Last Notes npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…5twp Looking forward to it, not to the 'responses' you'll be getting. Hold on tight, it's gonna be gruesome I'm afraid 😳 npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…g44g VoidLinux is a great distro. It requires some reading (mainly bcs it uses runit), but it is all pretty well documented. I can recommend this vid (by a Vietnamese guy 😅), that helped me a lot last time: https://youtu.be/iYszYEMoivY?si=X0mtgQRtF9Fn6wFv And search for jake@linux on YT, he has a ton of good videos on VoidLinux! Void is very snappy, that T480 will love it! npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…cck4 Gentoo was one of the finest learning experiences I had. And it's still ongoing. So much to like about it. npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark Simplified slstatus to what I actually use. Keybinds for applications back from sxhkd into config.def.h. Keys good again, VoidLinux updated. Thanks to the collective hangover after Tet I could do all this at work. Productive (finally) 😜 #archlabs #dwm #voidlinux https://cdn.social.linux.pizza/system/media_attachments/files/116/157/524/173/725/840/original/1a0a22109260b8ec.png npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark Getting there! Updated and patched to dwm 6.8, on Void. And since spring is coming I decided to go for that good ol' murky foliage kind of stuff 😜 #archlabs #dwm #voidlinux https://cdn.social.linux.pizza/system/media_attachments/files/116/141/701/040/690/146/original/24739f0d2ce0ae6b.png npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark VoidLinux to the rescue. Obviously that LUKS, dracut and bin kernel was a glorious PITA on Gentoo. But..... VoidLinux has everything I want, a tutorial that actually worked was found quickly and now dwm 6.8, st and dmenu all compiled gloriously. Let the patching begin. Remember, this time I wanted to start from zero, Unfortunately I have to work tomorrow 🤣 so this will have to wait to later in the week. But this feels very appropriate for the ThinkPad. Beer time 🍻 on a job well done 😆 #archlabs #dwm #voidlinux npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…vf35 Seems to me you've been fetching some good QoL updates for you two. Enjoy! npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark Void, with encrypted zfs, on the laptop. Dwm or River. Tbc. But Gentoo dwm is calling. Possibly before Tet. NixOS with KDE on the N150. Solid. Finally revived the old NUC with Slackware Tilers: Sway and Mango. And Dank. Great stuff. The Thinkpad that wasn't sold: this will be either TileOS or Hatchery, a project by Troutcobbler, an old ArchLabs mate. Both Debian, tiling wm's. Cool. Check them out. The last one will be after Tet, I'm off for a couple of days for a shitload of beer and karaoke 🍻😜 Keep our Fediverse a good place and enjoy my silence 😆 #archlabs #tet #theflyonthewall npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…cck4 Thanks a lot, mate 👍🏻 And now I see the 'mistake' also: forgot the 'modprobe zram' 😆 that's why it installed just fine, but didn't work (as it already does on Gentoo and Alpine)🥳 Solved ✅ npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark #FediAsks What is the best way to enable zram with dinit? I've tried a post on the Artix forums and I've followed the setup according to the Chimera services description, but neither work for me. Obviously sth I'm missing 🤔 #ChimeraLinux #dinit npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…vf35 Take care and let things settle down for you and your family 🙏🏻 npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…qxrs thanks 👍🏻 still have some colors and tweaks to do, but the Gruv base is there 😅 npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark Updated the codeberg.org/thesaigoneer/freebsd-mangowc repo. Still a lot to do, but at least the most relevant things are there, including the mango configs itself 😆 Also the sw selection has been amended, including yazi and foot now. cc @nprofile…mcs8 #freebsd #mangowc https://cdn.social.linux.pizza/system/media_attachments/files/115/942/279/691/538/632/original/4a12fc5ba6d01695.png npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…vf35 Absolutely. It's not accusing; this way no one will know what damage and inconvenience they have caused. And, to stay positive, there's no urgency now for them to adjust any behavior. It's just an email to delete. npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…vf35 That building manager isn't owning up to the situation unfortunately and letting you down. He/she shouldn't send emails, but go up there, knock on all doors, explain and clarify and later send an email confirming everything. Pfff. Hope your Sunday will be a #Betterday ! npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…hl5m I have the config and should give it a longer go also. Don't know if it does scripts like rofi but I only use it as an app launcher anyway. npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…hl5m Give me some time, I'll see what I can come up with. Just a small speed-install on that Thinkpad away🥳 npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark That was a pretty uneventful affair, which is good. The Cosmic liveslak I tried worked well, a much better experience than before. Furthermore very much up to date, the first patch to version 1 already included. Had only to install grub (included, but not activated) and uninstall some