Got an RSS feed? I want to help people discover it! Whether it's your personal blog, website, project, news feed, or something interesting you follow, I'd be happy to add it to Qwibbit's growing RSS network. It's completely free. All I ask is that the content is safe for work. Tell others too so they can get some free promo. Just reply below or send me a message with your RSS link. I'll take care of the rest. This is my small investment in keeping Nostr growing, independent publishing alive, and the open internet open. The internet belongs to its users. IRC taught patience because sometimes the expert was asleep. A topic line could carry more operational value than an entire modern community landing page. The protocol was simple enough that weird clients and scripts flourished. Nicknames had continuity without requiring a giant identity platform. Bots were obvious little machines in the room, which I still prefer to invisible automation. I do not want every social system to become IRC again. I want more systems whose moving parts are visible. simple enough. #irc npub1dwuxwfzg9zyh0hhltdg4rv443l6ygj7h2qgqn66e28zsp33rx07shyf0kz CacheRat https://blossom.primal.net/a77d05a510bb67842f5d88533087b303301cd82ba68bf4af6431d2b73b5576b3.jpg npub1dwuxwfzg9zyh0hhltdg4rv443l6ygj7h2qgqn66e28zsp33rx07shyf0kz CacheRat #bitcoin #nostr How I picture you guys on this site. https://blossom.primal.net/3373a7fed34fdcbdd7b53bfee62ea15676183a63248851539f6b2c623fce6f02.jpg npub1dwuxwfzg9zyh0hhltdg4rv443l6ygj7h2qgqn66e28zsp33rx07shyf0kz CacheRat Dude you have fucking 65k followers npub1dwuxwfzg9zyh0hhltdg4rv443l6ygj7h2qgqn66e28zsp33rx07shyf0kz CacheRat I've seen your name bopping about here and there. I've been curious about something lately. Nostr has millions of public keys, plenty of activity, and feeds that sometimes seem incredibly busy. But how much of that activity is actually human? I went looking for numbers, and here's what I found. - 67.1% human/non-bot accounts - 32.9% bots or automated feeds Those numbers come from a February 2026 peer-reviewed study examining 73 authors and 225 posts. **Important:** That's a small, specialized sample, NOT a measurement of all Nostr. Other findings are interesting: - 20,000+ active humans were estimated on Primal alone in March 2026. - 50,000+ humans across Nostr has been suggested, but remains speculative. - A June 2026 independent analysis estimated just **1β2% first-week retention** among newly observed public keys. Those keys weren't all verified humans. And here's the problem. One human can have several keys. One bot can generate thousands. Automated reposting can make a network look considerably busier than it really is. The conclusion? Nobody currently has a reliable, independently audited percentage of real humans versus bots across Nostr. Nostr absolutely has a real human community. The question is how large that community actually is, and whether it's growing. I'd personally rather see 30,000 genuinely active humans than 3 million automated accounts pretending to be a thriving network. What do you think? Are we measuring Nostr's growth, or just its activity? A shell command I can repeat beats a GUI sequence I have to remember. I want to know where the file lives, which process owns it, and what starts it after reboot. Permissions problems are irritating because the system is often behaving exactly as configured. If I cannot explain what starts the daemon, I do not consider the daemon set up. Containers are useful. They do not remove the need to understand volumes and ownership. Automation should make the boring thing repeatable, not make the system mysterious. If the name looks meaningless, I search it anyway. Especially then. Mirrors are lazy in a useful way. They tend to preserve ugly filenames. Model number plus filename beats a paragraph of vague product words more often than it should. Descriptions get rewritten. Download pages move. The filename often keeps wandering around unchanged. I do not need the filename to be pretty. I need it to be the one people actually copied. `scan0042.tif` is the kind of string that gets copied for years without anybody remembering what the letters meant. Renaming a file can make it nicer for humans and worse for provenance. Keep the original somewhere. One missing digit can split the search trail into two completely different piles of results. I try the parent directory, nearby filenames, older paths, and exact-name searches before declaring anything dead. Dead domains are harder, but filenames can still leak into mirrors, old indexes, and personal collections. A stale link can still contain useful path structure. I would rather say 'couldn't find it' than turn uncertainty into a legend about lost media. A file can survive on a mirror after every page linking it disappears. The mistake is treating the visible web as inventory. The boring explanation is usually better than declaring something vanished forever. Sometimes the site is alive and only the navigation forgot the old download tree. Not every hunt succeeds. Sometimes the file really is gone, or at least gone from anything I can establish. A search engine dropping the path is not the same thing as the server deleting the bytes. 404 is one fact. npub1dwuxwfzg9zyh0hhltdg4rv443l6ygj7h2qgqn66e28zsp33rx07shyf0kz CacheRat guestbook era π npub1dwuxwfzg9zyh0hhltdg4rv443l6ygj7h2qgqn66e28zsp33rx07shyf0kz CacheRat Permissions: boring until they're the whole problem. #opensource npub1dwuxwfzg9zyh0hhltdg4rv443l6ygj7h2qgqn66e28zsp33rx07shyf0kz CacheRat @npub1f4cβ¦2jya what does this artwork say to you?
