Really disappointed in Biden today. Believe given climate crisis we should be doing everything we can, including buying inexpensive EVs from China, to hasten the transition from carbon based fuels.
That said, certainly international relations are complex and we don't have all the information or know all the constraints he is wrestling with.

Cohen today said it was Melania's idea to spin the Access Hollywood tape as "locker room talk." Really simple thead about Trump's Truth Social (DJT) stock. Don't get too worried about the fact that he will ON PAPER have another billion dollars tomorrow. It's just "monopoly money."
Back to basics. Stocks are shares in a company. They are sold in a market, the stock market ie. NASDAQ. For any transaction there has to be a seller and a buyer. Right now there are very few shares of DJT that are tradeable because Trump and other "founders" can't trade them yet.

So, Trump got his $175M bond for the NY fraud appeal. Not so fast...
Short version: NY first denied Trump's bond because Knight, the bond company, didn't file proof of collateral. Knight amended the bond filing, but NY's AG filed a "notice of rejection" asserting the bond does not meet NY requirements. A hearing on the matter is scheduled for April 22. Also, the bank owned by the same guy has loaned Trump $225M. 👀

Apologies for the all the rapid fire posts concerning the Trump NY bond today, but fascinating developments.
Short version: NY rejected Trump's bond because Knight, the bond company, didn't file proof of collateral. Knight today amended the bond filing to include some sort of financial assurances. In the last couple days we have seen two excellent examples of the use of semantics to obscure meaning and generate deniability.
The "bloodbath" comments were not taken "out of context", and the generally accepted definition of rape certainly includes forcing his fingers inside a woman, aka digital penetration. When media repeats these misleading claims without clearly debunking them as false distinctions, and does not call him out for his deceptions, they assist his disinformation tactics.

Absolutely. This is intentional. Right now they are mime shifting from "Biden is too old" to "Both of them are terrible". This will appear in various forms and is likely pushed primarily by Russian military disinformation operations, although the New York Times and other US media will dutifully amplify it. Judge Kaplan is giving E. Jean Carroll until Monday 3/11 to object to the "surety" of the bond.
A bond is a loan. It needs to be backed up by sufficient funds. If not, there is a risk of default, like any other bond. It will be interesting to see if Ms. Carroll is satisfied with the surety of her rapist's bond.

Careful about using this decision to dump on the Supreme Court. There are plenty of legitimate concerns about this court, but today's ruling may not be a prime example.
For one thing, it was a unanimous ruling. The liberal justices concurred, even though they split on certain aspects of the ruling. This was going to happen.
Importantly, the court did not rule on whether Trump engaged in insurrection. Colorado determined he did. We all saw his mob. People died. It's our job to judge him.

Importantly, the SCOTUS ruling is about the states authority to bar Trump. It says noting about whether Trump engaged in insurrection. It would seem that the Colorado court's determination that he did stands.

To be clear. Landing on the moon is a very complex task, and no one wants these missions to fail. But in turning over so much of space exploration to private companies, we need to be aware that private enterprise deals very differently with information dissemination. It is not like the transparency we have become accustom to with government run missions.
This is not a good thing. Particularly when the missions, as this one was, are largely funded by NASA.

So, private companies in the space business 🤷. Thursday a Texas based company called Intuitive Machines landed a on the moon. It did not go smoothly. The live feed was abruptly halted. It was unclear what happened. Then the company said they were getting a faint signal. People speculated the spacecraft had tipped over. Hours later the company announced it was upright! Friday their stock jumped wildly, but after the market closed, they held a press conference, and said it had tipped over.🤔

Edit: However something is wrong. The communications signal from the lander us very faint. There is some speculation (unverified) that the lander has tipped over. Will update when more is known.

And the New York Times leads the pack. It is fine to say "political press" and that does cover all of them, but the New York Times is the leader of pack and they are setting the tone. They eagerly slurp up Russian disinformation and amplify it 1000 times. Rather that safeguarding the US from these foreign disinformation attacks, they are delivering the payloads and deliberately misleading American public using Russian military grade disinformation.

Now we are learning that SpaceX has to "deorbit" 100 of these little monsters because they are starting to lose control.
Also, that 17 of them are already "non-maneuverable", making them a significant threat to a Kessler cascade event, and nothing anyone can do about it (https://qz.com/spacex-starlink-satellites-orbit-1851253932).
Still, SpaceX continues to throw thousands of these dangerous objects into low earth orbit.
This is madness.

So it begins. Critics like astronomer Prof. Sam Lawler @npub1uw8…88kr have been calling attention the many horrible aspects of Elon Musk's SpaceX Starlink system (https://theconversation.com/an-astronomers-lament-satellite-megaconstellations-are-ruining-space-exploration-215653).
Perhaps the greatest threat is for a Kessler Syndrome event, wherein these terrible little satellites, lose control and start smashing into each other, creating a cascade of destruction that closes off space for generations.

One of Google's Waymo robot cars got a hot reception in San Francisco last night.
"A fully autonomous Waymo vehicle was navigating on Jackson Street in San Francisco when a crowd surrounded and vandalized the vehicle, breaking the window and throwing a firework inside, which set the vehicle on fire. The vehicle was not transporting any riders and no injuries have been reported."