standard liveslak packages. But that goes with every Slackware install, so no biggie. Cosmic-greeter behaves a bit quirky also, but that goes for all Cosmic installs. Next week: tweaking. #slackware #cosmic https://cdn.social.linux.pizza/system/media_attachments/files/115/836/197/396/901/578/original/a08fa6d383004fa9.png npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…2xyh I can't recommend it enough. Eleven years old and still a great watch, nothing dated about it. Later seasons of course had difficulty reaching this level imho, but there were a couple of decent ones in there. Do it. npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark 2014. Season 1 of Fargo. Rewatching now. Man, they don't make them like that anymore. Epic. npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark Actually, with Slackware Tilers (Sway, Niri and River) and my laptop with VoidLinux and DWM all my computer needs are taken care of. Other setups have hardly been touched the last couple of weeks. Will 2026 be the year to do more with less? #slackware #voidlinux npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…jerk Oeh, that x220 is nice! Tempted... Domestic arguments will occur 😂 npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark These days off are good to nerd out even more... 🤖 Finish dwm setup on VoidLinux zfs 📑 Install Cosmic on Nix 🤓 Add riverwm to Slackware-Tilers Ain't talking about T2SDE or Gentoo. Yet 🤣 npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…jerk Have a great time yourself and thanks for all your contribs (personal and technical) over the year! npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark Checking out, before cooking, that guide by @nprofile…2pyj .Installing VoidLinux, zfs, encryption and hibernation. Gonna follow all those steps meticioulsy., but not today. It is no surprise ssh works ootb on Slackware. Pots and pans are calling, happy xmas all!! https://it-notes.dragas.net/2025/12/22/void-linux-zfs-hibernation-guide/ #slackware #voidlinux npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark Told y'all before: FreeBSD has the most exciting and full-fledged stack of Wayland compositors and applications. Most exciting part of Mangowc: switching between tiling and scrolling with one keybind. And a ton more, to be discovered by yours truly. Enjoying it a lot so far. #freebsd #mangowc #maomao https://cdn.social.linux.pizza/system/media_attachments/files/115/734/942/767/355/924/original/57b7cd46e08dbdb1.png npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark I want to be ready for that Cosmic launch. And I got triggered by some toots. So I put cosmix-saigon back on the work laptop. Based on the nixbook project (thnks @nprofile…3u5w !) and nixos unstable (yep, living on the edge again). Solid. And ready! #nixos #cosmic #nixbook https://cdn.social.linux.pizza/system/media_attachments/files/115/676/595/866/048/727/original/3ffd01fa127a0185.png npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…w47d See your point, who knows what else the tz refers to. Hence probably also the double names of, for instance, Calcutta and Kolkata. Older applications will use Calcutta still, while newer ones reference Kolkata. npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark Funny to see that Vietnam's timezones are still split in North and South Vietnam in the FreeBSD installer. Saw it before obviously, but now I will apply for an installer change. It's probably a leftover from the BSD days, when there were clearly two different countries, but it has been one Vietnam since 1975. #freebsd npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…vqqu I went for xfce, enough KDE in my life 😂 Fluxbox is also there, but I never really clicked with that. And I always felt MX makes the best xfce out there. And sysvinit still available. npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark With all my KDE, dwm, MangoWC, NixOS, Gentoo, FreeBSD, Wayland, immutably complicated stuff it is very refreshing to just download an MX Linux iso, install it in under 10 minutes and have evrything you might want up and running in no time. Well curated, well styled, great tools, you name it. Documentation excellent. What a great distro! A gem. #mxlinux npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark Some joyful moments are hard to explain. Finding the correct keybinds on how to move a window to a certain tag and focus there and how to do the same and not focus there made my Mango Sunday. Thanks to @nprofile…x4wz 🍻 npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…t8sa Looks like the followers followed along (st least I did). Welcome still. npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark Off to the races! Tested and all, another great slacker0ni production. Thanks Jay! cc @nprofile…myln #slackware #kde https://cdn.social.linux.pizza/system/media_attachments/files/115/415/139/462/809/489/original/95b9a3b8aeb01d79.png npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark When one of the first things you do is lookup if FreeBSD has the MangoWM in it's ports you know what kind of day it'll be 🤓 It doesn't btw, so I guess I'll possibly go for a compile. #freebsd npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark Yesterday I had to present some stuff to a pretty large group, around 40 people. What better moment to install my KDE spin of the Nixbook project (codeberg.org/thesaigoneer/asterix-saigon) for a real life test? I have only one issue with it. It