on Pleroma if you make a post and mention a remote account of a user that does not exist it will make the submission hang for 5 seconds.
Mastodon likely has a similar problem because it's the same API implementation -- POST /api/v1/statuses has to return the status object you just posted (why?) and if there's a user you're mentioning that doesn't exist or isn't known in the local database it has to do the whole webfinger dance to look it up... which is SLOWWWWWW
you can validate this by trying to mention e.g., @[email protected] and click the Post button
This is retarded and bad design, so much processing could be involved in submitting a post. Returning the status should have been optional; posting should have been completely async

I installed OpenClaw on a Debian VM, opened up the web chat, and told it that I want it to build a bridge to DeltaChat to communicate with me as it's not an officially supported integration.
I told it to pip install the deltachat-rpc-server, communicate with it over JSON-RPC, read my blog post about DeltaChat bots to understand how to use the JSON RPC, and to register an account on my server and send me the invite link.
it worked. Fully autonomously. Built the integration, and now I have an AI assistant inside DeltaChat

also you'll want to set the persist; option on the jail in case you want to start it up with no processes running so you can poke around and figure out what you need to get it working the way you want

These other projects *exist* but don't actually work with any groups directly to prove they're actually helping real humans solve real problems. Writing some code is only half the work.

DeltaChat has just made its long-awaited Wireguard-esque multi-relay release.
You can add multiple relays (chatmail/email accounts) to your profile. Your account now survives server outages, censorship, or even government seizures. Your identity is not tied to a single email address anymore.
Change to another relay, message your contacts/groups, and they'll immediately learn the new address they can reach you at and will respond using that address now.
Just like how Wireguard gets a valid encrypted packet from a peer at a new IP address and automatically starts using it.

@nprofile…x4wz ahhhh this is the evolution of the original FreeNAS which later was renamed to NAS4Free. I thought the screenshots looked familiar.
I don't know how long it will take them to spin a release on FreeBSD 15 but there are some great ZFS enhancements in there. I just can't justify running my NAS as an appliance like this. I prefer to run vanilla FreeBSD and have full control
