Voice commands, white balance, and dimming are cool features to have but I'm not buying "smart lights" again.
They have burned out or otherwise had issues way too often, almost incandescent bulb levels of needing replacement.
They seem to accidentally DoS attack your router if they call come on at once (power outage) too.
Smart switches might be okay but my house isn't wired for em. You don't want to depend on Google/Amazon/apple anyway.

@nprofile…hqk5 I have only seen them played by people who already know what they're doing, but I don't recall many complaints about adventure game logic from those playing.
I'd grab it myself buuut...I was already having trouble keeping up with my games then I bought two new JRPGs at once.

@nprofile…e965 Can't believe people still believe in the real names thing after 2016. Facebook is one of the absolute worst places online and one of the only ones with a real name policy.
The very concept is completely indefensible.

Figured for purely personal and testing stuff I would try a local LLM to at least say I did it.
File size was bizarrely well hidden on the instructions page. None of the recommendations I searched up mentioned it. Turns out it is 1.03 terabytes.
Couldn't even finish the download, and thank goodness ISPs have mostly stopped treating you like a terrorist for downloading more than 50GB a day.
Yareyare. From Reddit threads, it sounds like people test out dozens of these. Who's got the space?

I wish people understood that "exploit found in open-source project" is how open-source projects get MORE, not LESS secure.
You do not "make software without vulnerabilities." You fix them when they are found, just like other bugs. "Vulnerability found" does not mean "stop using permanently"
Critically, closed-source programs don't even need to be exploited for your information to be at risk. I'd rather my data be in plaintext on Mastodon than quantum-safe encrypted in Facebook's database.

@nprofile…hm63 Hm, for the purpose of the parody I *would* like her to get all 6 shots off. I could probably make it work with all but one or a few missing.
She is in full panic adrenaline mode by this point. She can be as useless as anything afterward since it's the end of the scene; just a quick quip and she passes out for a hospital trip.

If you watch the #DoroHeDoro ending credits videos with the DOOM parody, watch En's life counter. The numbers lag on "69" every time his life goes up/down to it again.

I love bird names. You see a weird thing with a blue spot and wide legs and you look up your Birdology book and it turns out it's called a "Blue-spotted Wide-legged Bitch" or something

@nprofile…30n5 I am so scared of ruining meat by freezing it, I've never managed to do this.
I do have some ground turkey and turkey breast in my freezer to try some time. Cooking scary.

I got a #costco membership. What should I be looking to buy there to get the most out of it?
Currently in poverty finance mode, so hopefully it is a good buy. I got in to get a LitterRobot 4 for the cats.

I need a good phone camera mount, ideally that also works as a "real" camera mount.
Recommendations? I got a cheapo ring light one on Amazon but my Pixel 8 Pro is too heavy for it. Also, should I get a ringlight or a different king of light? Mostly for selfies/modeling in-home.

Age verification systems should just ask whether Donald Trump would be interested in you, if you answer yes, that's "child mode".

I like #Invincible a ton, but Mark is easily my least favorite major character by a lot.
Is that a common interpretation? Like he is in his interesting situations and well written and stuff I guess but I also just want him to shut up and go away.

Can I get custom emoji in #Matrix? I stopped paying Discord after the latest nonsense. If I can just have my lil Zelda faces somewhere not-corporate, I'd be happy.

One of the funniest/most frustrating things to me in all of Gaming will be nintendo's insistence on remaking N64 games on the worst possible hardware.
First Mario 64 on DS, which arguably looks and inarguably controls worse.
The OoT and Majora's Mask remakes are pretty solid but...god. I hope I never have to bust those hand-torture machines out again. By the end of the 3DS lifespan I straight-up hated portables.
Not you, Vita. Sony a little, but not you.

Socially manipulate your cat by leaving a square-shaped area on an elevated surface. It is not just boxes, cats love sitting on squares, even flat books.
I fold up blankets and leave them where I want the cats to sit; it works surprisingly well to corral them.

What's a #Retrogaming hardware fact you know?
Pushing the line of Retro, but the #Gamecube C Stick? It is bad on purpose. Open it up, and you can put a "control stick" right on top, it's the same mount.

@nprofile…vzuc On paper, yes, in practice, not without mass re-housing of homeless, and even then, you'd also have to mass-relocate people who rent if you really want to decrease prices everywhere.
10 houses in Iowa doesn't do 5 homeless, or buyers, in CA.
Relevant stat: most homeless do not "migrate". Lazy link warning https://www.planetizen.com/news/2023/07/124743-new-study-debunks-homeless-migration-theory

My contention is: I love #VideoGames but I hate #Software.
It is regrettable that Video Games are Software. Especially on PC.
