100%. I just used openclaw to ship paywritr. All the added context...an absolute tokenmuncher. Constantly toggling between providers during cool off periods.
It was fun hooking them up to GitHub bots to not only push code but to draft, prioritize, and coordinate issues in GitHub Projects, every action they took was associated with an issue on a Kanban board they controlled. But damn those conversations were expensive.

Bitcoin is hard coded to die in 2106. Die. That’s the one real bug. The one protocol flaw that matters. If we don’t fix it before ossification, we’re not preserving money, we’re embalming it.
But don’t worry, the devs are on it. Sort of. Right after they finish force-feeding you Tap_return_CTV_Mimble_Schnorr_Witroot, or whatever alphabet soup lets them feel like Prometheus with a GitHub repo.
Segwit was going to fix scaling. Taproot was gonna fix privacy. What did we get? Dormant code and broken promises.
The only thing that matters, THE ONE GODFORSAKEN JOB, is fixing the 2106 bug before we nail the protocol into the ossification coffin. But that’s too boring, too low-clout, too... responsible.
Bitcoin isn’t a playground. It’s the last shot we’ve got at civilization-scale sound money. You don’t gamble with civilization. You fix the goddamn clock, then you freeze it in stone.

Let’s clear this up. First, the Lindy effect isn’t some sacred cow. It’s an observation: things that last tend to keep lasting. Not because they’re immortal or divine, but because they’ve dodged the ax while the flashy, novel ideas lined up to get decapitated.
Now, this whole "opportunity cost" jazz is cute, but let’s not pretend it’s profound. Every choice has a cost, sure. But traditions aren’t just random habits hanging around for lack of imagination. They’re the battle-hardened veterans of cultural evolution. They've been dragged through the mud, shot at, patched up, and kept marching while your shiny new ideologies are still in boot camp, breaking a sweat over basic training.
Yes, duty to the past comes at the cost of moving on. Moving on to what, exactly? A utopia you haven’t mapped out yet? Spare me. We’ve seen where the "move on at all costs" crowd ends up—usually in the same ditch where yesterday’s progressives thought they built the future. And “telling others which utopia to love”? Who’s doing that? Tradition doesn’t force you to love it—it’s just there, patiently waiting for your bright idea to break its own neck.
So, no, I’m not mad. I’m just standing on solid ground while you’re out there trying to plant your flag in a mirage. The past isn’t some ancient tyrant demanding tribute—it’s the proven method for not reinventing the wheel every Tuesday. Go ahead and blaze a new trail if you must, but don’t be surprised when the ground gives way. Tradition’s still here, not because it’s immortal, but because it works.

2025-03-31 19:48:06 GMT

- reply

You know, it’s cute how you’re railing against tradition like it’s some stubborn old man refusing to get with the times. But here’s the plot twist: tradition is the result of the scientific method. Yeah, let that sink in.
Think about it. Tradition didn’t just appear out of nowhere, fully formed, because a bunch of people got sentimental about how Grandpa did things. It’s the culmination of centuries of trial and error, a living record of what works because it survived a relentless process of real-world testing. People tried different ways of living, organizing, governing, and just being human. Most of it failed. What didn’t fail became tradition.
What you’re really mad about is that tradition doesn’t move at the speed of your impatience. Sorry, but just like in science, real progress doesn’t care about your timetable. You’re not mad at tradition—you’re mad that it won’t bend over backwards for every unproven, flashy idea that comes along.
In other words, you’re arguing that we should ditch the conclusions of the longest-running social experiment humanity has ever conducted just because you’re bored. That’s not progress—that’s ignoring the results because they’re inconvenient. Tradition is science that passed the test. You’re just annoyed that the answers aren’t new enough for your taste.

2025-03-31 01:23:48 GMT

- reply

The problem with the modern disdain for tradition is not that it wishes to innovate, but that it wishes to innovate while sawing off the very branch upon which it sits. It is not tradition that stifles innovation but the man who mistakes rebellion for progress and recklessness for creativity.
Tradition is the innovator's oldest friend.