just keeps working 🤣 #nixos #kde #nixbook npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark Best thing of the day? Finally cracking that volume change on the River wm, keybinds working now! What cracked it? Reading that effing manual of course 😅 And not deleting code you deem too much, but is essential to get it working 🤣 #freebsd #riverwm npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…ssav Could you retry it from the post? Link has been fixed afaik. Here is it anyway: (https://codeberg.org/thesaigoneer/cosmix-saigon) npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark Cosmix-Saigon is up for grabs! It is a custom spin on NixOS, using the Cosmic desktop environment, changing channels and using the latest kernel. It is based on the Nixbook project by @nprofile…vrl0 The goal is to make a set-and-forget setup, where both the OS and the applications (flatpaks) are updated automagically. RMFM and get going, you can find it at (https://codeberg.org/thesaigoneer/cosmix) and jump into that Cosmic beta! #cosmic #nixos https://cdn.social.linux.pizza/system/media_attachments/files/115/302/292/670/365/010/original/29e95284fd7fa471.png npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…f0hx Ah yes, when I go wrong it is with chrooting into the disks. Later I find out I've been editing all those files on my USB and not in the actual system 🤣 npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark Of course I keep that Gentoo install. Any self-respecting geek has a Larry in da house! 🐮🤓 npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark I wrote up how I installed KDE Plasma 6.4.4, running Wayland, on FreeBSD: https://codeberg.org/thesaigoneer/pages/src/branch/main/FreeBSD%20and%20Plasma%206%20install #freebsd #kde npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark First KDE 6.4.4 feedback on FreeBSD: All running pretty smoothly afaic. Memory usage a bit high, but my guess that's bcs of the startup of a linux jail (I'm playing with installing Brave, which I did). Possibly I let go of that and stick to Librewolf, installed from the repos already. Networkmgr by the Ghostbsd team is a nifty tool to handle your connections, works great in KDE also. Automount by @nprofile…ehlq is invaluable for easy mounting of your usb sticks. Both are available from Ports. Recognizing smb shares (my NAS) worked ootb. One big, well known, Wayland-Sddm bug: don't use Ctrl+c or you're back on the command line 🤣 Copy by mouse still works. All in all a good experience, I'll take it through it's paces next week. #freebsd #kde npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark Interesting difference at first glance, when compared to Linux, is that FreeBSD feels more like a technical writing community, but still highly readable. So, when adding wifi to my FreeBSD KDE I was happy to have previously bookmarked https://www.dwarmstrong.org/freebsd-network-laptop/ Thanks @nprofile…yjzh for the concise write-up, all good now And sounding like the expert I am not: the default is US, but you might have to change the regdomain and country (for me to APAC and VN), as clarified here: https://wiki.freebsd.org/action/show/WiFi/RegulatoryDomainSupport?action=show&redirect=WiFiRegulatory Happy webbing! #freebsd npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark That is a lot of fun! The update to 6.4.4 is rolling out as we speak, but just to give a first impression. Plasma 6.4.3, Wayland session, basics installed and up and running. Even Spectacle (was a big issue previously) works well. Wrapping up tomorrow, I've deserved that cool 🍻 for now. #freebsd #kde https://cdn.social.linux.pizza/system/media_attachments/files/114/987/137/387/574/980/original/412389ae9e645bfb.png npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…vrl0 Congrats Mike! Certainly one for a test run, I'll get that iso in (just yesterday had a sudden Mint retro vibe anyway 😎). Great stuff! npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…5f2h A thing of beauty! npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…93qq dwm of course npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…5rxr Yep, was just outlining some alternatives. Ubuntu and myself don't really get along; OpenSuse I've used quite a bit. Agree with you on zypper though. How about OpenMandriva? And Siduction? Let's see where you'll land. npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…5rxr I think you are very much free to use whatever you prefer. Imho it's absolutely good to look around at alternatives, but if you find them a bit lacking here and there, why not use what you know works? On the European front you might have a look at OpenSuse, but out of own experience I can assure you printers can be everything but a walk in the park 🙃Ubuntu is Ubuntu, but their Cinnamon spin is pretty nice. Curious to hear later on what it will become. npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…5f2h Nice write up, thnx for sharing ☺️ npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…x7m7 Are there special reasons for you to compile these packages? As in using specific flags? Just a friendly question because, as a FreeBSD noobie, I added ports and did a pkg install librewolf/libreoffice, which was done like that. Just like using the binary packages on gentoo (heresy! 