@nprofile…n66e I can only speak from my own perspective, but I remember being taken aback the first time someone told me they jerked it to my art. So to even know I had that level of impact on someone was surprising. I think a lot of artists have some level of self doubt in the impact of their work, myself included. So to try and think past "what can I do better", and instead think of how will this influence others, is a rare line of thought.

@nprofile…3j5a It's cool you can remember the exact image so clearly. I remember a lot of pieces that I was really influenced by, but not the origin. :cryingcat:

@nprofile…n09r Yeah, I feel like anime is a pretty high contributor. It's likely what did me in lol. But a lot of western cartoons seem to have had a lot of impact for people also.

2025-11-27 05:08:46 GMT

I was talking with my stream about this, and it’s still an interesting thought to me that your art might be what led someone to become a lolicon. I don't know if I would feel good or bad about it lmao

@nprofile…k00p Sadly, I already had a large amount of art published before AI was even a thing, so even if I started protecting it now, it's a bit too late for most models trained on my art. People purely just having fun with AI using my art is whatever; my real problem is with people trying to pass the results off as something they legitimately painted.

2025-11-14 19:01:47 GMT

- reply

@nprofile…w47e As long as it doesn't affect their profits, most companies just don't care. And to be a bit on the doomer side, a lot of consumers of lewd art also don't really care either. :cry_konata:

2025-11-14 18:58:04 GMT

- reply

@nprofile…j09k I appreciate the kind words Mia. And yeah, it's been about 15 years now (old man status) since starting digital art, and I only really started to find my stride in what I wanted my art to be about halfway through that. So it just feels weird seeing someone lazily rip it off with poorly edited AI in the hopes of profiting off people. Art is not my main source of income, so I can only imagine how it feels for people where it is their livelihood.

2025-11-14 18:48:28 GMT

- reply

@nprofile…alzu I guess if they see no point in understanding things on a deeper level (as long as the quality is acceptable to them), then they won't see much point in understanding their tooling better. It does make me feel bad for new artists who have to compare their progression to people just clicking a button. :cryingcat: But there is a lot of joy in watching yourself slowly improve and understanding how you want to express yourself in your art.
