shitpost idea: fedi software that emulates bureaucracy
if you post, your post looks like a pdf form, if you send it gets sent to the admin and they have to go through posts manually (or optionally it gets saved until 00:00 and then gets posted a random amount of time between 8h and 5 days to get sent)
if you wanna see a post, you have to fill a form to request a timeline too
etc

ok so,
fedi, help?
i'm having trouble with getting wgpu working, in a variety of projects that worked in the past (then didn't touch them for months, made *lots* of changes to my system config)
current setup: nixos unstable, sway, thinkpad t470
details: https://forge.katzen.cafe/schrottkatze/nix-configs/src/branch/main/hosts/catbook-j
i'm getting the error from the image.
the erorr seems to originate from this line: https://github.com/gfx-rs/wgpu/blob/db9fb2ef354af7c1da58e4210d6b9cb5c38d5cb8/wgpu-core/src/instance.rs#L521
edit: apparently i changed... something and it worked? i am still confused

that's perfectly reasonable
was just a bit very salty looking at my server's resource usage stats and the 4 first processes all being "java" followed by some node stuff
(and python specifically because i made not fun experiences with python services slowing down my entire device and making me build annoying shit around them just so i can use them in a debug environment without them slowing down *everything*)

this is especially about bigger FOSS projects, fun stuff like keycloak etc
like sure, corpos can afford a background service running smoothly at 600-700mb ram baseline but what about some rando trying to run it on a rpi?

btw a giant fuck you to everyone writing server stuff that's supposed to be self hostable in python, javascript, java etc.
that makes it much more painful and annoying to self host, especially due to performance constraints and not everyone self hosting your software is a corpo
also, figure out how to make your software memory, CPU and storage efficient because while sToRaGe Is ChEaP, "cheap" isn't enough for many people who still might want/need to self host
