The Continental

I would actually say Lightning is economically unsuitable for micropayments. I'm not sure where the general misconception stems from but it's plainly false when you have some experience running a node at scale
I'm not sure what the technical definition of a "micropayment" is, but for the sake of argument let's say it's a payment below the dust threshold and thus not possible on-chain.
So in the event of a force closure, these are not recoverable
They wear out my SSDs just the same as any other payment. Replacing SSDs is one of the main, if not the largest OPEX of running a Lightning node, especially when you factor in redundancy, downtime etc
Although the absolute fee they pay are usually lower than a larger payment, in relative terms they are very expensive (1 sat base fee is almost 5% on 21 sat micropayment)
Anecdotally in the past I have been routing what I suspect to be podcasting 2.0 payments with 5 sat base fees, which paid 500% fees on 1 sat payments, every minute
In most cases it makes more sense economically to accumulate in a mint then cashing out

To the operator of dusthub (034e9f436e307a612f47d83a5179ab7598cb2014c420ceb04169071d4387ec7bc8), please fix your network connection, your node is going offline every few minutes. Also please add contact info so others can reach you about issues privately. Thanks.

With the recent addition of Bitcoin Veneto, The Continental node is now directly connected to all 4 existing coordinators with channels of at least 5M, most with 0 fees (except TempleOfSats).
If you're a frequent user of #RoboSats opening a private channel to The Continental will allow you to trade on all 4 coordinators just one hop away. Just saying 😉

Yeah @nprofile…kjrj is running ldk and has weird issues. The other day I tried to coop close a channel with them but they panicked and decided to force close instead. Then all their channels with me became disabled and I had to manually reconnect.

Does anyone know how to get in touch with the operator of this node? It has been down for weeks now.

No need to open a new one, the plan is to wind this node down. Will be in touch if I start a new one with better infrastructure.

Will be probably another 2 days. If you can't wait any longer please feel free to close the channel. Given the fiasco I plan to shut down this node once I can get it back online. My apologies again.

If you're running LND or CLN, consider changing these configurations to protect your node and the network during high fee environments.

If anyone knows how to contact the owner of this node, please tell them to bring it online to avoid force close. Cheers.

Tools can only help you so much as you know how to use them.

Public (announced) channels are announced through the gossip protocol so that other nodes can route payments through your node, as opposed to private (unannounced) channels that do not route payments for others. For sending and receiving you only need the latter, and that's also what most self custodial wallet providers use for individual user wallets.
If you're making a loss from rebalancing then it means you're not pricing your liquidity correctly. Raise the fees on channels that drain and have no inbound flow, and lower the fees on channels that have most of the liquidity on your side. Don't pay more to rebalance than what you can charge in fees. Learn how other nodes are pricing their liquidity to your channel peers, this information is public.

Maybe displaying pending htlcs differently and/or at different points in time assuming you mean channel balances not on-chain

What is the purpose of your node? If it's trying to be a routing node, then obviously not good. But if it's just for spending and receiving, I think that's normal, but then why would you need public channels (assuming that's the topic of your question)? Also think from your channel peers' perspective. Why would they want to keep idle capital in a channel with you when it could be put to better use elsewhere?
