Yes, and many countries with devastated economy with inflation are using Bitcoins too, and this experiment very much works.
But, I'm talking about BULK of the transactions on Bitcoins and Shitcoins. Even many early maxi-bitcoiners who talk about orange pilling and bitcoin adaption, still use Bitcoins just as a store of value/ investment opportunity since it's better than keeping FIAT idle in banks. But at the end of the day, again it's for riches, not poors.
This came to my mind after reading all the past and ongoing crypto scams like FTX and all.

BTC a game only for rich people
I see lot of people from UK/ European countries into Bitcoins. Those from disadvantaged countries, who do 9-5 jobs 7 days a week and get paid 150 USD per month, neither can afford for think about buying Bitcoins nor can take risks to put their life's money in Bitcoins, cuz they save for major health emergencies and stuff, which are mostly dealt with FIAT even today.
Knowledge and understanding self-sovereignty is not enough to be a Bitcoiner, where you come from is an important criteria too.

Every single messenger app looks same these days. They almost all offer stories, video/audio calls, profiles etc.
Self-destructing stories in my opinion started with Snapchat stories, then Insta, Whatsapp after being bought by Meta, and now appears in Facebook's Messenger too alongwith web Facebook interface.
Similarly, so called shorts/vines started and then caught up with TikTok, and now it's everywhere from Youtube shorts, to Insta shorts, and now I guess Twitter is going similar way too.
WhatsApp recently released a feature where we can follow and see stories of the celebs. I don't want to see celebs on my messaging app. If i want to follow, I will do that on any of their public handles like Twitter or Insta, NOT ON my WhatsApp. How hard is this thing to understand to people running these companies, making their apps BULKIER, SPAMMY and BUGGY, limiting their userbase and downgrading their real UTILITY by each update.
Insta was sick for sharing photos, before meta's takeover
Facebook was by far the easiest way to connect to lost old friends. You could have just searched by name without fear of being tracked.
Youtube was the way to see genuine videos, without people click baiting you for monetization.
Similarly, Whatsapp was the best way to say goodbye to carrier messaging. It retired leading services like Viber/Skype when it added video+audio calls.
But now, I think there's a point when they should stop updating, just make your framework sleek, make UI and security patches and release the f*****g app, don't add any more features that are not requested. One reason for the useless updates might be monetization and visibility. But, I think it hurts the framework in long-term.

SOME QUERIES ABOUT NOSTR PROTOCOL
Although I can understand #nostr solves issues of privacy, centralized servers, data portability etc. Also, it works great, just seamless to login to its multiple apps around its ecosystem, much like how people used Gmail/ Outlook/ Yahoo IDs to identify themselves. Here we can use nostr secret key to signature ourselves by encrypting our private info.
But I'm still stuck on to few questions -
How does relay nodes (can we call them servers) work? As per my understanding, relays dispose the information (data) after specific amount of time? reference Can there be a situation when just by chance/ randomly a user's data is destroyed from all connected relays?
For example, in my nostr client (Snort), I can see 4-5 connected relays. Can I assume, my data although encrypted, is stored on only 3 relays ?
If not, How NOSTR will handle data duplication problem? I mean what will happen when it scales up thousands of order of its current size now !!! Currently imagine Twitter has to hoard its data across a big data center (and maybe a couple of others for backup and RAID and in couple of continents too). But if NOSTR becomes the size of twitter, will it requires number and sophistication of datacenters = number of nostr nodes/relays/servers, each equivalent to Twitter's size.
Who will maintain such huge servers/nodes/relays then ? or Will there be future with every user having their own node ? But then it would be data saved/stored locally.

I agree with you on some points. But we are browsing internet and using mobile phone processors and using blockchain because of Nanotechnology (processing). Biotech is important for medicines and building new vaccines as we did in remarkable amount of time in pandemic. IT (Infotech) is all we are building our Web3 apps on, backend and networking structure, our nostr relays etc. Similarly, Cognitive Science is important too for understanding of human cognition (not to control), consciousness, to treat diseases like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and disorders like depression etc.
Please correct me if I am mistaken. It's a double edged sword though, I agree.

Around 2 years back, I learnt about Bitcoin first in life and decided to slowly save money and purchased over 1000$ of BTC on a platform (exchange) called VAULD. My main aim is to keep BTC on HODL, but soon after the bear market, crypto exchange got bankrupt, stopped its operations, locked our crypto and currently filed moratorium in Singapore court, lost all my money. I learnt a lesson of having self-custodial or non-custodial wallets the hard way. Now they are holding reverse dutch auctions (RDA) and all.
I come from a not-so-rich Asian country and it was a good chunk of my savings. But now after 2 years of distrust on crypto, I am planning to again try Bitcoin, but SAFELY.
Is there anyone here who can help me get started with safe practices, specially on which wallets to use. Although I have heard of hardware wallets, I cannot purchase hardware wallets since it is too expensive to start with. I may think of them in future. I want some of these features:
- BTC should be in my hands, not in my government/ exchange hands
- I don't have latest and greatest PC/ mobile, so there should be some sort of backup/ recovery so that I don't get locked out/ loose my own wallet
- I can save my keys safely with KeePass password manager and even offline
I did not followed all the stuff in last two years out of frustration of loosing funds. Starting on fresh, I want to really know safest way to purchase crypto in smaller amounts (maybe in like 200-300 USD) chunks, with less transaction fee and transfer it safely to my wallet. (MY WALLET, not an exchange).

you have to copy and paste your nsec, it should fetch your npub, and not nsec

While connecting your Alby account, you have to never type (copy-paste) your nsec and it automatically fetches your npub.

I's very confusing to use Alby with #nostr, I struggled a lot with multiple keys and passphrases. But I think, in the end its all worth it since I'm now seeing the power of @npub1get…0nfm how it integrates with multiple nostr apps just via a simple extension.

so private-key is the main key here, i have backed it up safely, but I need to enter it again on any app whenever I need to sign-in. What if that app is compromised ?? Can they leak my private key ??
Already shared my private key with Alby, snort.social, iris etc.
