in January, even! And on top of that, we need plane ticket money. Her grandma is going to have open heart surgery in January, and she needs to be there to care for her in the aftermath of that for about a month. Even with Southwest, which is the cheapest option we've seen so far, one leg from Houston to Raley is @214 plus who knows how much in taxes, and a round-trip with a month gap is still like 400. And those are on sale because of cyber season, which we almost certainly won't be able to do in time. Her grandma of course means a lot to her even though she moved down here, is one of the few family members she likes, and no one else is actually available to adequately take care of her all the time, plus the whole helping the grandparent that helped you, she lived with her for quite some years. If someone could actually send the entire amount for one leg that would be fantastic, but even if you can't, cause that's a lot, any little thing helps. If everyone gives a little then we can still hopefully reach it. And if we go over what would be needed for both legs somehow, the surplus will be used to get us out of debt and pay bills, and maybe a birthday present or dinner. Many of these people have many challenges to get to a face-to-face appointment.
