Early entrants list for #CSW24 has three unrated players, I wonder if they chose the expanded world lexicon to evade requisite membership in WGPO. I wonder if they know how much larger CSW24 list is.
I'm playing #WOW24 but I might transfer to #CSW24 if enough locals play it. Wonder where to get a Collins Word List print book in my pocket of North America. #Scrabble

Watching #WordCup (correct spelling) stream with #WOW24 (WGPO) and #CSW24 (CoCo) lexica (wordlists for grown-ups). Checking words in my Hoot for Android app, I discover a wordlist of Deleted Slurs, some of Canadian origin, good in WGPO.
Not listing any here, but one is a past tense of French verb 'vendre', another is a UZsola brand that Joan Crawford used to promote.
WGPO has benefits of free membership and core value of accessibility accommodations for visually & mobility impaired.

Thank you St. Therese of Lisieux, St. Expedite, St. Anthony, and Praise God for saving my financial skin on Tuesday.
Brought to us by Psalm 49, which appeared four times as signs in my dream hours before my deliverance. My panic consumed me so much I was spent at 16h30. First time I dreamed of a Bible Book and Chapter as well.
I may reprise this when I know two people have been cured of their ailments, or when I pay in full for my new house.

German-language account applications giving "AI video content aggregation discussion" slop reason have email domains of XXX NSFW websites
Questions:
Do these bots swarm the top 50 Mastodon instances?
Why are they not configured to apply to automatic account registration instances?
Is the time waste the aim?

@nprofile…qk9d gradual accumulation of Vitamin D3 with daily doses is the way to go. The autumnal equinox approaches.
Calcium and magnesium are needed with Vitamin D3. E.g. if one takes 5000IU Vit D3, 600mg calcium to 400mg magnesium prevents muscle cramps. Lots of people deficient in magnesium

@nprofile…pdwz for me French is an asset.
When my brother died in Japan I flew there to be with his family. The Catholic funeral mass was performed in Japanese and in Latin, the latter for my benefit as the priest gathered that as a European-ancestry Canadian I would know French, and would glean a Romance language.

2025-08-21 17:32:58 GMT

- reply

@nprofile…pdwz The French colonized Canada before the English did and had a headstart on populating it. It is expected of a fifth-generation Canadian to know French or a foreign language.
A couple from Bretagne visited 3 years ago. Husband knew English, wife did not. American who knew French also attended. I greeted the wife with 'bienvenue!' And talked with her for 15 minutes. She exclaimed she understood everything I said. I felt bad as I didn't hear my compatriots speak French at all.

2025-08-21 17:17:31 GMT

@nprofile…pdwz I live in a bilingual nation that mandated 11 years of second-langvuage instruction, that accounts for one language. The other I took at University for a year.

@nprofile…pdwz i speak as much French as I can when the European French-speaking geocachers visit. With European German-speakers I begin by joking, in German, I understand no German. Then I joke I understand fifteen words only, then increase the count as I speak. I love it when I say something in their language and their eyes spark, like their heating system just turned on.
Some even ask if I am German, despite my North American accent.
I would learn more if I had Germans here to chat with.

2025-08-21 04:08:52 GMT

I love how a vocabulary of 15 to 20 common words in another language can make visitors feel friendly and welcome.

@nprofile…hpul I want a stream of chill music for powering down my mind before sleep, music I don't store on a device. I don't have any usb-friendly device in my bedroom, which is where I sleep.
I found on a commercialized, centralized, tracking-happy social media platform an answer to my question.

2025-07-03 18:43:33 GMT

Watched a five-minute video on reducing tracking on Android. I learned of five default settings I toggled to 'off', and if the narrator was truthful, turning off these settings preserves the battery.
I already made Privacy and Security adjustments the day I got my phone but was not comprehensive.
I now turn off my phone unless I want to make or receive a call or use an app. My friends are smart but not as aware/cautious/paranoid as I, so I turn off my phone when we meet to eat and chat too.

No answers yet. Hard to believe I am the only one wanting sonic barbiturates or who listens to mellow music; this platform makes me feel alone at times even though I post in a widely used language.
Am I 'limited'? Are my artists and genres on many filter lists? Is listening to streams out of vogue?

2025-07-03 05:30:29 GMT

Another online music request:
This August is the centenary of #montreal-born #jazz pianist #OscarPeterson. What #Canadian radio #online streams and archived shows are most likely to commemorate M. Peterson's anniversaire?

2025-07-03 05:16:53 GMT

Since "Toute en Musique" hosted by Marie-Christine Poitier went on summer hiatus, and "Rêveries" hosted by Julie-Christine Parent became inaccessible through Android devices due to #Ohdio app engineering changes, I am in need of "Sonic Barbiturates" online radio streams along the lines of BBC Radio 3 #NightTracks (e.g. #CosmoSheldrake, #Eluvium, #ErikSatie #NilsFrahm, #Chopin #Debussy #ChillyGonzales, #StarsoftheLid, #CarolineShaw) #ambientMusic #minimalism #classicalmusic #lullabies

Just discovered #VintageObscura music https://vintageobscura.net/
The #wfmu summer schedule and briefer hiatuses have me adding in my #BulketJournal five archived programs and nine shows' earlier playlists

Reading both _Dorothy Parker in Hollywood_ and _Huxley in Hollywood_: these people paid $$$ to write for movies did not like movies! I understand Huxley, he was close to blind (and assigned to scripting a Mr. Magoo cartoon), and an 'ultraintellectual', and now I feel like a lowbrow.
Apparently in 1938 Huxley hung out with the Edwin Hubbles and Anita Loos, and only one actor and his 'wife'/domestic companion (Loos:'we limited company to those with wit and intelligence' - you can guess the duo).

#AmReading _Aldous Huxley in Hollywood_. I enjoyed this vignette from #AnitaLoos about #AldousHuxley, with a dining companion's handwriting sample, visiting a graphologist to test her:

1. The hapless, thieving vicar was demoted to curate.
2. The Messaien festival was curated by Jean-Philippe Trichet.

@nprofile…hpul yes, they are synonyms, no need for one word to be overused when synonyms exist, especially in online retail:
"Our raspberry slop is curated..."
"Our corncob pipe collection is handcrafted [another blech, cmon, DQ softserve is 'handcrafted'] and specially curated..." corncobs are collected works just fine.
I need to be more SELECTive i what I read and collect for feeds. I surely am not 'curating' content.

Doesn't anyone select, collect, arrange these days? 'Curated' is a trite turnoff outside of an art gallery or museum.