I know this guy's type, convinced the world is falling apart because of some grand, disciplined scheme to destabilize society and hand power to a chosen few.
He has it totally backwards. Chaos doesn’t need a mastermind. It’s woven into the human story, like weeds through cracked stone. Entropy doesn’t plan. It just happens. Effortless and constant. The urge to tear down, to rebel, to destroy... it comes as naturally as breathing.
But holding civilization together—that’s where the real struggle lies. It’s the uphill fight, the push against the tide. It takes grit, determination, and the stubborn will to resist the pull of disorder. It takes planning. It takes convincing and pleading and leading and doing. Civilization endures because enough people choose discipline over decay, pushing back against the easy slide into chaos. Real order doesn’t come from the top down. It grows from men who purposefully cling to old ways that kept the world upright, forged not by force, but by the hard-won wisdom of generations. You want to see planners, look to civilization.

Austrian economics doesn’t offer a model for society or a set of policies to implement. It’s not prescriptive; it’s descriptive. It explains how markets function, how prices emerge, and how individuals act—it doesn’t tell anyone what should be done.
You can’t advocate for ‘Austrian policies’ any more than you can advocate for ‘gravity policies.’ Austrian economics isn’t a plan for governance; it’s a framework for understanding economic reality. The market isn’t something to be designed or controlled—it’s something to be understood.

the world is not run by laws

laws are lines on paper
brittle as the hands that write them
but an oath is a weight in the chest
a choice (a chain) a vow (a wing)
the modern world mistrusts the hush
believes truth must shout to be true
but some things are too great for noise
some fires burn best unseen
the law draws its little circles

There are men who win power, and there are men who win minds. The former we call politicians, the latter we call prophets. Ron Paul was never meant to be the former, but it is to him that we owe the latter. He did not merely run for office; he ran a revolution. He did not merely campaign; he catechized. And though the world, in its usual dullness, dismissed him as a curiosity, it is his ideas that now stand at the very center of the public square, roaring where once they only whispered.
Before Ron Paul, the state was an inevitability, its sprawling presence accepted like the weather. After Ron Paul, it became a question—a suspicion—a problem to be solved. Before Ron Paul, the only political argument was how best to manage the machine. After Ron Paul, men began to ask whether the machine should exist at all. It was not a matter of electoral success, but of intellectual conquest. He did not seize the presidency, but he shook the very ground upon which presidents stand.
And now, in the great and bizarre theater of history, it is Trump—not the philosopher, not the scholar, not the man of letters—who finds himself wielding the wrecking ball that Paul first hoisted into the air. The appetite for upheaval, the rage against the ruling class, the righteous impatience with bureaucracy—all of it was first kindled by a quiet doctor from Texas, before it was ever shouted by a tycoon from Manhattan. The former planted the flag, the latter carries it forward. And though I am, by habit, skeptical of all things governmental, I cannot deny the fact that we are closer now to the fulfillment of Paul’s vision than at any moment in modern memory.
Governments are still prone to tyranny, power is still prone to corruption, and I have no illusions that this grand movement cannot itself be swallowed by the very forces it opposes. But if the walls of Leviathan are to crumble, let us at least give due thanks to the man who first pointed out that they were made of sand. Thank you, Dr. Paul.

