The size of the industry which supports fiat monetary policy, globally, is so insanely large that it is nearly incomprehensible.
Think of all the banks. All the academia. All the brokerage houses, trying to predict and outperform inflation (mostly unsuccessfully). All the media. All the accountants. All the legal infrastructure. All the computing power. The physical plant. All the time and energy. Etc, etc.
Then...think how the incentive structure of all these people allocates resource, and how it compounds through time, and across all society.
Then...think of the price of #bitcoin.
Then...stay humble, and stack sats.

If Elon is agreeing to reduced X usage in exchange for higher satellite and car sales at different companies controlled by him, it sounds like he is self-dealing and not acting in the best interests of X. As people increasingly realize that monetary intervention does not decrease the cost of borrowing or increase the availabilty of financial capital, but actually causes capital scarcity and higher costs (as people and institutions avoid investments with a likelihood of debasement and loss), trust in government and its fiat money is lost.
Due to mistrust, the currency will increasingly fail over time relative to scarce money, as will society, because socialism does not work, and people will find ways to protect their individual interests.
Key points:
- Government interventions in the market price for goods (including money and currency) creates scarcity, not abundance.
- More and more intervention leads to socialism and complete central control.
- The collapse of manipulated money occurs on a timeline which mirrors people's failing trust in the current monetary system. Same with government.

Historically, block space is most valuable only when the price of the token also starts to go exponential.
As the #bitcoin ledger is increasingly used to store information other than just bitcoin transactions, will we see fees paid for block space decouple and increase faster than bitcoin’s price?
In other words, will the network’s value proposition shift from “monetary” scarcity to “data storage” more broadly?

Not a surprise that the ruling elite are leaning into bitcoin. I often analogize the bitcoin protocol to the US Constitution. Both are constructs for freedom. Both are powerful ideas with huge network effect and emotional pull.
The smartest fraudsters and scammers project alignment with these ideals (whether it be the ruling class/politicians/ institutions, or various "bitcoin companies" or influencers on X, etc), while really just acting to exploit and gain control and wealth at the expense of freedom.

Nostr is currently for hobbyists, like it should be at this stage. No need to rush or critique it.
Like Linux was in the early 1990s, first adopted by a fringe of supercomputer folks and those wanting an alternative to msft, Nostr is today for the bitcoin community and freedom advocates.
Today Linux is everywhere, for example Android.
Point being: we don't need to be disappointed, at all. This isnt a VC backed venture or anything. It will mature and progress on its own pace. And it will grow and succeed. Same as bitcoin.

For the newcomers to nostr who might wonder why all the freaks here are so passionate and focused on #bitcoin, let me try to simply capture the big idea.
Assume that when you work, instead of being paid in your local currency (like Yen, Euro, dollars, etc), you were paid in water.
You aren't going to drink all the water in the moment you earn it, so you need to find a jar or container to store it Obviously, you are going to choose a jar that is strong, secure, and does not leak.
Your local currency is the equivalent to a leaky jar. The leak is called price inflation. If you are using US dollars, over the long term, it leaks at around 7% every year. This leak can threaten the quality and length of your life.
Now, what if we also told you that the bankers and politicians were the ones that made the jar, and determined how much your jar leaks, and that bitcoin was a jar that didn't leak, and bankers and politicians could not change the bitcoin jar?
Would you view bitcoin as a source of freedom? Would you want some bitcoin?

Power is held by the puppeteers (ruling elites) who control the puppets (influencers) on a stage they also control.
When the message is a lie, the truth is revealed, and gaslighting is no longer an effective means of control, the audience loses trust, and the puppeteer must pivot to keep the audience in their seats.
The elites find new or rebranded platforms, and bring influencers who align with the new public opinion, but are also captured.
Think Musk buying Twitter, rebranded to X. Think Tucker on X. Think Milea presenting in Davos. All new puppets on rebranded stages. The audience sees these puppets, speaking the "truth", delivered on a (new) stage which they are told is different. But the puppeteer is the same. Those that pull the strings haven't changed. Things get worse over time, as the frog boils. And the audience stays in their seats.
Or, to quote Rothbard in Mystery of Banking, "...the public had already gotten used to pure name as the currency unit, an habituation that enabled the kings to get away with debasing the definition of the money name." Habituation and network effect and human inertia are prey for the ruling elite.
So, mission accomplished for the ruling elite. Note: This same switcharoo will be the case even if the power people introduce a new political party in the US: Same puppeteers, different branding.
This is why #nostr is so important. The ruling elites don't control the puppets or the stage on which they perform. It is also why #bitcoin is so important. It's growth defunds the ruling elite, transferring wealth and sovereignty to those who embrace freedom.

Maybe I am not understanding, but if you have $100k set aside for consumption over the next year (ie, liquidity needs), are you saying it is prudent to take out a $100k mortgage to hedge against monetary inflation?
Current mortgage rates are 6-7%. 6 month CDs (ie, where you might park your savings) is paying about half that in the US.
Do you really think the risk of short term monetary inflation is worth the delta (ie, around 3%), and then that real estate is a good hedge (after fees associated with the mortgage, etc)?
What am I missing?

Money printers are warming up, as central banks again prepare to rescue us from a problem they created. The latest fuel for the dumpster fire? Commercial real estate losses.
In the GFC, all it took was Goldman marking down its portfolio (after first shorting the market!) to cause contagion.
At present, the Chinese are selling real estate around the globe to meet cash calls on failed projects. (They've also been stacking physical gold for years.)
US regional banks are again teetering.
Both the Fed and ECB are publicly saying commercial real estate is a problem.
