Goodness, I disagree with almost every bit of #RobinSloan's latest zine about #ebooks. I'll have to go into details later...

Where things go crazy is down the road when you have 5 different local environments, plus at least one app running on a server, and you need to upgrade something, without having to upgrade everything in all environments....

tbf, getting the 1st one up-and-running isn't too terrible, except that you have to find the right/current recommendation.

"My client was a cement factory where all the foremen were white and all the workers were Black. It took me less than an hour to figure out that none of the foremen had any idea what their workers did, and that the real brains behind the operation were the Black guys out on the floor, none of whom I was permitted to talk to."

an early section of @npub1fdr…lvhs 's new book involves someone modeling business systems in visicalc:
"It felt like I spent eight hours a day fixing models that had gone wrong because our client didn’t understand their own systems; eight hours a day writing new models for clients who refused to admit they didn’t understand their own systems...."

have you looked at the TheoryOfConstraints/LogicalThinkingProcess diagrams/models? (I can't tell whether you'd love or hate them.)
Dettmer's book makes a big deal of logic-requirements to include a node or link....

simplicity-of-models is semi-different than simplicity-of-designs.
Sometimes a simpler design is GoodEnough, and embraces the process of escalating to a human (or leaving as a manual exercise). Sometimes not.

Meta laid off another 3500 people. They framed it as culling "low performers", but it was really pivot-to-ML.

re pivot-to-video: maybe the best place to start would be shorter videos that are basically under-2min (1min?) to make the "claim" of the text-post as interestingly as possible (maybe including who/why care). Then the text-post is for the deeper explanation.
