Read “The Balfour Declaration” by Jonathan Schneer, who is not Jewish, which should not matter except to an identity-obsessive bourgeois liberal. You just might learn something and it is fair to all parties involved.

That's more true now than it used to be after the neutralization of Iran's nuclear program.
However, try telling that to the hostages who are still in Gaza: that they face no threat. Yeah right!
Israel, which is the size of New Jersey, does not take land except in limited security cases, such as Golan.
In fact, Israel gave Sinai Peninsula (a territory three times the size of Israel) back to Egypt after the Six-Day War, for peace.

Ok, but over half of the 240 hostages have been returned via two ceasefire deals and three daring rescue operations. That's a lot of trouble to go through for "sacrificial pawns" when the only intention is "the razing of Gaza" don't you think?
And try to think about it from hamas perspective, why would they ever release all of the hostages, their only source of leverage?
The only possibility has been partial deals, which have happened.

The Mufti said to Hitler during that meeting “The Arabs were Germany’s natural friends because they had the same enemies as had Germany, namely....the Jews”
Of course, that’s totally changed now with the expanding Abraham Accords. Israel today has peace with two out of four neighbors, both of whom tried to destroy Israel twice!
As for why does winning the war take so long: hostages. The wars w/ Iran and Hezbollah were fast, no hostages.
