an Apple owned FOSS project that has non Apple managed forks is about the best possible scenario I can conjure up.
Firefox is an enormous project and needs really active developement to improve security and containerisation while never falling behind in working on sites across the web.
Mozilla is unlikely to be equipped to continue Firefox at the standard we need. It needs a benevolant dictator like a Shuttleworth if not a less free corporate reimagining

The impacts of this on the GNU/Linux operating system are at least spiritually significant
Forgive the naïvety as to how FOSS ownership & development works — but could Apple buy Firefox? They seem to be the org big enough that at least shares some of its values. and safari stinks
But then Apple has a hate—hate relationship with free & open source ; perhaps they can learn that Microsoft has managed to do very well out of its "closer" connection to FOSS

As a Non-American I'm way out of lane here, so I have zero reliability in this particular debate
But don't you either have guns available or you don't (USA upholds the right to have guns)
The point of prison is punishment - not protection. The punishment is a restriction of freedom, which necessarily includes the right to have guns. But if you are not in prison, trying to have guns for some, none for others seems impossible.
Also notably most of these guys commited assault & battery while caught up in a mob mentality - none were sentenced for how they used guns

the question for the guilty shouldnt be what was wrong - its what was worth 4 years.
It does appear that plenty got <12 months time served and that trump mightve been thinking of them when he pardoned the more severe ones.
I agree with the pardons for non-violent offenders of "seditious conspiracy" - whatever that is supposed to mean — but it is a dark hour when violent criminals get released.
I suspect this is trump acting in vendetta for all the ridiculous overplaying of the day that the democrats made over the last four years. And that in itself is worrying

Life sentences are reserved for crimes that ruin lives, ie. multiple manslaughter, Dempsey appears to be the only one thats anywhere near, but it depends on the injuries afflicted
