I never went to school for any of this. I was coding on a Commodore 64 in like the 1st and 2nd grade. Got pulled into working at a engineering firm on their mainframe in like the 8th grade. I was their with my mom when I saw the IT guy struggling with a issue. I kept telling him I could fix it till he eventually gave up lol. He let me try and in 5 minutes the backup was running again. That got me a summer job for a couple of years. I did fail a programming class in high school but that's because the teacher was a moron and could never figure out how my code worked. She was from the punch card days of programming. Me being less code to do more is better. I piss her off to no end almost daily haha.

I think the monolithic approach could scale much better in practice, even if it is not as “clean” on paper. Can you imagine trying to use microkernels in todays hardware diversity with linux. I think macOS uses a hybrid model but because they control the hardware, they can do things like that.

The Great Tanenbaum–Torvalds Flame War (1992)
In early 1992, a well respected computer science professor named Andrew Tanenbaum posted a message on Usenet with the title "Linux is obsolete." At the time, Tanenbaum was known for creating Minix, a small Unix like operating system used in universities. He argued that Linux was a step backward because it used a monolithic kernel design instead of a microkernel. He believed monolithic kernels were outdated and that Linux would never be relevant on modern hardware.
Linus Torvalds, who was only 21 years old and still a student in Finland, did not stay quiet. He replied directly in the same thread and defended his design choices. Linus explained that he built Linux to be practical and useful on the hardware people actually had, rather than following academic ideals. His response was respectful but firm, and he pushed back against Tanenbaum’s criticisms point by point.
What started as a technical disagreement quickly turned into one of the most famous public debates in computing history. The argument played out openly on Usenet in front of thousands of readers. Tanenbaum was seen as the established expert, while Linus was just a young developer working on a hobby project. Many people at the time agreed with Tanenbaum and thought Linux had little future.
Decades later, the outcome looks very different. Linux became the foundation of modern computing, powering servers, smartphones through Android, supercomputers, and embedded systems around the world. Minix, once considered the more advanced academic system, is now mostly remembered because of this debate.
The flame war did more than create drama. It helped spread early awareness of Linux and showed that a determined student could challenge established ideas and build something that lasted.

Yeah the older one I have is ettus. Had to go back to anyone older video of mine and check. So one Ettus two not sure of brand have to go check. And two hackrf the sad thing is I only ever bought 1 hackrf. All other were saved after old projects ended.

Oh cool I been thinking of playing with my SDRs the ones I have are 5watts up to 8ghz radios. They where used in 5G testing. Once they were tossed I snagged them. I did build a enodeB cell site at my house with them since then I have not messed with them or even my hackrf its been awhile. Friends trying to get me in Lora radios.

oh and as long as it is completely sealed case you should not have to add fluid but it needs to be well sealed. The issue is finding ways for cabling

Submersion cooling at its finest. How many times have you seen it rain on a server. The fluid has a low boiling point. So the processors boil the fluid the heat rises in the bubbles and escapes into a sealed chamber. The chill water coils cools the air and rains back into the fluid.

People over estimate LLM's to me they are great as a tool. Like helping parse logs or a quick answer like you would to Google something. However it does not replace a skilled person. The answers LLM's sometimes are complete BS. The issue is it does not know it made a mistake or to say I don't know. Many none tech people believe it is the be all to replace personal. Now they are paying the price.

I believe all sites unless it's some type of banking should not require ID. In the end it don't matter as all the site collect and sale your data anyway. With enough posting its not hard to figure out who you are anyway. There is a big virus across the Internet being companies that sales your data.

Looking for a good multi-player game to play on ps5 with friends. CO-OP I like games like fallout she likes games like Diablo wife likes resistant evil. Any suggestions are welcome. The world today is so damn crazy. The art of conversation and debate has disappeared. It has now drop to name calling and accusations. I don't always agree or condone some of the stuff you say but I will always fight for the right for people to speak their minds. I am just so tired of all this name calling. It's all political as the politicians on both sides would rather have us fight against each other than them. They started all this mess.

So many of you know I was end the hospital, well one of the doctor says is because of my current condition I need ro drink lots of water well ok fine. My wife has been following me around with a damn water jug everywhere saying here drink this.
Well I got my results in and through it in chatGPT and asked to explain it to me. It did but then says I need to drink lots of water.
So now even chataGPT is ganging up on me about this water crap lol.

Wait starlink is passing you a /48 or is that the size of the pool your pulling from? Been awhile with starlink since I sold mine. I about to go to bed but I will see what I have documented. I have IPv6 running at the office. Basically I broke up the prefix and stuck it on the lan and used the other for the lan. PFsense will route it but it's also a commercial link.

If you need I am kind of a pfsense expert and have used it behind starlink many times. Even once a pfsense/starlink for the us military for a 5G cell setup. I have so many tips/tricks.

Honestly, if you want more detail on any setting/changes I have to go check. It been a bit so I don't remember what all I did. It's mostly standard ollama with a few changes. I deleted a bunch of my old crap and did not mess with it a bit. When my friends talked about making a model off deepseek it was just a quick install to play.
I want to setup two models to talk but have not looked into what it would take yet. If you have a quick way let me know. I haven't dug into it yet.

I thought I put my AI in a feedback loop lol.
I told it a ghost story that really happened to me. I had 3D printer filament on a table, and it lifted up and hovered for about 2 seconds. Then, it was thrown 20 feet across the room. Me and my wife and her friend all watched this happen. This was years ago.
Well Il told my AI model based on deepseek thinking model to explain it scientificlly. It wrapped itself in a complete loop, trying to figure it out.
It finally decided it was a UFO near pass or aftermath of time travel.

I been going back and forth about rust being in the kernel.
After hearing all the arguments, I am for it. Not going to lie I was against it at first do to the issues of maintaining two separate code base I can see all the advantages now.

To be honest with you. I have always let the users decide on everything from rules to keeping mods. However I am getting really close to stepping in. I personally don't see an issue with @npub1jzk…hxs8 expressing his opinions.
Normally I just break ties or make the decision when needed. Which if I do in this case he is staying. I will hear everyone out as they are concerned with being blocked by everyone.

I have always kept my views and polotics out of this instance but with the death threats and harasment I have received over the years and most of the time I have no Idea why. Everyone is about to hear me vent and it's not going to be pretty. I will show everyone how toxic some of these other instances really are in the name of removing toxic people. I got plenty of screenshot over the years

As I have said before and will say again. I just keep the server running but you the users are the ones that run it here.
You want a policy changed create a poll. Change it...
You want to be a mod. Just ask and if the other mods vote yes your in.
If you want to be a admin its the same thing.
You can ask the mods. The only time I jump in is when they are not sure and even then I just give my thoughts on it which it always errors on the side of doubt.
