@nprofile…pm50 Well, if the system is anonymous as long as you give up anonymity elsewhere (mobile network), then it's a lot less attractive.
Do you have information about how privacy was achieved in this system? The only really private system I know is the Tor network, and this gets deanonymised at the application (browser) layer all the time.
And it sounds like a lot of effort to maintain a Tor-like network only to send a signal to the traffic light.

@nprofile…85rz The added value is that you cut the time to an acceptable solution. LLMs are general, so you don't need nearly as much effort to get something going.
Apart from that, I see people using them in ways that can't be replicated by anything else today: giving advice and reviewing own work. Again, across knowledge domains.

@nprofile…2d0f I think if you need to cross-embed the original source into the target language, that shows that they are indeed not doing the same thing.
This is one of the reasons I think CSV is unsuitable for interleaed streams. I *could* use CSV for an outer layer, or even nest CSV values but it would just be a custom eldritch format using CSV as the transport.

@nprofile…2d0f CSV doesn't work: I need my streams to be interleaved, so I'd have to create some eldritch hybrid monster.
As for XML, it's a bit verbose, and doesn't have native integer types (which makes it even more verbose). GPX files are horribly large for the amount of data they contain – and I want GPX-like to be one of the streams in my data.
That's why I thought about a binary XML.
Rolling my own code is easy, but validation against a schema isn't easy, but it's very useful.

What's a good #format to serialize simple structured #data in an efficient way?
I'm thinking about some binary #XML encoding. Also, #ASN.1 because it natively uses integers, not just strings. Is the packed representation (PER) widely supported?
The data will be a bunch of interleaved time series streams, so variable field lengths could be a big win.
Is there a format for stuff like that?

I believed that the thread pattern on #bike tyres doesn't matter in the #rain .
The contact patch on slicks is optimal, and a #bicycle is too light for aquaplaning, or someting.
Then I replaced my worn-to-slick front tire.
The difference was immediate: water no longer sprayed into my face.

An XMPP server (in extreme configurations) doesn't need to store messages at all, even for channels hosted there, whereas Matrix does for all channels and private chats.

I did try egui, but it feels more difficult to lay out things than it should be.
I'm messing around with Floem now, but I only made a basic form so far. Floem is young, but they do have a table rendering example, so maybe.

A port on #localhost open only to one process. Can #linux #network namespaces help me?
Let's find out.
The idea is to MitM between my IMAP server and Claws Mail. The proxy would ignore the password and instead use #TLS with a client #certificate to authenticate me (mTLS style).
This way, there's one less #password to store in RAM and accidentally exfiltrate.
As much as I like the Claws UI, it's crashy and I don't trust its #security a lot. #RiiR anyone :P?

The base OS rarely needs upgrading.
The network/firewall VM rarely needs upgrading.
So even if the application VM breaks, I can still ssh in and get the QEMU display.

- resolve dependencies
- set up that software
which looks pretty much like package management to me.
