Tech is making shit so much harder for many formerly-simple cases.
NSW is offering $300 rebate for energy. I tried claiming it. Now, I'm ex-IT and been online since B4 the bloody Internet (as in, before ISPs, when you had to know the network's phone number :0).
Yet trying to get that $300 did my head in too.
Took 20 minutes of verification steps until it failed. Because, I think, Medicare wasn't linked in MyGOV. It knew that but didn't tell me. STILL haven't felt inclined to have another go yet because it's so faarken exhausting to even think about.
Why wasn't Medicare linked?
Medicare WAS linked in MyGov until one day a year or so ago, logging in via KeyPass failed to authenticate. Over and over. MyGov IT helpdesk gave up troubleshooting and recreated my account, which required re-linking everything... again (Naturally I put that off, after all the hassle).
But still it failed to login to the recreated account. Eventually deduced that maybe MyGov had implemented a login analytic that tagged my KeyPass auto-typing as malicious activity.
Sooooooo dumbed down the bloody password to one I could actually type with fingers while not losing track halfway. The KeyPass password was random and really long.
After all that, never got around to re-linking Medicare, not even wanting to think about MyGov ever again. Knowing full well how impossible that would be.

Recently began watching a Finnish TV show called "Conflict" which strongly alludes to Russia as the invader (of the Hanko peninsula, I think). Clearly a propaganda film to scare the bejesus out of any Fins who haven't been following Russia's chess moves in recent years. It started as a so-so story but quickly became deadly serious. Impressive and scary.
In Ep02, Finland's President is told not to invoke article 5 of NATO because the "US has a situation in the Pacific" or something.
Quite the gripping 'what if' scenario.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has overridden his Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek to scuttle a deal with the Greens over environmental reform.
What we know:
Plibersek was this week close to striking a deal with the Greens to create Australia’s first national environment protection agency, with journalists briefed about an imminent breakthrough (SMH);
She had been negotiating for months with the crossbench, previously accusing both the Greens and the Coalition of being “held to ransom” by “macho” extremists within their parties (The Saturday Paper);
The Greens negotiators had dropped their demand for a climate trigger and instead were pushing Labor to remove the Regional Forest Agreement and Continuous Use exemptions in environmental laws (The Australian $);
WA Premier Roger Cook contacted Albanese and secured a promise to shelve the reforms, amid Labor concerns about potential resources industry attack ads during the next election campaign (ABC);
Albanese then circumvented Plibersek to call the Greens and declare the deal was off;
Plibersek noted that the legislation remains open to a vote, saying: “the bills are listed in the Senate. The Coalition, the Greens and other senators can support them at any time”;

Recently the toilet backed up and I tried to snake it. No joy. Called a plumber and found the old earthenware pipes had collapsed. $5500 later...
That included reworked bath, shower, basin, toilet, and floor piping, replaced gas line 'water pipe' with copper, and two extra yard taps.
Took two guys 8 hours. Nice money. But still feel it was worth every penny. It was a shitload of work, most under the bathroom floor & house, or within a great bloody hole beside the house.
Still, $5500!

I too have complaints.
BOM forecasts - though only probabilities - always rain on the lower side of predicted range, and predicted cool days always increase in temperature in the prediction as the day approaches. Hate that.
But worst of all is the naught weather. When rain approaches our township and looks like a dead cert, it i) evaporates a mile before reaching us, or ii) splits in two and each half goes around us.

Day of the Jackal, TV series with Eddie Redmayne, an overdue retelling of this gripping tale.
The first two were movies (Fox/Willis) and 100% story. The TV series, alas, and as usual, is 50% soap opera.
Do we really need to see the leading characters in their miserable relationships - suspicious wife, angry bro-in-law, sulking daughter, crap crap crap, who cares? Modern script writers seem incapable of not including all-too-predictable filler tropes that we're watching to...you know, get away from. It's an escape, guys, a thriller, not family therapy, or a treatise on personal relationships.
