@nprofile…3e0h I tried and i failed - I see the frames in TTS but they dont show up in ttnmapper.
Last frames in ttnmapper for my gateway are in early 2024 - And for other gateways i fail to find newer stuff than late 2024 ...
I then grabbed the frames via MQTT integration from tts and rendered them with QGIS.

"I never seen anybody doing this in my life."
Have you in the past 20 Years installed ANYTHING from the net?
I could now pick 20 projects randomly and they typically start with
"curl https://$project/simpleinstall.sh | bash -c" or while at it with "sudo bash -c"
And people do exactly that. We advise people to compromise their systems. And people even to that in production. As a Sysadmin oldtimer my bat is typically not long enough to hit all users on their head.
And then we advise people to run anything from their $PATH which they just lost control over.
We loosen security step by step on ALL levels and then force users to install XDR/IDS software with tons of kernel modules to find these misbehaviours.
Then we preach using containers which users ran the "curl | bash" stuff in. So we now have a bitcoin miner in a container we deploy.

@nprofile…0ww0 @nprofile…h77u Its not about local libs - Its about a random interpreter beeing run from something in the users path. E.g. we get a user with some "curl | bash -c" to get a drive by download to ~/bin/python - suddenly all python script will be persistently call your binary without you even noticing. You have persistet on the users machine in a pretty non obvious position.

@nprofile…txrw @nprofile…h77u And perl is not affected by this to the degree of python because typically does not run/require a venv as python does on modern OSes and thus does not need/require using /usr/bin/env as a path expansion for the perl intepreter. End as a Perl dev for >25 years i can count on 2 hands how often i found someone using #!/usr/bin/env perl

@nprofile…txrw @nprofile…h77u Thread model is a drive by download to a directory in the use homedir e.g ~/bin which then is in the path.
If i have a random chance of putting a binary into the users homedir to run my bitcoin miner i'd go for placing an ~/bin/python or ~/bin/python3

@nprofile…h77u I typically dont like the "env" part - IMHO its a security issue. Env causes python to be read somewhere from your PATH. So in case you happen to be able to replace/prepend the PATH variable.
I typically remove that and replace it be explicitly referencing the system binary - which is an issue with venvs ...
This is why i typically stay with perl.

@nprofile…3e0h I was debugging a DAB stack as i added Data Packet Services and FEC for that - but packets kept on disappearing and looking for it i found a strict "if (!crc_valid()) { return; }" which made it obvious.
And there is even more - even if you cant really tell the continous counter or the packet stream address you should first apply FEC as the header also may be subject to fixing.
Got all that working now. Receiving GPS correction data now even in "bit flippy environments" with very simple antennas.
Recovering framing on all layers from complete stream drop out needs some love though i guess.

What happend with #spamhaus ?
It seems random ip addresses return:
"Error: open resolver; https://check.spamhaus.org/returnc/pub"
since yesterday - I am pretty shure these systems dont have an open resolver - and i even checked ... So something is definitly b0rken with spamhaus.
Disabled it everywhere.

2025-05-06 08:08:29 GMT

In layered packet networks its hard to decide when to drop a packet.
Does a CRC error on a lower layer say you should drop?
Maybe the layer above has FEC and may correct it?

@nprofile…mesd I started with linux in '94 and had a leased line into my Childhood room. Analog with 28k. On the opposite site i only got Token Ring - so i first had a Banzai or KA9Q for routing from the Token Ring to the Analog Leased line.
Later i moved it to a Cisco 3000 when i changed the leased line from 28k to an 2MBit X.21 interface with SDSL Modems.
So Tokenring -> C3k -> X.21 -> SDSL Modem -> 2 Wire leased line (Analog TG) -> Modem X.21 -> Cisco 4k X.21 -> Ethernet -> Linux

- With the new addition we do not change the amount/type of data beeing published, only the way of presentation
So where is your (new) violation?

Does anyone know a linux based server side implementation of the Sharepoint document upload protocol?
I have a Document Scanner which is capable of directly uploading to Sharepoint but for obvious reasons i dont have a sharepoint.

@nprofile…mesd @nprofile…tm6y i think he follows me. The issue here is that its not a standard eSIM ... It seems the stuff predates all the eSIM stuff

Has anyone a Clue how the old #Telit
#simWISE Virtual Sim stuff works?
I got board with a Telit GE866 QUAD GSM Chipsets without SIM Carrier. From Firmware i see they are using the internal Virtual Sim initialising with
AT#VSIMSETPROF=1
I'd be interested to activate the GSM Modems on these Board with any kind of SIM Card.
