I wonder where Narnia falls on the timeline of this type of fantasy genre.
I'm assuming it is one of the earlier versions of this type of modern fantasy novel along with Lord of the Rings.
I think both can be true. It's possible Lewis (author of a few tedious and academic books) was not the best fantasy story teller, but his books are also wonderful and beloved stories.