😜) npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark It's time to consider switching to another instance again; one that's not totally out of sync with daily life, but has a more technical focus. I miss that emphasis from fosstodon. npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…5f2h Finally seeing more and more window manager options becoming available under Wayland 😅 great thing! npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark Okay, no fetches and no Mate here. But just showing off that FreeBSD has that great Wayland stack, very much up to date, in the Ports collection. Neat fallover config 😎 npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…vrl0 Watched it some time ago, great to see the man ' behind' in action ☺️ npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark The 3 Musketeers for the coming week: Slackeroni KDE, Gentoo dwm and GhostBSD Mate. The latter one will be tested on the daily grind. My guess? You'd never want to go back 🤣🍻 npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark With all excitement and bling floating around I am enjoying my time today on GhostBSD Mate edition. Well rounded, everything works ootb, quiet styling (I've turned on a Dracula theme of course ;-). Plus'es: samba , VLC, sound, LibreOffice, generic feel, the Stations (backup, software), sudo (I prefer doas, but newcomers will recognize sudo), install and go. BSD generic: volume settings (mixer pcm etc), wifi (on a 2018 mini pc with Ryzen 2500U, seriously?) and of course BT are generic issues. Can be solved, but still. Oh, and I forgot to mention that GhostBSD totally takes care of graphics drivers, dbus et al. I mean DisplayPort at 185hz ootb, great! All in all a nice one 👍🏻, recommended! And then from IceWM over to Fluxbox ? npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark With Slackware, Gentoo, Chimera Linux, Void, FreeBSD and even Artix as distros that I like and care about there's no real reason to use anything systemd related. I'd never thought 8 years ago I would say that. And no, I don't think it's spying on me or the CIA are behind all that, or big business and all that jazz. It brought many, many good things, but it is just becoming too much of a behemoth. One of the recent videos of DJ Ware was very 'informative' on that subject. So you won't see a zealot here, be happy with what you like. I was as well while it lasted. But I'll be moving away from it steadily from now on. npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…5f2h Yes, I expected that as well but Phoronix had a recent article expressing quite some disappointment with progress on the Ubuntu side of things. But as kernels progress so will the support I hope. npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…5f2h Keep us updated, very interested to see if Chimera will be one of the first to succeed. npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark Second turnaround: okay, okay, I get it. Cosmic is fine. I'm rebasing Cosmix-Saigon, from Fedora Atomic to NixOS. Testing as we speak, using the great NixBook experience from Mike (@nprofile…vrl0). Tweaking a bit, not understanding all, but hey, it works on my laptop now. Looks like fun! Thanks Mike! 🍻 npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…yjzh @nprofile…ehlq Openbox! My start in ArchLabs was based on the great Openbox config they had. Fondly think back to hours of tweaking rc.xml ☺️ But this is also a nice config, and Sakura terminal. Nice work, gents 🍻 npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark @nprofile…uvhj A scrot of your old home 😎 https://cdn.social.linux.pizza/system/media_attachments/files/114/486/422/640/919/523/original/c7e38bef7e3864ec.png npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark With a new pope in town it certainly feels like a dwm-xorg-gentoo day today; in the end nothing changes. npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark I really like the easy way that NixOS enables you to get rid of all cruft through one config file. Discover, kwallet and elisa are part of the Plasma metapackage. Removing them in other distros gets you the warning that you, by removing them, are actually removing Plasma. Not so in NixOS. a clean working Plasma session remains, without those unnecessary addons. Re-adding them is one simple edit away. #nixos #kde npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark This week's Gang of Four (the distro's/spins I use) will be Slackware KDE by @nprofile…9rd9 , Idefix (my immutable Fedora with hyprland nwg-shell by @nprofile…yujc ), NixBook by @nprofile…vrl0 and Gentoo dwm, inspired by @nprofile…28h5 . I like to use spins and take inspiration from fellow FOSS'ers. It makes for great experiences and conversation. You can't go wrong. #slackware #gentoo #nwgshell #nixos npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark Great fun I just had with Nixbook, a project by Mike @nprofile…vrl0 , turning your computer in a Nix-powered Chromebook. Restarted 8 years ago with Linux Mint and have been on a great Linux journey since. and yes, I've done them all (except LFS and some other curiosa). Nice to be on Cinnamon again. Did Nix as well, and still had those configuration.nix files lying around. Don't really need them, all just works. Only switched a channel of course ;-) Check it out, it's a great one! You can find it here: https://github.com/mkellyxp/nixbook #nixos #cinnamon npub1e8sksky2kngccpmptwc4szucgtrvzpfp9ylpysuwqcym0ytplufqn75cnp Mark As an exercise to refocus it is great to see that Gentoo kernel compile kick-off. Even with bin-packages. Of course I am going with the testing branch. Who dares wins.