The Man Who Counted True
In days of kings and cloistered scribes,
Where wealth was weight and debt was bribes,
A man stood up with steady hand,
And counted true, despite command.
He was no lord, nor prince, nor knight,
No keeper of the ledger’s right,
Yet numbers danced beneath his gaze,
Unmoved by courts, untouched by praise.
His father taught, as fathers do,
That wealth is not what men construe,
Not writ in ink on royal scrolls,
Nor sealed within the banker’s folds.
A coin is true when hands agree,
A weight is right when scales are free.
No edict makes the tally grow,
No scepter tells the grain to flow.
Yet law had learned a darker art—
To weave the world with paper’s heart.
The king decreed, the bishops swore,
That worth was theirs, and theirs alone.
They taxed the poor, they clipped the scales,
They turned the debts to iron jails,
And any man who dared protest,
Would find his name and home possessed.
But still he counted, still he weighed,
Through shifting laws and debts delayed.
He whispered sums in tavern halls,
And scratched his mark on cellar walls.
They mocked him first, then called him mad,
Then struck him down with verdicts clad.
They took his home, they seized his land,
Yet numbers slipped through every hand.
For in the dark, his work took flight,
It flickered through the silent night.
And every man who held it fast,
Knew wealth was free, and free at last.
The lords declared, "This cannot stand!
The world must kneel to our command!"
But still it moved, from hand to hand,
Beyond the reach of law and land.
They sent their spies, they burned their fires,
They drowned dissent in dungeons dire.
Yet every torch that scorched his name
Lit up a hundred more the same.
And though he fell, as martyrs do,
His numbers lived, his ledgers grew.
No king could break, no thief undo—
The man had taught the world what’s true.

For all its power, generative AI does not think—it predicts. It does not reason—it reflects. And it does not discern—it merely magnifies. When fed flawed assumptions, it will not hesitate to scale them into towering mistakes with unshakable confidence.
And that is its greatest gift to us.
Because failure has always been the foundation of wisdom. The slow, stumbling errors of history have cost civilizations centuries. But AI—relentless, unblinking, unburdened by ego—will condense those lessons into mere moments. It will not spare us from mistakes, but it will spare us from making them slowly.
The question is not whether AI will lead us astray. It will. Repeatedly. Spectacularly. But in doing so, it will force us to confront truth faster than ever before. It will demand of us a new agility—not just in innovation, but in correction. The future will belong not to those who avoid mistakes, but to those who recover from them at speed.
This is not the age of blind faith in machines. It is the age of human mastery over them. And the faster we fail, the faster we learn.

And that, I confess, is an impossibility, for everything else is either the rickety scaffolding of a failing empire or the tinkering of men who mistake their own bureaucratic brilliance for divine intervention.
If Bitcoin fails to maintain its sacred, node-driven decentralization, then we are not merely back to square one—we are back to the Tower of Babel, where every man must once again barter in the dialect of his captors.
For it is not merely that Bitcoin is the best hope—it is the only thing that is not hopeless. Everything else is mere theater: fiat is fraud, altcoins are alchemy, and central banking is that most absurd of superstitions, the belief that printing wealth can make men richer.
So if Bitcoin falls, then there is only one option left: to laugh at the absurdity of civilization, to drink deep from the goblet of irony, and to play the world’s most wretched game—the fiat casino—where the dice are loaded, the house always wins, and the chips are nothing more than elaborate promises from liars.
But I do not think Bitcoin will fail. No, I think it will stand—not because men are wise, but because they are foolish enough to try everything else first.

I will not surrender to this narrowing of the soul. I will be strong because my children depend on it. I will be learned because my ancestors demand it. And I will seek the face of God, not in the dry and dusty corridors of modern theology, but in the wild and wonderful places where He has always dwelt—in the storm on the sea, in the hush of the forest, in the quiet and stubborn faith of a man who refuses to kneel to anything but the Almighty.

What was in the water in Austria in the first quarter of the 20th century?

I do not believe in the modern notion that children are best raised by experts, nor in the even madder notion that education is a thing that happens in fluorescent-lit rooms under the careful supervision of bureaucrats. A child should be raised at his father’s knee, and educated under his mother’s eye, and taught to read not from textbooks but from old, dangerous, wonderful books filled with pirates and poets and saints and soldiers.

A man who does not govern his own house is not fit to govern anything. He may cast votes and pass laws, he may write essays and deliver speeches, but if he cannot keep his word to his wife or his patience with his children, he is an unconvincing ruler of anything larger than a vegetable garden.

