idea: there could be a social mechanism where users can confirm that they know the person and consider them to be ‘real’.
For example jb55 and jack sent a confirmation event that given pubkey is ‘authentic/verified’. Could be picked up by client to show a proper badge (if you follow jack or jb55)

Wow, this sounds quite awesome. I was not aware that it’s possible to do anything custom using the lightning network. Could this be adopted for LND too? I’m guessing c-lightning exposes some special apis via ln?

#[0] what’s you take on comparing twitter to a town square? While sounds aspirational and lofty it seems that it’s technically impossible as it’s owned by a company (that has both ‘opinions’ and legal obligations) and is a product. Twitter would have to become a protocol instead which does not seem possible at this point - might be ready to join Nostr in the future tho ;-)

another idea to the mix: if some clients/apps monetize usage they could also tip the relays. Or maybe at some point the beefy relays should require payment for sending stuff through them

BTW I mentioned this somewhere already but seems that it got lost. Would be great to start thinking about 'perf/health metrics' per relay so they just don't simply die randomly and know a bit more about their own state rather than slowing to crawl.