The family is the first and greatest rebellion against tyranny. It is the only institution older than kings, and the only institution which does not apologize for itself. Governments may rise and fall, laws may be written and rewritten, but the law of a father in his home is more ancient than Hammurabi and more enduring than Rome.

The story of Christ is not merely a tale among tales—it is the one tale so magnificent that, if it be true at all, it must be the very heart of all reality. And if it were false or mere allegory, then reality itself would be a drab and broken thing, unfit for the soul of man.
The Christian does not merely believe in Christ; he wagers his whole life upon Him. He embraces the paradox, the grand defiance of a world that scoffs at mystery, and walks with joyful defiance through the valley of doubt, because to do otherwise—to cast off the Incarnation, the Resurrection, the great romance of the Gospel—would be to exile oneself into a wasteland of meaninglessness. Faith is not the absence of doubt; it is the refusal to let doubt rule. It is to choose to live in a world where Jesus Christ and his story actually happened, because it is so good and so beautiful that you refuse to live in a universe where it didn't happen. To call oneself Christian is to courageously live as though the world is enchanted.

A man who wishes to be free must first understand what freedom is. He must love it, as a child loves a storybook, as a knight loves his sword, as a sailor loves the open sea. And because he loves it, he must be prepared to defend it—not in the tired jargon of the progressive, who is forever demanding a new and more fashionable sort of slavery, but in the ancient and romantic sense of one who stands at the gate with sword in hand.

It is the great error of modernity to assume that because something is old, it is wrong; that because something is customary, it is corrupt; and that because something is beautiful, it is impractical. The world, like an ill-tempered clerk, has mistaken rebellion for reason, and has set itself to the tiresome work of tearing down what it neither understands nor appreciates.

And now you see why Christianity builds civilization. It does not begin with certainty; it begins with doubt. It does not wait for perfect knowledge; it demands movement.
You have two choices:
1. To act as if that which you doubt is true.
2. To not act at all.
And here is the paradox: doubt is not the opposite of faith. It is the very thing that makes faith possible. A man who waits for absolute proof before stepping forward will never move. But a man who moves, even in doubt, proves something far greater—that truth is not merely something we observe, but something we create by the way we live.
So live as if it is true—not because you have been convinced beyond all doubt, but because you know that, if it were true, it would be the only thing worth living for. And in the end, you will find that the man who acts as if Christianity is true has done something far more important than proving it. He has made it real.

The modern world has not lost its voice, only its spine. After twenty years of genuflecting to victimhood, even good men have forgotten how to speak plainly—first to others, then to themselves. A world without honest words soon becomes a world without honest thoughts.

What if I told you that digital scarcity—the foundation of Bitcoin—is a singular invention, one that can never be repeated?
Bitcoin is the only true instance of digital scarcity. Any claim to reinvent it undermines the very concept itself. Let me explain.
Digital scarcity means creating something in the digital realm that cannot be duplicated or counterfeited. Before Bitcoin, this was impossible. Anything digital—files, assets, or data—could be copied endlessly. Satoshi Nakamoto solved this problem by combining cryptography, decentralization, and a proof-of-work consensus mechanism. The result was the Bitcoin network: a system that ensures Bitcoin cannot be duplicated, inflated, or forged. For the first time, something digital was truly scarce.
Now, here's where things get interesting. Other projects and assets claim to have reinvented digital scarcity. But this idea contains a fatal contradiction: if digital scarcity can be reinvented, then it was never truly scarce to begin with. Scarcity, by definition, cannot be reproducible. If it were, it would cease to be scarce.
This leads to one unavoidable conclusion: Bitcoin is not just the first digital scarcity; it is the only digital scarcity. Every imitator depends on the axiom that digital scarcity is repeatable, which undermines their entire premise.
Bitcoin's uniqueness is absolute. It stands alone—immutable, singular, and irreplaceable. Digital scarcity was invented once. It cannot be reinvented.
So, the next time someone claims they've created "the next Bitcoin," ask yourself: can true scarcity ever be recreated?
